I am redoing my room and i have a loft bed that i want to put a futon underneath it. It seems like ive looked everywhere and the cheapest i found was one at target for $99. Then i read the reviews and it said it wasnt very good.So then i found one at Walmart for $119 and the reviews were better than the other one. Are there any cheap websites (under $115) for a futon frame and mattress? moreResolved Question: Why do you think my sister-in-law didn't want to stay at our place?
I told my sister-in-law that she could stay at our two bedroom apartment. Our second room doesn’t have a bed, but she could bring a blow up mattress. The second bathroom is attached to the second bathroom very convent. My sister-in-law, her husband and daughter decided to stay with my brother-in-law that lives in two bedroom duplex with one bathroom. My bother-in-law has a small cramping futon and his place is a mess. My sister-in-law said that are staying over at the bother-in-laws place is because it is closer to my mother-in-laws. My brother-in-law place is the same distance as our place. I think the reason they didn’t want to stay was because I am 16 weeks pregnant and my sister-in-law had two miscarriages this year. What do you think? moreResolved Question: How do you sleep in camp?
Most hunters I know can just throw down a tarp on the ground, throw down a nasty unwashed sleeping bag, and boom! Asleep. I could sleep anywhere at all when I was a child, until I was about 25, but now I have some issues. First of all, I have a phobia about sleeping bags. I feel trapped, like someone could attack me in my sleep, and I couldn't fight back, and they could kill me or torture me easily because I was trapped in my sleeping bag. I carry a sleeping bag in my pack hunting because I am afraid of getting lost and dying of exposure, but I REALLY don't like to be in a sleeping bag. I am very thin, and don't produce a lot of heat. Consequently, I will put on white thermal underwear, a pair of thin socks, a pair of thick socks, gloves, a sweatshirt, and a wool cap on when I go to sleep. If it is really cold, I will put on a pair of insulated underwear over that, in addition to insulated down booties. I will then sleep under two thick blankets. I will sleep in a small tent with a rain fly. I use an old futon mattress to lie on. I actually prefer to use an actual pillow. As I am a very small man, with little ability to fight, I keep a handgun with me when I sleep, usually a small semi automatic, with no round in the chamber, so I won't accidentally shoot myself. I have a lot of fears of sleeping alone in the woods. I fear robbers/killers/Blair Witch/UFO abductions/Strange Noise, etc. I dislike sounds in the night. My ideal solution, is whenever possible I try to persuade someone to sleep with me in the tent. When someone else is with me, I have no problems, and go right to sleep. I like being in the woods. But I really hate sleeping, particularly at night in the woods. This has practically destroyed the pleasure of hunting for me. I have a person who can tell me where to be opening day, but the stress of camping out the night before, really makes for an unpleasant and tired first day. Right now the only way I have of dealing with this, is I really suck up to my friends when I am about to go camping, and I beg, beg, beg one of them to come with me. Does anyone else have these issure about camping?Jeremy Deer eat the shoots of baby trees. Angeles national forest can only hold so many deer, or the forest will die off. 100 years ago, all the deer were killed by mountain lions. Now they are killed by hunters. Given a choice, I would rather be shot by a bullet than killed by a Mountain Lion. But that is just me.Guess Jeremy took off. moreVoting Question: What are these maggot-like bugs that are black with orange horizontal line on their back?
I was cleaning out a storage closet that I keep dog food in and other things, and at the bottom of the closet is a futon mattress. On top of the mattress after taking everything out I saw the exoskeletons of these tiny wormy like bugs. I then lifted up the mattress and I saw some living ones. I am completely disgusted. I know that it might have something to do with some dog food crumbs I found. I always keep my house spotless I don't know how I could have gotten them. Can someone tell me what they are? moreResolved Question: im 11 with back and neck pains what do i do?
Im 11, about a year ago I fell on a wooden floor really hard. Hard enough to pull up the board I fell on ever since then my back and neck always hurts. At first it hurt, but not as bad as it does now. I sleep on a futon(bed that turns into a couch) I can fill the bars through the mattress and I know that is making my back hurt even more. I mention to my parents that my back hurts all the time but they just say im to young to have back problems.I think they say this cause like I said im 11, and parents just don't understand. My back has been hurting really really bad here lately I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE! What do I do? moreResolved Question: How do I convince him that the couch is NOT the litterbox?
