Resolved Question: What should I do about my sore tailbone?

I have been having a sore tailbone for about a month now, and I do know why. I recently got a new futon mattress which is thicker than the last one, but it feels more airy. It's hard to explain. The point is, I can feel the bars through the mattress when i do anything on it...sleep, lay down, sit, stand, etc. and I think that that is why I am having this problem. I had no injury that would lead to it so it HAS to be this damn futon/futon mattress. The frame itself is about a year old but like I have said, this mattress is about a month old, same as my tailbone problem. I know what kind of things I can do to stop it like pain relievers and soaking, but why even try that when the pain is just going to come back from sleeping on it and using it everyday. There is no other way to replace the mattress and we don't have the financial means to buy a better futon or buy a bed, so what should I do? If I keep sleeping on it, will my tailbone become severly damaged or anything like that? My dad did buy the cheapest futon frame in the whole store too, so that can also be a contributing factor. Resolved Question: So, the bedframe is too big?

My fiancee and I recently moved in together and he had a futon. The futon worked for a while until it bent and was unusable. So we had to find a frame, boxspring, and matress all on a budget. And I mean B U D G E T. We are TIGHT on money... Im not going into details on that. So we got a 44 dollar universtal type frame from Value City. It says it can be a twin to a king frame. The thing is so cheap it didnt even come with instructions, just a diagram pitcture thing. There are three sizes. A twin/full. A twin/full/queen. And a king/cal king. The ONLY difference between the first two is the middle of the queen has a bar going down. The size for the frame though is the same for a twin, a double and a queen. We have a double bed, the same size as the futon we had. After we got the frame set up and put the boxspring and mattress on the bed, we realized something. The frame is a little further from the side of the bed. About three inches further. I assume its because it could also fit a queen? We got the matress and frame pushed up against the wall - where my fiancee sleeps - and so it hangs on the left side - where I sleep - and my fiancee is scared Im going to hurt myself waking up to pee or something in the morning cause Im short. We cant fit the bed to where its not hanging out on my end, cause then the matress is away from the wall and fiancee will probably roll off and hurt himself. What are we supposed to do? There is no possible way we could afford even the cheapest frame right now. We have to save the rest of what we have for rent and utilities and will be lucky if we have enough left.The twin/full notches are the same as the queen notches. I could take picture of the box if needed. Both the twin/full diagram and twin/full/queen diagram use Fig. B to show you exactly where the notches go. more

Voting Question: Should I toss a Futon that is around 8 years old? (or just buy a new slip cover)?

2 of the metal hinges underneath the futon mattress are broken but I suppose some strong glue like substance could fix that. It is a bit creaky but nether-the-less not unbearable (at least to me) I've never slept on anything better in my life than a cheap mattress and I am young so... What should I do? first off, i am used to using a traditional spring bed, i am not into those fancy space age beds. the mattress i am getting is more expensive than the typical futon mattress. i used to sleep on a bed but decided to get a futon. my concern is that just because it feels comfortable when i tried it at the store , how will it be in the long run? i will get it in a couple of days and there is a 30 day return policy. i also picked the less expensive futon frame with the more expensive mattress, so i dont know if the cheap bed frame will cause discomfort. more

