Resolved Question: So, the bedframe is too big?

My fiancee and I recently moved in together and he had a futon. The futon worked for a while until it bent and was unusable. So we had to find a frame, boxspring, and matress all on a budget. And I mean B U D G E T. We are TIGHT on money... Im not going into details on that. So we got a 44 dollar universtal type frame from Value City. It says it can be a twin to a king frame. The thing is so cheap it didnt even come with instructions, just a diagram pitcture thing. There are three sizes. A twin/full. A twin/full/queen. And a king/cal king. The ONLY difference between the first two is the middle of the queen has a bar going down. The size for the frame though is the same for a twin, a double and a queen. We have a double bed, the same size as the futon we had. After we got the frame set up and put the boxspring and mattress on the bed, we realized something. The frame is a little further from the side of the bed. About three inches further. I assume its because it could also fit a queen? We got the matress and frame pushed up against the wall - where my fiancee sleeps - and so it hangs on the left side - where I sleep - and my fiancee is scared Im going to hurt myself waking up to pee or something in the morning cause Im short. We cant fit the bed to where its not hanging out on my end, cause then the matress is away from the wall and fiancee will probably roll off and hurt himself. What are we supposed to do? There is no possible way we could afford even the cheapest frame right now. We have to save the rest of what we have for rent and utilities and will be lucky if we have enough left.The twin/full notches are the same as the queen notches. I could take picture of the box if needed. Both the twin/full diagram and twin/full/queen diagram use Fig. B to show you exactly where the notches go. more

I'm moving into a studio apartment in two months and am looking for a sleeper sofa but am having trouble finding what I'm looking for and want to see if anyone else has found something suitable that can point me to the right company/brand/store. Here is what I need: I will be sleeping on this bed exclusively for two years while I'm in Grad school so I want one that pulls out (so I can put nice sheets on it and people wont be sitting on it all the time) I do not want one that folds flat like a futon. So no craigslist. I am a very fastidious person who is appalled by the idea of sleeping on a used mattress from someone I don't know. My friend was moving into an apartment, so I told him he could use my futon since he didn't have a mattress and bed. He has since moved to another apartment and has bought a new full size bed. I can't recall if I said he could have it or if I offered to let him use it. I didn't expect to need it back, so I guess we were both under the impression that he could keep it for a long time? Since I am moving places soon, I asked him if I could use the futon for a couple of weeks before I secure an actual bed. I plan on asking another friend to help me transport it to my new place. The thing is my friend wants the futon back after I get an actual bed because he wants to use it for couch surfers (though he has an actual couch). It sort of irked me the way he phrased his response, "Sure, I use it for couch surfers so I would like it back." I guess I still assume that I am the rightful owner even though he is in possession of it. And he obviously thinks the futon is his. I guess my question boils down to whether or not I am being an Indian giver? And am I responsible for transporting the futon back to him after I am done using it? more

I live in a resort area and am thinking of renting my condo during peak season so that I can make some extra money. I have a small 2nd bedroom that doubles as my office and art studio. I'd like to get a bed that can easily be moved in and out of my storage unit when I have guests or renters. I would like a full-size bed so there is room for 2 to sleep. I hear all sorts of crazy comments about futons and how uncomfortable they can be. They are very fashion forward (some anyway!), but are they comfortable to actually sleep on??? But the main problem is his bed. It's a twin bed from a bunkbed set he's had since he was little. He's 13 now, and he's outgrown it. But as you can see, his room really isn't big enough for a full sized bed. The spot the bed is in is the only spot you could put a bed, because the closet is on one wall, and the door to the hallway is on the same wall. Right now he's pulling the mattress off and sleeping on the floor which I don't like. What can we do about his bed? We have a futon but it's not comfortable, and I think he'd have the same problems with a daybed being too small. more

One more question about my lil' mastiff. The night we got her, I put her in my room to sleep with me. Since I sleep on a futon (eight inches, if that, off the ground) she jumped up (well, put her front two paws up. I couldn't help but lift her back legs) onto my bed. This is the fourth night she's slept with me, and I have no problem with that at all... while she's small. Once she starts growing rapidly, she's going to easily take up half my full size mattress. I've got a doggie bed for her, and I tried putting that on my bed, to see if she'd sleep on it and then I could move it down. Nope. She'd just move right off it. Any experience with giant dogs? Maybe when she's older she'll realize that there isn't enough room and sleep on her own bed? Is there some trick I should try that will show her my bed isn't the place she needs to sleep? Hate to ask such trivial questions, but the last dog I owned died when I was 8. more

I'm looking to get a new bed that I plan to sleep on for at least...the next four years. I have a relatively small bedroom, and I would also like to add some seating space. I was looking at a futon/sofa-bed so I could kill two birds with one stone. My problem is is that on the past futons I've been on, they have been much squishier than a regular mattress and they don't seem like they would be good on my back if I slept on them continuously.