TJ has pissed on my futon (I'm using the words couch/futon interchangably through this post - - same piece of furniture) again. I'm getting EXTREMELY frustrated, almost to the point of wanting to rehome him! Here are the things I have tried: Veterinary exam and urinalysis -- Yes, he has a MILD UTI, and he did get an antibiotic injection for it. This was 2 days ago. I thought surely I'd see a little improvement by now. Besides, this recent jig of him peeing on the couch hasn't been the only time. He's done this I'd say every couple of weeks for the past 2-4 months. The past 2 days he's peed on the couch twice. He is neutered, and to my knowledge there are not any intact cats in the apartment complex. I've cleaned the couch with Nature's Miracle, hoping to remove any left-behind kitty smells. I will be changing the decorative cover on the futon AGAIN today. Previously, I had tried all sorts of dish soap/vinegar/baking soda/peroxide concoctions -- I'm surprised it didn't eat a hole through the futon mattress. In my 500 sq. ft apartment I have ONE cat and TWO litterboxes which are scooped EVERY day. The addition of the second litterbox just happened a couple of weeks ago after the LAST time he peed no the couch. One of the litterboxes is situated immediately next to the couch. It is a covered litterbox. The other litterbox is in an opposite corner, uncovered. I use Tidy Cats litter. I tried a feliway plug-in for about a month until the little oil canister ran out. I have not bothered to buy a refill, but I intend to go out today to get more feliway. (Should I get a diffuser refill or the feliway spray?) My veterinarian/boss has suggested possible behavioral medications -- i.e., buspirone or fluoxitine. I haven't done this yet but am seriously considering it. Short of opening the front door and throwing him out (no, I won't, despite the incredible urge), what else can I do?! He's an adorable, sweet, affectionate kitty and I love him to pieces, but I also love having the opportunity to sit down on a comfortable piece of furniture after a long day working at the hospital! *sigh* moreVoting Question: Nostalgia/flashbacks of non-traumatic memories causing anxious/nervous feelings?
Sometimes smells, tastes, and sights make remind me of previous times in my life, and I immediately feel a little nervous/anxious like my stomach is fluttering. The memories aren't of any specific traumatic event, but rather just times in the past. For example: *I found a bottle of hairspray that was 2 years old, and when I sprayed it the smell of the hairspray immediately took me back to the last time I used it (2 years ago during my freshman year) and I had a quick panicy/anxious feeling. *Or, today, I took a deep breath, and all of a sudden the humidity in my apartment reminded me of 1 year ago when it was similarly humid and I just started living here. *Or, when I was packing, seeing the mattress of my futon reminded me of when I first moved into my old apartment and didn't have bedsheets at the time. Anyway, every time these memories come to me, I immediately get an anxious/nervous feeling in my gut and in my mind. Do other people feel like this too when they get nostalgic or a triggered? Do you know why I might feel like this? Thanks. moreVoting Question: I'm 19 weeks pregnant and I'm having severe hip pain...?
So this past Monday I woke up early in the morning to this severe hip pain in my right hip. I flipped over to find that I also had pain in my left hip. Of course, I can't sleep on my back or my belly so my only options are my hips and, with both of them in pain, I decided to get up. When I got up I almost collapsed. I slowly sat down and put a heating pad on my right hip (where the pain was greatest) and eventually the pain went away. I had the same problem on Tuesday and the same thing happened. This happened again this morning but this time the pain never completely went away. The pain was extremely piercing this morning to the point where I couldn't find any comfort. As time passed, the pain softened but, today, it has not completely gone away. In fact, I've been limping around the house all day and I can't get any chores done. I feel like I'm about to tip over and, though both hips are in pain, the right one feels like there's a huge bruise on it that I just can't see. Both hips feel as if they are about to pop out. Now, this is my second pregnancy. I know there can be discomfort around this time when you are pregnant and I did feel that with my first but this pain is different. I have never experienced anything like this before and it has me worried. I have pregnancy pillows, memory foam pillows, down pillows, cotton pillows, a futon mattress and memory foam pad on top of my mattress so I know I'm doing everything right and, yes, I do keep my body pillow between my legs at night and additional pillows under my feet. All this week I've tried different ways to position the pillows and I've tried all of the different types of pillows and the pain continues to get worse. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any advice on how to get some comfort? Is this something I should be worried about? Thanks so much for your help in advance! moreVoting Question: Should I toss a Futon that is around 8 years old? (or just buy a new slip cover)?
