I have two friends who have been dating for the past few years. One friend, I'll call him Sid, I've known for 10 years but he's never been a close friend. Just someone I've known for a long time. Then there is his ex girlfriend, Nancy. She has been a close friend for a few years now. But she is a few years younger than me and she has a habit of being flaky and not so much trusting. She calls me her best friend, but I've questioned our friendship several times in the past. Both of these people have flaws and each of them are wrong sometimes. All they do is manipulate each other and lie to each other. Recently, they were planning to move into a house together but Nancy backed out because she all of a sudden is a heavy drug user. She disappeared for a couple days, leaving him stranded. He is older and closer to my age. He would have been screwed and homeless but I offered him a couch to sleep on if he pays 40% of my rent. He has been sleeping on my futon in the living room for over a week now. Since he moved in, him and Nancy have been arguing all the time and starting drama. At my house and other peoples houses. She doesn't come over often, it's happened 3 times in 8 days. The last time she called him, she told him she is through with him and through with me. Then she started texting me saying she's done with me. She had no reason to do this. I didn't do anything to her. I refused to talk to her the whole day. I just turned my phone off, went to bed and was going to deal with it the next day. The next day, I responded to 20 text messages. I told her she is flaky and she hasn't been the best friend to me and she needs to respect me. She decided to come over and apologize to me. We were cool up until she ran into my house, broke in and attacked her ex boyfriend. She kept beating up Sid. She was punching him in the head and kicking his stomach. And then both of them tried to get me to turn on each other. Nancy kept telling me that Sid talks shit about me and he doesn't like me. But I overhear him tell people I'm awesome. He says that isn't true at all. He is saying she's lying. But then he told Nancy that I told him she slept with Brian. I did not say that and I only said "it's none of my business". Even though I know she did one time, a year ago. I have never said yes or no. But he translated that to yes. He was putting me in the middle by accusing me of taking his side of everything. Then she tells me he told her that I'm gonna help him put nude pictures on the internet. Which I know nothing about that either. She said he texted her all this shit. But she hasn't showed me the texts. Now one of them is lying to me and i don't know who to believe. The hardest part about this is that she talked to me and says that I'm getting an ultimatum by her. She is saying she wants me to kick him out of the house and if i don't do that, she can't be my friend anymore. But aside from that, I enjoy having him at my house and it saves me from my boredom cause i work at home and I have no other friends. But he could totally be full of shit and trying to manipulate me. I know both of these people are good manipulators. Should i kick him out or keep him at the house? more

Hi there, i'm looking for some easy to move furniture for my apartment that's a little bit more sexy than a 50 dollar futon, and that doesn't suck to cuddle on. My girlfriend will be moving in with me soon, and we sort of busted a spring or two on my futon (it's one of those crappy 1-piece kind that only has one hinge) a few weeks ago, and it needs replacing. I'm currently looking at one of the wicker double papasan chairs, because i think it's the best way to go while working with our limited space. so this returns us to the original question, how much weight does a double papasan chair support? atleast 600? our combined weights are nowhere near this much, but both of our families have some pretty big people in them, for when they visit. more

Resolved Question: Best activity to distract a friend from severe loss?

