Open Question: best combi coffee maker? for cheap!?
wanting to get a coffee maker that does 'filter' coffee, cappuccino, espresso etc i see most combi ones use ESE's (easy serving espresso pods) but they seem to be very expensive? im wanting to be able to make the Starbucks drinks like chocha mocha drinks and stuff like that ....budget up to 60 but as cheap as possible ..ive found the De'Longhi Combi Coffee Maker at argos for 99 but it seems alot really and the reviews are mixed??? and someone suggested coffee-ireland for the pods but there 49euros which is soo expensive ......so ive tried to do my own research but im not doing very well...please help thanks :)

I'm looking for:

- not, not, not, for coffee pods, as I like my own favourite that is environmentally friendly because it doesn't require the plastic packaging (how wasteful).
Is there such a thing?
moreResolved Question: I want a single-serve coffee machine but it(& the cups/pods that go with it)is so expensive! Is it worth it?
I want to buy the Cuisinart SS700 Single Serve Brewing System, the one that uses the Keurig K-Cups. But the cheapest I could find it was $175 on Amazon! Plus about 24 pods (1pod=1cup of coffee/tea) is $14! So expensive!
But, I *hate* messing with the grinds and filter and everything in the morning, and I want variety in my coffees and teas- I'm over the same taste every day. My aunt and neighbor both have this single serve coffee/tea maker and love it and it's really convenient and I'm only heard great things about it... but it's so expensive!
What do you think? Is it worth it?

My mom wants a single cup coffee maker for christmas, and I was searching around and it seems like the best kind is a keurig. True?
Since my mom isn't into any fancy coffees or teas or anything, I was wondering if this system allows other brands of pods to be used in it? I'll use the k-cups as well, but I think she would mainly use the Folger's coffee pods.

moreResolved Question: Attention Espresso Aficionados...?
My fiancee loves espresso and he and I had discussed getting an espresso machine before. He has since moved to VA (Navy) and no longer has the luxury of stopping at the Dunkin Donuts drive thru for his morning caffeine fix. So for Christmas this year I wanted to buy him:
- An espresso maker (with possibly a coffee maker built in)
- A coffee/espresso bean grinder
- two espresso cups, saucers
- a simple recipe book on how to make different coffee/espresso drinks
- some good espresso beans or maybe a sampler of beans
However, I am so unbelievable confused by all the variables involved with espresso. Pump versus steam? Ground beans versus pods? I have no idea what "tamping" is! Is there someone out there who is an espresso/coffee connoisseur that can help guide me?? I really need help as I want to give him quality items that also won't totally break my budget. I don't want to get the cheapy espresso makers from Walmart that will break in the first week. Let me know and perhaps we can talk via email in depth about all things espresso.
Thank you!Thank you so far. He actually prefers to either drink the espresso straight or to add espresso shots to regular coffee. I don't think he would like the coffee maker idea. I don't have a problem spending more money on something that is good, I'm just not going to drop $2000 on an Italian machine. Any recommended brands for pump espresso makers or burr grinders?

But I don't want something I'll be throwing away in 5 years time. I want something which will not only last us all our days, but will make amazing coffee.

moreResolved Question: A good coffee maker? Not costing the earth?
My coffee maker has given up. I want to replace it with something that makes filter and espresso and froths. I've looked at reviews, but everything that's well reviewed is over £200, I want something that performs better than OK, but at the sub £75 mark, not impossible surely? and not something that uses proprietary pods or capsules. just good Italian coffee grounds.
Any suggestions out there?Ok... my last coffee maker cost under 100. made excellent filter and acceptable espresso. Granted the milk steamer wasn't great.
The espresso was way better than what normally arrives in restaurants, certainly better than anything I've had from a mocha pot, and I tried plenty over the years.
I've travelled extensively in Italy, France and Spain, all renowned for their love of coffee, and I've been to South America, the motherland, so to speak.
Nothing I tasted would have broken the back of the filter my apparently unacceptable machine turned out, the espresso wouldn't have looked to out of place, though I admit it wouldn't have drawn compliment.
I use Illey or Lavazza, I've tried premium coffee's, but I always get the taste I associate with Italian cafe Coffee from these brands, so I always return. Even I have to admit that yes; coffee freshly ground tastes better. But it's not going to happen, Life's short. Bearing this in mind, any realistic, snob free advice?Oh yeah, I'll give up coffee altogether and stick to tea rather than drink french press. I loath the coffee from these.