2 of the metal hinges underneath the futon mattress are broken but I suppose some strong glue like substance could fix that. It is a bit creaky but nether-the-less not unbearable (at least to me) I've never slept on anything better in my life than a cheap mattress and I am young so... What should I do? And if money were no object I wouldn't even bother asking this... I just want an opinion or two. moreResolved Question: Any ideas on how to keep my futon mattress from folding?
I have a futon and the mattress keeps on folding. At the part of the mattress that is sitting up the corners keep on folding down revealing the frame. I was thinking Velcro could help, but maybe someone with a similar problem has a better solution? Just to clarify, it isn't slipping off the frame, the mattress is folding over. Thank you :) moreResolved Question: do you think that if i get a spring futon mattress, it will be almost as good for your back as a normal bed?
first off, i am used to using a traditional spring bed, i am not into those fancy space age beds. the mattress i am getting is more expensive than the typical futon mattress. i used to sleep on a bed but decided to get a futon. my concern is that just because it feels comfortable when i tried it at the store , how will it be in the long run? i will get it in a couple of days and there is a 30 day return policy. i also picked the less expensive futon frame with the more expensive mattress, so i dont know if the cheap bed frame will cause discomfort. moreResolved Question: where is the best place to buy a futon online?
I do NOT want to shop at ikea. I am looking for a solid wood-frame futon and mattress set at a good price froma reputable company. Thanks! moreResolved Question: What sort of bed is this - like a sofa bed/ futon but not!?
I saw this bed made of wood that has three high sides, so can be used as a chair/lounger, but at night can put a sheet on the mattress and remove the cushions - just thought was a nice idea for a guest room so can sit and read in it, then use as a bed at night! moreResolved Question: After all that, and my back still hurts?
Okay. My back has been hurting these last few nights which has lead me to take my mattress pad off, fold it in half and camp on my floor for the rest of the night, that of corse after a fistful of pills. It works enough that I sleep until its time for classes. So yesterday, I disassembled my bed, which was a futon frame, it was starting to fold in the middle causing me to taco in the middle. Which I assumed was the problem. Now bed on floor, bed is actually a curiously heavy futon mattress. With a foam mattress pad. It still curves slightly in the middle, but after the big move and disassemble, I had an amazing nap on it. It seems this back pain only happens at night. Its seldom in my lower back but is in my upper back across my shoulders and down. Also, the dog could be assisting in funny sleep positions, he seems to think that the bed is his. How do I make this better? I would really like to sleep.Thank you for the suggestions - but the option to get a bed is minimal. Unless a) one is donated (aka free) b) its delivered... highly unlikely. I fall under the happy to have a roof over my head, and eat once a day for an expensive college education. I will look into yoga, my mom raves about it. I also do riding, which causes me to fall into a state of unconsciousness after.. which is nice. (breaking in a young horse, lots of up and down. Haven't been thrown yet though) moreResolved Question: Would this Mattress Pad help me?
Ok so I bought a futon like a year and a half ago to use at my primary bed. Well from the start it wasn't incredibly comfortable, but now it's flattened out and it's almost like I'm just sleeping on the bars. I can't afford a better mattress or another bed, So I'm thinking of buying a Memory Foam Mattress pad like this http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Memory-Foam-1-inch-Mattress-Topper/834925/product.html Would that help? Thanks. moreResolved Question: Do I need a Mattress Pad?

I'm 17, my boyfriend is almost 19, I live with my parents still, he lives in an apartment on the other side of the city. Recently, my parents decided it would be okay if I slept over at my boyfriend's apartment occasionally, which is awesome. They won't, however, allow him to sleep over at my house. Why, you ask? The only reason my mom gave me was " Not in this house." She knows I'm sexually active, and she knows that I've had sex in the house, so I can't see how she'd be worried about that. I've also suggested me and my boyfriend could sleep in separate beds (I have a futon mattress next to my bed, so we'd still be in the same room), but she wouldn't have any of it. I'm not complaining, exactly, because I know I can just sleepover at his place if needs be. But I really don't understand how my mom can be okay with me going miles away to sleep with my boyfriend, but it's not okay for him to stay here. moreResolved Question: Need adult bf advice... kind of graphic...?