A very close friend of mine has begun seeking attention to cope for the pain of losing her grandmother 2 months ago. She normally doesn't touch guys, and the most flirting she used to do was just give a radiant smile at someone. Since her grandmother died, she has turned to physical comfort. We've had feelings for each other at some point (but never actually dated)... I had asked her out recently before her grandmother died and she had told me she was too busy. A week after her grandma died she chose me of all our friends at a party and did not let go the entire time, sleeping next to me on the futon (first time I think she ever slept next to a guy). She was embarrassed though the next morning, and things were awkward for a while. I tried to keep tabs on her, but I gave her some space. Things finally have started getting back to normal between us, and I asked how she has been doing since that night (which was a month and a half ago at this point). She tells me she's not doing well. She got blackout drunk on friday, and went home with a random guy at a mutual friend's 21st (that I couldn't make because of work). She insists nothing happened, they just had a heart to heart... but this scared me greatly. I don't care if she's happier with me or some other guy (so long as I can trust the guy). So long as she feels safe and happy that's all I ask. Problem is, if she goes after some guy and he hurts her, if she gets taken advantage of while this distressed, I would probably break most of the joints of said guy's body. And it won't help her a damn thing. What can I do to distract her this weekend? Long story short, this girl and I are close friends who've both liked each other at some point in the past. We've very comfortable with each other and trust each other a great deal. Knowing her schedule it could very easily have been true, but it seemed like just a nice lie to say 'not interested' Now 2 months ago, after a death in the family, she turned to me for support. While she was crying she was hugging me tight, even after she had calmed down she still stuck around me. We were watching a movie and she was twining fingers with me/cuddling up to me. ok me and my fiancee live with his dad... we pay him 2 hundred a month and our car is messing up so we have to fork out a bit more money to fix it. i don't have a job just because i havn't been able to find one, but he my fiancee does, he doesn't make alot but he gets anywhere between 270 to 460 every 2 weeks. we also smoke and at his dads were not allowed to smoke inside which sucks... my sister and her boyfriend are in the same predicament but... se had a job and lost it, right after they moved into a new apartment that they as of now, can't afford to keep, so they asked us to move in, but its only a 1 bedroom so we'd be sleeping in the living room, which im fine with as long as we have a bed or futon or something. here are some of the key points... I have a full size bed now and i have a small room and i want to get rid of it and maybe get a comfortable futon good for sleeping on every night of a nice twin bed. im 15 and a guy so looking for something not girly. I really want a futon but i cant find one anywhere that is comfortable and will be able to handle me sleeping on it everynight. i want it to have the comfort that my bed has but be able to still turn into a couch. My best friend would like to come visit me (she lives in another state) and I really want her to visit because I have not seen her for a long time. However, my husband and I live in a pretty small apartment and there is nowhere for her to sleep. (In our tiny living room there is only a broken futon.) Even if my friend offers to sleep on the floor, my husband told me that he won't feel comfortable with her staying with us because our bathroom is behind our bedroom, so she would have to walk through our bedroom at night to get to it. Also, we only have one window air conditioner and it's in the living room. In order for the air to reach our room, we must leave the bedroom door open at night. (So basically, nobody would have any privacy). I respect my husband's feelings and I also agree that it will probably be too uncomfortable for everyone if my friend stays with us. But what should I do? I don't want her to think I am being inhospitable. Won't she think I am a terrible person if I do not offer her to stay with us? Resolved Question: What colors are better?

I am redoing my room in the basement, and I am going to have a black and white bed spread, dark brown furniture, a white futon couch, and light brown walls. On the walls I will put a bunch of decorations like ribbon boards, picture frames, mirrors, etc. I want to put some fun colored pillows on the bed and on the futon, but I cant decide what I like best: Option #1: -Pink and red w/ brown and black. My good friend's daughter is doing something I consider to be, at best, extremely rash, if not outright stupid. I would like for you to give what you think or the odds are of success and failure for this marriage. (ex. 70% fail - 30 succeed OR 20% fail - 80% succeed) Just like that... AND ALSO, could you place a time frame on these odds? (60%/40% failure/success, with failure happening in the first 3 years) OK, the woman in question, my friends daughter is 36 years old. She was married for 8 years to her husband and they had 3 children together in that time. I'm sure their marriage was not perfect but I am very sure my friend would tell me if he knew of any huge, typical, marriage ending problems, in their marriage. After the 8 years of marriage and 3 kids she apparently became a little bit disenchanted with the marriage, at least enough to start cruising online looking to meet someone new. She went to all of the regular sites (match.com, e-harmony.com) and some local sites but didn't really get any responses. At that time she was being honest about being married while she was looking for someone. Then she changed her MO and started telling men that responded to her ads to saying that she was separated (which was of course quite a surprise to her husband at the time...since he still lived in the house, had no idea of these happenings, slept next to his wife every night, worked every day and was all in all a good husband from what I understand) Finally! On craigslist.com, of ALL places, (I bought a used futon once on craigslist but I didn't know there were dating ads there...) she gets a response from a man. They were trying to sell their home and neither could afford to move elsewhere until the house sold... It appears that HE was being honest actually. This new man and my friend's daughter (who I will call "Polly" and I will call the new man, Don from now on for convenience sake) carried on an "email relationship" for about 3 or 4 weeks and finally made plans to meet. The two people met finally without Polly's husband knowing anything was wrong. She lied and said she was meeting a friend of hers for lunch. Then after their initial meeting she called him on his cell about an hour later, asked Don if he could get away to meet her in a secluded park later that evening. She told her husband, still unsuspecting, that she had to do some work for her dad, who has his own business. That was not unusual so the husband (we will call him Karl from now on) said, "fine." Polly came back later that evening. The next day Karl went to the computer to check his email and he found Polly's newly made up email address with the email account still open on accident. He spent nearly $1000 for a fairly extensive background and basically every possible kind of check a P.I. can do, and there is nothing negative on this Don's record. However, it turns out that one month after having actually met Polly, Don actually went and filed for divorce. Voting Question: "How Can I Downsize Or Minimize for a savings without compromising my privacy? See Below?