I live in Minnesota and I want to re -do my room. I'm 13 year old girl and my room is really small so I was thinking of getting a convertible sofa. I thought that would be easier than a futon, since you don't have to buy the mattress and frame separately. I want to know where to get the cheapest one. I'm thinking about having a zebra theme, with maybe a zebra cover for the convertible sofa and a zebra lamp or chair. HI I've been looking for options to use as a bedding. I'm on a very tight budget and i was looking to but a futon in big lots for 199 plus a 20% discount the problem is that is the display futon and is been out there for 6 months the guy in best buy told me it wouldn't last for two people but when i sat down on it, it felt very solid. he told me that it wouldnt last after he found out that it was 160 and he said for me to wait till he put it on clearance so if it breaks they can give me a new one which would mean that i would pay 199 not 160 and i would have to sleep on the floor for maybe two days should i believe him or just go ahead and buy that one at 160 since its cheaper for me and my boyfriend. do keep in mind that is for daily use of six months? oh yeah and mattresses are too expensive for me....... or should i just buy a cheap one from walmart? plz help me ive heard sooo many bad reviews from people that bought futons in walmart or other places and it seems like if u dont put it together right it breaks... I decided to go with the main colors of tan, brown and olive in my livingroom. I want to get rid of my olive couch and get a fouton, but I want a neutral color for the futon mattress. I just don't want it to be *too* neutral, where everything looks muted. I feel like I have to many little figurines and it seems to clutter everything up, but I like them a lot and can't really think of how to re-arrange. I've got an olive and tan striped chair, small white table, olive couch, black tv stand, brown speakers, small brown wooden stand and brown coffee table...How can I do this without making it look like there's too much brown (the livingroom itself is brown and can't be painted)? I have been sleeping on two really thin (cheap) futon mattress on the floor. During the day I just fold them in half. One problem, my back has been KILLING me, not every day but a lot. I met this guy L on an online dating site. We hit it off good, went on many dates. L is in the process of divorce which should have been a red flag to me but I just hit it off with him and figured it was minor. L treated me like a Queen. Great times and chemistry was so there. BTW, he has a 15 yr old son and I have 2 teens as well. So the last weekend together was awesome. 1. It got to the point of him deciding not use a condom because 'he is with someone (me) and doesn't plan on being with anyone else and trust that someone'. 2. He was going to hand the phone to me - which was his mom on the other line 3. He got upset and said he was going to buy a mattress cuz when I spent the nite that nite my back hurt on the cheap futon he had (ex took the nice bed). 4. He talked of the summer me jumping from his pool. 5. He met my kids and wanted to know how to please my bro to accept him since my bro is protective ...6.He went to my softball games and I went to his soccer games and we’d both get nervous of each other 7. His sis and best friends knew of me 8. We had a strong connection having so much in common. ...So when we started we both said 'go with the flow'. he called out that he didn't want a serious relationship and i too was not focused on that. i really just wanted to go with the flow. as you can tell, from all the numbers above things moved fast over 7 weeks. But after that last weekend, I didn't hear from him for 2 days which was odd because we were at a point where we at least texted each day. So Wed, OVER CHAT, he says "you know more that anyone my situation and the stuff i have to do for the next few months i really dont want to waste your time Chris i think is best to stop" (his situation is he is close to losing his house and needs to get a 2nd job to save it or find a financial solution for that AND he has a lot of divorce issues to deal with). ...And then later when I kept on asking him that I didn’t understand all of a sudden how this occurred he started getting impatient and also said that he wanted to focus on his son and him and didn’t have time to date. He acknowledged that what we had was real good but that ‘he had to’ end it. So that was 2 weeks ago and no communication since then until yesterday I emailed him on the results of a prego test (long story there full of stupid mistakes). I did not look for a reply at all so my intention was just to let him know as I had promised him that on the day we broke up that I would contact him with results. So… How could a guy end something so good? Do I wait? Is this a phase he is going through with all the stress in his life??? Help please.**Responses - I am not pregnant and the pregancy thing came up after the breakup talk started from him. I want to add that he lead a lot of the leading on actions (meeting kids, family talks, games). I honestly was going with the flow and he apologized too on what he had already put me through. Is he genuine in why he left? Can I say that he does have a lot to deal with and when he is 'better' might contact me missing the 'good' thing we had? more

Hi, I need to move from Ocean Beach to Pacific Beach, in San Diego. It's just moving the contents of a one bedroom apartment, which include a computer desk, a futon, a bed (just mattress, box spring, and portable frame), dresser, and credenza, as well as loose items in boxes. I don't have anything that fragile, and I'd like an affordable but reliable service. I can either rent the uhaul myself or get the full service and use their truck if it's cheaper. I need to get furniture for my townhouse, we have a three bedroom, two bath, and two kids. My husband and I like modern styled furniture, but don't know a good place to go to get quality furniture that will not fiberboard apart on us, yet will not break our bank account either. Does anybody know of an affordable place to get furniture for our house? We will be furnishing the kid's rooms, our room, the living room, and the dining room. For a reference point we currently live in Virginia. We will be moving overseas next October, but we need the furniture now! Resolved Question: Memory Foam Mattress Top, is this a good Deal?

Right now I am sleeping on a futon with my boyfriend. We are both in our senior year at college, and needless to say, we don't have a lot of extra money. We went mattress shopping at the beginning of the semester but everything is so expensive, it was pretty overwhelming. I don't want to buy a cheap mattress because I know I will have it for years, but I can't imagine buying a $1300 mattress right now (even with the payment options... I just dont want to deal with that). So as a temporary solution (We will only be living where we are with this "bed" until May), I thought we should buy a memory foam topper, just to make our "bed" a little more comfortable. Resolved Question: How can I fix my futon mattress?

I've been using my cheap, metal futon only as a sofa since I bought my bed a few months ago, but it's becoming less and less comfortable. The mattress is slipping through the crack between the back of the futon and the seat, and no matter which way I turn it, it keeps doing so. This makes sitting in it more painful than relaxing and I often find myself sitting on the floor instead. Is there any way to fix my mattress? more

Resolved Question: my cat peed all over my futon! what can i do?