While engaging in any sort of sexual activity, I am a squirter through and through. That said, most men are TOTALLY excited by this, right? Most men. Not my boyfriend. He's told me, in a nice way, that he totally hates that I squirt but reminded me that its hardly a deal breaker. Now, he and I have been together over a year and have amazing sex all the time. I purchased a waterproof sex blanket with microfiber on one side so it's nice and comfy while we protect the mattress or whatever surface it is that we're having sex on. He often elects to not use the blanket, and then will have to mop the surface of his futon mattress with a towel before falling asleep in a cold wet mess. Ick. On rare occasion I won't squirt and he seems to enjoy these sessions better... the problem is, if I don't ejaculate I don't feel that I'm *done.* If he finishes up and rolls over to go to sleep and I haven't *** at least 3 or 4 times I feel like I only got a teeny taste of what could have been, and after taking a good long while to wind down I finally fall into an unsatisfied slumber. Oh, and rather than try to manually stimulate my g-spot he will relentlessly paw at my clit even though it does absolutely nothing for me. I think he's trying to find another way of getting me off that doesn't involve the g-spot and ejaculation. I guess I'm looking for ideas on how to best handle the situation... Also, we're both grown adults (I'm in my late 20s and he's in his 30s) and we are otherwise madly in love with one another, and have been having serious discussions recently about marriage and children... so breaking up with him over something like this is a ridiculous piece of advice. I am looking for *constructive* advice. Thank you. moreVoting Question: Issue with girlfriend's parents?
My gf is 21 and just graduated college. She has moved out of her parent's house to a new town about an hour away for her job. She makes very little money and lives in a small but nice apartment. She has no furniture at all and sleeps on a futon mattress on the floor. She is basically a floor dweller. She has a two year contract and plans to live like this for the whole time. Her parents know all about it and they even set her up there. I personally think its pretty crappy that her family would let her live like that... especially sleeping on the floor like a dog. At this point she can't afford even the most basic furnishings so I think her father should at least provide her a bed. I don't understand how a loving father who once told me that he would "do anything" for his daughter can stand the idea of his daughter sleeping on the floor like a dog. What do you think?I'm not saying they should but her all kinds of really nice stuff but they could at least provide her with a basic bed to lay her head on. She has a bed after all sitting unused in her parent's home. I just think it is degrading and as a gentleman I don't see how a father can stand that. moreResolved Question: Having Body Pains at Night?
Lately I've been experiencing pain over my ribcage when I wake during the night. I sleep on a fold up couch/bunk bed with a thin futon mattress over the bars, but I also work at a restaurant that involves a lot of twisting and turning. Could this pain be a mix of the bed and my work, or something more? moreVoting Question: how do I clean the exterior of my futon mattress?
I recently received a futon mattress second-hand. The mattress exterior which is polyester/cotton has some staining on it. Although it has a zipper, it seems that the cover cannot be removed for cleaning. I would like to know some ways that it can be cleaned at home. Thanks. Help! moreResolved Question: What do you think of my girlfriend's father?
My girlfriend is 21 and moved out of her parent's home to a town about an hour and half away. She has a small apartment with no furniture and has slept on the floor on a futon mattress for months. Her father says he would "do anything" for his daughter but I find it odd that he doesn't provide for his daughter with at least a bed. She makes so little money so I'm sure she could use a little help. He never comes to visit either. What do you think of him as a father? I'm especially interested in the opinion of parents out there. moreResolved Question: Bed Bugs - Legal Action against Roommate?