I am an adult middle aged woman helping care for my mother who has cancer. I have 2 bedrooms.. but.. the thing is.. Nothing... Is included. Twice already the landlord raises the rent 10.00. My rent started at 625.00 now its 645.00 and it may go up another ten dollars next year. I am also paying a pet fee..for 10.00. The water bill is quarterly .. about 3 times a year and runs about 100-125.00 each time.. I have to pay to have the grass cut..because I am on the lower level.. of the two family house. I do cut it myself but its getting hard for me to do without almost having a heartattack. When I have had it cut. .it cost 30.00 every two weeks. I cut it myself last week .. in the cooler days we had. I have to also shovel my walk ways.. which is not hard.. But.. we have no Garage.. and have to shovel the drive way. Its a lot. Or hire someone to get us unstuck in the ice that doesn't allow you to shovel. I pay 61.00 a month on my electric bill for a budget set plan. I also pay for Heat 300 once 400.00 a month due to the brutal winters and the super long ones we have in WI. I did apply for energy assistance because it was hurting me bad. I couldn't afford it. The Air conditioning is 35.00 a month in the Summer abouts.. So.. as you see it all adds up..to a lot..above what I can afford . Being that my mom has cancer.. I am not sure if this is a good time to look into another place or not? My least is year to year.. and comes up for renewal in February for March 1rst which is still cold.. If .. I were to find a better deal and leave sooner.. the landlord would charge me 600..00 deducted from my month and a half security deposit that I would be out that money. However..I have a washer and dryer in the kitchen which is great for us. especially now with my mom. I don't live in a small place.. we have access to the back screened in porch.. but the windows are so... tiny ..almost like a basement with not enough sun .. except when my back door is open and large kitchen window over the sink.. The rest are tiny windows. The house is super old and foundation sinking.. under it.. I was told . But.. the landlord rarely fixes anything.. We have re furbished washer and dryer.. no dish washer.. and the break alot..because they are very used. The basement is not even a place we can go in a tornado crisis.. it gets flooded and has spiders. I can't store anything there if I had to. My Question Is: Does anyone have any idea what I should or could do here? I heard habitat for the humanity builds new homes in the community but from what I read they are income based and most have kids.. I have two dogs.. one is not socialized.. one is my moms. Also.. she hates moving.. but.. I am getting disgusted here fast. I tried to explain to my mother all we are spending..and she doesn't get it. She is 74. I was thinking about getting a one bedroom in a place that cuts the grass and removes snow.. and you park in the lot or .. in a garage in the complex. One bedroom would have to have a storage unit or place.. for my bed and was thinking of getting a futon.. and storing my bed.. but the small apartment living with one bedroom may create more stress for me being on top of one another.