I have been using my Keurig machine making coffee with the K cups for about 7 months. When I opened up the pod holder, the pod that was in there from this morning had burst and there were coffee grounds all over the inside of the pod holder. moreResolved Question: Problems with neighbors, please help!!?
My boyfriend and I started renting an apartment in September, just over 6 months ago.
We've had problems with the old maintenance guy, (who was a tenant who never paid his rent so I guess the owner of the building was just trying to have him work some of it off by doing maintenance..)
Having keys to the whole building, he used to come into our apartment when we weren't home... He stole stupid little things from us like extension cords.. batteries... and the creepiest thing of all, when I was out of town for two weeks, he would come hang out in our apartment in the morning when my boyfriend was at work, make coffee, and just hang out...
we have one of those single cup coffee makers, that you only can use the coffee pods for... and my boyfriend never uses it. When I got home after being gone for 2 weeks, I found loose coffee grounds in there, we didn't even HAVE loose coffee grounds.. So I knew something was up.
Also, this other girl down the hall told us that some of herunderwear had been stolen, GROSS. and the maintenance guy even TOLD her that when they were in there fixing some pipes, the plumbers were looking at her bras and commentnig on how big her boobs must be. WTF???
after all of this, we changed our locks (even though it says we can't do that in the lease agreement, but cmon.. this shit is ridiculous)
needless to say, this guy ended up getting kicked out for being so behind on rent, and the Owner of the building (who is NEVER here) passed along maintenance duties to this other weird middle aged alcoholic guy in the building.
No problems for a while, but when we decided to get Comcast cable and high speed internet hooked up, it turned into this HUGE ordeal.
apparently everyone in the building was wired up and getting free cable somehow, and once our LEGIT cable service got hooked up, everyone else stopped getting free cable.
The NEW maintenance guy and several tenants were at the cable box in the hall every other day, tryingto "fix" it so they got free cable again. Our service was interrupted many times, and Comcast came out the other day to fix the problem, and told us that the reason it kept getting interrupted was because all the cheap jerks in the building keep messing up the wiring.
They fixed the problem, and cut everyone else's wires. Someone approached the comcast guy while he was doing this, and he told them if they want cable, they have to pay for it. simple as that.
When the "maintenence" guy found out his free cable didn't work anymore, he went ballistic. Stomping around the halls, slamming his door, and screaming obscenities.
I understand it's not my problem, comcast cut the wires. not me.
But tonight this same guy was drunk out of his mind, banging on our door threatening my boyfriend! All because he doesn't get free cable anymore! WTF kind of landlord would employ such a moron?!
anyways, my question is, what can we do? moving is out of the question for a few more monthsand the landlord obviously doesn't care what his maintenence guy does.
I'm worried about these assholes doing something stupid out of spite... we have a lot of valuable things in our apartment, tvs.. a brand new computer that cost almost $1,000.... cameras... and all sorts of electronic stuff.. I hate that I'm worried about people in our own building trying to break in because they all hate us now... but what can we do?
how bad is changing the locks in terms of violating our lease agreement?
again, moving right now is not an option unfortunately, and I'm looking forward to the second we get out of this hellhole... but any other advice would be appreciated.SIDENOTE - i never did "rat out my neighbors for stealing cable"
honestly I wouldnt give a damn if they all had their free cable. It doesnt concern me so I don't care.
What I do care about though, is us, being the only ones in the building PAYING for it, that DONT HAVE IT.
I didn't "rat" them out. comcast determined the reason our service kept being cut off was because everyone else kept messing with the wiring. If I'm paying $100/month for tv and internet, it better work. oh, and also, I asked the landlord to put a lock on the box and he claimed it wasn't his equipment and there was nothing he could do about it. psh.

My girlfriend's mum got a senseo coffee maker for christmas yesterday. We followed all the instructions, flushed the system etc. But it won't do anything other than that.