Okay I will try to summarize as best I can. I live on the first floor of a three family house. The landlord and his family (6 people total) live upstairs, they occupy the second and third floor. My floor has two bedrooms that a close friend of mine and I shared until March of 2009. I finally had another roommate move in at the end of May. By the end of June I started seeing bug bites on my ankles and legs. I didn't think too much of it at first, It would only be two or three of them, and not every night. It was summer, there are mosquitoes and the house I live in is older, strange bugs make appearances from time to time. By the end of July however I noticed more of them, and on the day I woke up w/more than a dozen bites I started researching. Bed Bugs came up in most searches, along w/fleas and chiggers. The other two are easily eliminated so I focused on the bed bugs. I couldn't however find any sign of them in my room the way that any of the sites I went to said to check for them. After a week of this I figured I must be overreacting. I went away for the second week of August and the bites pretty much stopped though, so my suspicions arose again, and by the end of that next week after vacation I finally spotted one next to my pillow in the early morning hours. I freaked of course. I notified my landlord that day who had his wife contact an exterminator immediately. They were unable to come out for a full week but I was just glad something was in the works. When I spoke to my roommate however that night, to ask him if he'd gotten any bug bites lately, his reply was 'oh yeah, I'd been meaning to ask you about that,' and went on to say he thought it might be something from my birds. (I have 4 conures, I'm meticulous w/their cages and sweeping/vacuuming of the area they're in. My oldest one is almost 14 years old and I've had them long enough to feel confident I'd recognize something this major w/them.) Needless to say I was a bit insulted but I didn't want to start anything, I just wanted the problem taken care of. I assured him it did not come from the birds, and that it was in fact bed bugs. We both started trying to think of where they would have come in. Neither of us have had any visitors from out of town over w/the exception of my mother, who doesn't have bed bugs and thankfully still doesn't even after her stay. I went away once but the friends I shared the hotel room with didn't have them, nor did the hotel as far as I know, since our bags were all in the same place during our stay how could I be the only one to bring them back? My roommate had gone away for a weekend but also to a friend's house, who doesn't have bed bugs. It wasn't until later in the week I realized the bites had started appearing very shortly after my roommate first moved in. He of course said no he didn't bring them or his last roommates would have called him or something. But he used to talk of how dirty they were and had people over all the time from different areas, some of them shady. I know bed bugs aren't only around dirty people, it can happen in the cleanest environment, but the way he spoke of them I could believe they'd be of the mindset that they wouldn't mind living with it. When the exterminators finally came however they confirmed that the infestation was mainly in his bedroom, the closet in particular was inundated w/them, and my bedroom was only the beginnings of an infestation, the spillover I suppose, since his had grown so large. Even as they stood there in front of my landlord, my roommate and myself and told us this news, he still denied it and blamed it on his brand new futon that came sealed and boxed from Ikea. Now okay sure I know there are stories of people getting them in store bought mattresses that aren't as new as advertised...but really? I just find it hard to believe in this case. I also still wonder how come he never once asked me about the bites. He HAD to have been getting them long long before I did, and only said he had them when I brought it up to him. If he truly believed they were from me and not him why would he not come say something immediately? Now for as far as the process getting ready for the spraying, I had double bagged up all my clothes, emptied my drawers, pulled all sheets, blankets, pillow cases, etc... off the bed, pulled the curtains down ...all of this in double bags. Vacuumed several times - the whole house (w/the exception of his room, thru all of this that's all I've ever asked him to take care of) Everything was washed and dried on the highest heat settings. My roommate did none of this, he carried his clothes out in open bins and walked it to the laundromat around the corner. Every three days since the first spraying - which was on September 2nd - I've vacuumed the entire house, pulling furniture away from walls and going under and around everything, into couch cushions, using the extension for base boardsBugs are still not gone, the exterminators are saying it has to be on our end, either we're bringing them in still or doing our own home remedy, which would void the warranty, coincidentally, and how do you prove you didn't? Also my roommate has just told me his retail job of 1 and a half months is transferring him...so he's gone by December 1st. We split the cost of the treatments so far, $500 each...but if it ends up we need a different exterminator I will be stuck paying more...is there any way I can legally have him held responsible for this w/the exterminators being able to confirm the major infestation was in his room and the first time the bites started appearing coinciding w/his moving in? moreVoting Question: how do i know if i have bed bugs? please help!!?
i am the cleanest person and i know this doesn't matter though..a couple weeks ago i signed a lease for an apartment that turned out to be infested with bed bugs. i quickly got out of it and had my stuff there for only about 4 or 5 hours before moving it all out again. i have hot steamed my futon mattress and all of my clothes and dried many of my clothes on high in my dryer. i have also gone through everything i own and threw out many things like cardboard boxes and paper products. i even went over all my furniture with a toothbrush and amonia!!! now i am staying with my parents until i find another place and i spotted something that looked similar to what i saw at the other place. i don't know what to do. i read that bed bugs only get to a dark brown colour and this was black but had the same ridges but was more long than oval...i wish i was able to take a good enough picture but it won't show up. it was about a quarter to a fifth of an inch long but was not a rolly polly bug. please help! i thought i did everything to prevent them :-( moreVoting Question: I want a futon cover that affixes to the frame at the top to prevent it from slipping.?
I have a queen sized futon frame and a very thick futon mattress, which every couple of days slips down the wooden frame. I've tried all kinds of non-slip pads that go between the futon frame and the futon itself and none of them seem to work. I have been laid off. Am single and have found a small part time job where I can earn no more than about $800/month. The place where I am staying I pay a rent of $700 which includes all utilities, food and laundry bills. I have a single room and shared facilities (bathroom, kitchen). I found a new place to live in where the rent is $500/month but food and cable is extra. It would include sharing a two bedroom place with a university student whom I do not know at all. Should I move into this new place ($500 rent) and save money or continue to live in my old place? I will also need to buy some furniture (table,2-3 chairs, futon, mattress) since the current place provides me with these facilities. I have no qualms about buying cheap second hand stuff on craigslist or Salvation Army. How much will all this cost? I will leave the town after 8-9 months and move to Europe where I will start a professional course. So that's the other thing to bear in mind while making my decision. So I'm currently in the process of redoing my entire bedroom meaning new bed and everything. I really like the concept/look of the futon/platform beds however I have no idea where to go to actually purchase one? I'm in the DC area and I'm trying to find a few upscale places that sell them so I can actually take a look at them in real life. I'm not looking at mattress discounters ew. So if anyone can find me a few links to websites or better yet upscale stores that have them that would be greatly appreciated! moreVoting Question: How to get rid of bad stench from futon mattress?
My friend let me have his futon couch that his brother left behind when he moved into a new house. When I was analyzing it at his house there seemed to be nothing wrong with it until I finally got it to my house. The whole thing smelled like dog and other nasty things. Obviously when I removed the cover there were 3 dog piss stains (his dog has anxiety issues and pees when you approach her). I would like to clean the mattress of its dog piss stains but more importantly remove the stench. I am planning to grab a scrubber and mix water & bleach to take the piss stains out. How do you get rid of the bad smell? Please no stupid answer like just spray fabreeze, I already tried that and it just comes back. moreResolved Question: Do futons sleep okay for everynight?
I'm looking into getting a futon to sleep on everynight. I've found one at walmart, the only thing I would like to know is will it sleep better, then a mattress on the floor? Are they comfortable? moreResolved Question: i have a question about a futon?
i am planing on getting a mail flex futon for my room, and i was reading the reviews and i saw that a lot of people said the wooden bars that support the mattress break/snap. so i was wondering if there was anyway that i could replace the wooden bars with metal ones( like i could just pick them up at home depot or have them specially made). so i was just wondering if there was anyway i could replace the cheap-looking wood bars with metal ones, to support the matress. PS here is a pic of the futon i want: http://www.target.com/Mali-Flex-Futon-Aqua-Polka/dp/B00266J87M/sr=1-19/qid=1244484260/ref=sr_1_19/179-7759925-5060130?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&index=target&rh=k%3Amali%20flex%20futon&page=1 and also, for the people who have one, how is it? do you like it? moreResolved Question: Patio / outdoor furniture?
I cant afford outdoor furniture...I have looked every where and its so expensive (400 and up) is there anything else I can use for patio furniture...any ideas. We live in Oklahoma and I love the warm weather. Could I use a futon..or would it rust? If I brought the mattress in at the evenings...I feel bad that my family cant enjoy sitting outside, but at the moment we just don't have extra money for a patio set...i have even looked on craigslist and everyone that is selling theirs wants 350 and up for used stuff...any ideas at all would be helpful and please don't be rude moreResolved Question: Why did the dog we're babysitting growl and than bite my fiance?!?
Rocky (the dog we're babysitting) is the son of my dog (Chloe). We've watched Rocky MANY times before and see him on a weekly basis, so we're all very comfortable together and always have very low-stress playdates. his owner (a family member) is an alcholic, and "spanks" Rocky when he's bad after he's been drinking. Understand, I NEVER hit my dog and it makes me sick to my stomache to know he does. Heres what happened: Last night around 2am, Rocky jumped up on the bed. I assumed he wanted out, so I did. After he was done, I called him to follow me back to our bedroom (the dogs sleep on a futon mattress in our walkin closet) but he didnt. instead he ran inside his kennel and curled up (like he was scared) in the back of it. Frusterated and tired, I went upstairs and got my fiance to deal with it. Dj (my fiance) went downstairs and tried coaxing Rocky out with baby talk (we were out of treats). But Rocky didn't budge, just wagged his tail. So Dj reached in and pulled him out by his collar (gently) and Rocky ran up the stairs and to his bed. As we were getting ready for bed again, Rocky ran back down the stairs.. so Dj followed. He was back in his kennel! Dj tried a little more babytalk and pulled him out by his collar again, this time Rocky fought back a little but came out, licked Dj and ran back upstairs only to run right back down into his kennel again. Dj did the same thing, but was probably getting a little irritated (rightfully so) but never yelled at him or anything bad. He reached in again and this time Rocky growled. Dj said "NO!" very stern, but not aggressive or loud (we have people living downstairs). He reached in when Rocky wagged his tail and tried pulling him out only this time he BIT dj. It wasn't a hard bite, he said he felt teeth and slight pressure, but no pain. It didn't break the skin or leave any marks. Needless to say, Rocky spent the rest of the night in his kennel. What would cause him to do that? There was no reason for it. We've never hit or yelled at him, he knows we'd never ever hurt him! We've been his babysitter and taken him on playdates since he was just a puppy! he's 3 now btw.I also wanted to add, they are both pitbulls, but both very submissive dogs. They've been trained very well! They both wait for you to go through doorways or up/down stairs first. They listen off the leash, they submit to every dog and person they meet at the dogpark, they even submit to cats. this was the very first time I've ever heard Rocky growlmoondog - For your information, yes Chloe is spayed because she was pregnant when we rescued her. Not that its any of your buisness to begin with or that it has anything to do with my question.. Second, Yes. I do feel bad for the position I put Rocky in, THANKS for rubbing it in. But this family member was NOT an alcholic until last year when his brother died, which I had NO control over. Maybe you should keep self-righteous comments like that to yourself unless you know someones background. moreResolved Question: Dog keeps licking our New futon (The mattress) how to get her to stop?
We are constantly getting onto her about it. We tell her ugh ugh and make her get down whenever we catch her but the next day we catch her doing it again. Now I know it can taste that good.....and I know it starts by her grooming her paws and then she starts licking at it. Why on earth would she do this and how can we make her stop. (yes the dogs are allowed on the furniture and always have been since they were puppies) But no one wants to sit where a dog has made a big wet spot.... By the way she never did this with the old furniture Thanks in advance for the adviceThis is similar to the futon we have http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10794469 By the way its our Terrier mix that is doing this our poodle doesn'tMy friend brings her toddler over here I don't want him touching something with bad or hot taste and then sticking his hand in his mouthOr else I'd get some of that spray moreResolved Question: Help making futon mattress?
I have a wonderful futon but need a new mattress for it. I looked at prices online and they were really expensive! I want to make a new mattress for the futon using a new futon slip cover and was wondering if I need to use upholstery foam or is there something better (or cheaper) and were can I find the foam and/or other supplies? moreResolved Question: Bedbugs! How to get rid of them?
My boyfriend and I have been doing a lot of traveling, and we think we brought home bedbugs from one of our trips. Where we live, we know it is common to have bedbugs, but we need some help to stop them! We have done A LOT of research, and have been living with the bedbug problem for nearly 2 weeks! I have been getting eaten alive, and my boyfriend suffers minorly (we know that males tend to not show a reaction quite as bad as females do). This is a serious problem! We have invested in a "dust mite" mattress cover, and have purchased covers for the pillows. We will be getting one for the futon soon. We had the exterminator in the house the other day, and he lazily sprayed around and checked the bed area(s) and said that it was unlikely for them to travel through the carpets. We know they are laying eggs, at least one batch has probably already hatched. We have sprayed the rooms with "Pronto: bedbug and dust mite" spray several times... no luck. What should we do! If we move, we will take the bugs to the new place! should we bag up all the clothing, and wash them? Vacuum the house? I am desperate! We have been losing sleep to this infestation! moreResolved Question: Urine soaked futon mattress!! OMG! Help!?
My sister had tripletts, they are around 11 months of age now. She came for a visit and I got out our new "company" futon for sleeping. We pushed it against walls and added rails to keep the sweeties safe. This futon was purchased new about 3 months ago - warranty just expired. Blah! I think in all the rush and excitement to get unpacked and visit, our elderly aunt put the girls to bed in just PJs with no diapers. We just assumed they would be ok with her as she is very intelligent and independent. Guess senior moments can hit even the best of intentions! :-) The next day when the babies got up it was pretty late, nearly 9 a.m. as they were tired from the long traveling day before. They had totally soaked the mattress. The pediatrician says it is not uncommon for little ones around that age to urinate 4 or 5+ times a night. They still have a diet full of liquids at that age. We scrubbed the spot with towels and followed with Folex, but it had soaked nearly all the way through. You may know that futon mattresses are very thick - the good ones about 6" thick - but are stuffed with cotton. And cotton is very absorbant. There is a big brownish ring (the mattress is a dark green) where the urine has dried so far that won't budge even with gentle shampoo and lots of rinsing. The mattress smells to high heaven. Is there any way to clean it thoroughly and is there something akin to Scotchguard that can be sprayed on it (assuming we can really get it cleaned) to prevent it from being so bad in the future? IF the little ones sleep on it with no undies again? :-) I laugh because the babies are precious. But I cry because we had to save up for a while for that particular futon. We wanted something nice and comfy for guests. I'll best some of you can give me the answers I am looking for to 1) How to deep clean the mattress. Esp. with home products. And 2) How to protect the mattress for future baby dates. Thanks so much!I think the question was not read all the way through. There was no question about potty training babies. And our elderly great aunt did the honors of changing the girls for bed. (Please read that part again as it explains that). It was an impromptu visit and we are miles away from any large stores. We used an old quillt, assuming it would be enough with the addition of diapers and jammies. Of course, we had diapers on hand. Please thoroughly read the question before you give an unnecessary and not thought out at all response. That comment goes directly to Drip. But can be a plea to all as well. Where ever I go, I am constantly seeing answers to other people by persons who obviously not read the question. Ridiculous. Please do not bother to comment if you are not going to read the question. It is a waste of everyone's time. Thank you! moreResolved Question: Warning signs he is cheating?
We've been living together a year. Suddenly he has picked up shifts at work and at another job (which I haven't seen a paycheck from) and now he's working 7 days a week. Never home. Suddenly no sex. Suddenly taken an interest in bicycling to and from work when I used to take him in his car and then use his car for that day if I didn't have work that day. Started drinking every single night to the point of black-out as soon as he gets home and half way there before he comes home. Says he drank a little at work. When I try to be affectionate he seems annoyed. Makes so many excuses for his strange behavior that don't make any sense. Last night he drug the futon mattress to the basement and slept there after I fell asleep in bed. It was our anniversary last night too. And he gave me some stupid promotional object that he got for free. You would think it would mean more to him that it was our anniversary. What would you think/do? I mean, I think even a stranger deserves to be treated better than that. moreResolved Question: Where can I get sofa cushion covers?
I have an ancient wooden sofa and chair. They are made entirely of cherry wood, and the only part that is fabric is the removable cushions. (On the sofa there are three on the seat and three on the back and on the chair, one on the seat and one on the back.) It's kind of similar to a futon, but doesn't fold down and won't take a futon mattress. Years ago, my grandmother, who was a professional seamstress, made non-removable covers for the cushions. Unfortunately, the covers are hideous by today's fashion, and the furniture has been sitting in a basement for at least twenty years and now smells of mildew. My grandmother died nearly ten years ago. Where can I get covers to replace the ones that she made? moreResolved Question: My Baby hates her crib......?
My 10 month old literally hates her crib. Every time we put her in it she cries and cries. We have a futon mattress on her floor in her room. It's very low to the ground and where she sleeps, it's up against the wall so she can't roll off. We also have a video monitor that when we get can position to see her on the mattress if need be. My question to you moms is did you baby go through a phase where they hated their crib? If we put her in her crib at night, she is up every 2 hours, if not earlier. If we put her to sleep on the mattress, she is out cold for the whole night. She was ok in her crib for naps but now she is doing the same thing during the day - in the crib, she cries...on futon, out cold. Is it a bad idea to just let her sleep on the mattress on the floor if we take ALL NECESSARY precautions? She sleeps so much better and is more happy when she wakes up.
