the last time you went to a friends or family get together? Me sadly a few months ago we all met up for a distant family members funeral,a sad day in more ways than one as time and distance as so often does prevented us all from seeing each other. This weekend though a happier occasion it will my youngest Granddaughters Christening,and it looks as though we are going to have a good turnout for it. I will be having a few seldom seen members of the family staying for the weekend sleeping on various loungers and cots. I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone again. I recently went on holiday with a friend and our 'family' (her parents, her and me) got quite friendly with one of the guys who worked at the hotel (he puts up umbrellas for people, watches the pool, helps move sun-loungers etc.) One day, he invited us (me and my friend) to a beach party. He gave my (very pretty) friend his email, Facebook and mobile number, and told her to text him about it. That's when I started feeling weird about him. Luckily, we couldn't go. He then invited us to go swimming with him in the sea one day in the late afternoon. My friend asked why and he said because 'We were nice girls with a nice mum.' (or something like that). Again, we didn't go. They started texting regularly. I can only take her word for it as to what was said - she has a pin on her phone and she would only tell me what he said, I never asked to read it (it's something you just don't do.). She didn't see anything inappropriate about it - it was innocent stuff, like he'd text us 'Fruit kebabs/ice cream by the pool in 10.' and stuff like that. Then, he asked my friend 'Do you like me?' she said something along the lines of 'Er you do realise I don't like you in THAT way right?' and he replied saying 'Of course, you're only 15.'. Again, this is just loosely what she told me. I just thought this was a bit weird that a 20 year-old married man would try to get close to a supposed 15 year-old (we're both actually 14, she says her parents told him she was 15... I think it was actually her that told him that, but I can't possibly know.) and then ask her something like that. He also at some point asked if she thought he was cute or something. Again, she was very vague. I tried to tell her it was inappropriate (they were texting on a regular basis now, and at some point she tried to catch him out and asked if he had a girlfriend, when we knew for a fact that he was married. He replied something like 'Tell me who you like, then I'll tell you.'), but she didn't see much wrong with it. He was always staring at her and now I thought I had enough information to pretty much know he liked her as more than a hotel guest - and I know there's probably more texts she's not telling me about. We came back to the UK on Saturday, and I don't think she ever met with him on her own (I tried to keep her in my sights the whole time, but I have no idea) and I know she wouldn't do anything REALLY stupid, but she may have kissed him if she'd met with him, which is just gross. But that's really far-fetched, so it probably didn't happen. But she recently texted her - saying he liked her (as more than a friend). She said it was weird, that she was only 14 and he was married. He said he'd thought she was 15... but dropped it. Should I tell someone? Am I overreacting? Is he a paedophile? PLEASE HELP.Now he's in Cyprus and we're in the UK. My 13 year old daughter is at sleep away camp for the next two and a half weeks, and I want to completely re-decorate her room for her as a surprise for when she comes back. I was thinking that I could paint two of her walls tiffany blue, and the other two a lighter chocolate brown. Her room is about 13 1/2x12 feet. When we bought the house, the longer wall (13 1/2 foot) in her room had two closets that went back about 2 feet, each 6 feet long, so she had a 12x2 foot closet. What 13 year old needs a 12x2 foot closet?! So we sealed up the middle, kept one as a closet, and took the doors off the other and turned it into a book nook type thing. Right now she has a book case, a big puffy chair and a tack board in it, with a curtain hanging up the divide it from the other part of the room. I was thinking that I could take all that out, and put a futon in it. Then I could put 6 or 7 of the small circular bubble mirrors above it. How does that sound? I'm not to worried about the arrangement of the furniture, as much as what I buy. Because I can always re-arrange the furniture if she doesn't like it, but I can't replace it. I'm supposed to do a newsletter for a service that has seniors go into schools and mentor the children. (Anywhere from 3-12 years old) kinda like an "adopt-a-granny" kind of thing (although there ARE men in the group too). The program director wants the name to reflect that the agency doesn't want to promote the notion that once you become a senior, it doesn't mean that you should just sit back in the lounger and watch TV all day. Her ideal "Granny" is someone who is agile and fit. Also some who really takes the word "mentoring" to heart Will love, teach, and interact with the kids unconditionally. (Some have very bad homes). Dawn was approaching as i stood near my bedroom window, my feel on the windowsill, my body sprawled out against the wooden lounger. I'd watched the sun come up for the second time this week. Something was off, I couldn't put my finger on it. The only light in my room was coming through the three smaal, ajar windows. Each allowing only a shred of light in, shining a variety of colors on the wooden floor. Looking out the window watching how the ocean met with the shore, the waves moving eerily slow. It almost seemd as if they were hiding something; a secret, wish was theirs to know and for us to find out. I pulled the blanket over my arms as the chills started again. The sky was red, tinted purple. It was calm, almost too calm. It reminded me of when i was little and the day was so beautiful. I would boast to my mother how the weather man had been wrong, and how no storm was coming. She's simply look at me and say, "Never speak too soon my love; it's just the calm before the storm" I never understood what she'd meant at that moment, but that night came the thunder and the lightning engulfed the house, coming through the bay window. And then the tornado struck home. I knew what she'd meant right then. Shaking the thought of that night i ran my fingers through my russet hair with a sigh. I shifted my feet off the window sill, getting to my feet. As i headed through the hallways, down the staircase, the floor creaked behind me; as if to announce my coming to and empty house. If i wanted to move invonspiciously through this house, it wasn't an option. I found myself looking at yet, another empty kitchen. A plate of food was left on the marble counter top, and a bright yellow sticky note accompanied it. Any suggestions? This is just a clip of the opening of my first chapter. This is the blurb and opening 2 paragraphs to my young adult fiction story "The Secret of the Sea" Main character is an 18-year-old girl who has gone travelling with her boyfriend only to (almost) die when she has an accident diving off the coast of Australia. I won't tell you what the secret about the sea is. Blurb I felt the tide toss me around as if I were just a leaf in a hurricane of wind. Spinning in a whirlpool of blue I clambered for the surface kicking my legs, trying to escape the black of the water below which was rising to consume me. What I wouldn’t give to taste the cool air in my throat, to be on land where I could be drunk on oxygen. With one last kick for freedom I felt my legs give in, the darkness of the water washed over me as i closed my eyes and waited for my watery end to come. Down and down i sank into the depths. It surprised me how slowly death came. I’d heard people say your whole life flashes before you in the moments before you meet your maker but all I could hear was the voices in my head asking why me? Freddie was sat in his high-chair opposite me giggling- he was using his spoon to catapult his cereal at Preston, our very tolerable and patient cat. “How does it feel to be 18, Jess?” Mum asked. I’d been anticipating this question and already had my answer planned from years of recital “No different.” I shrugged. But as these words came out of my mouth like an actor reciting a play i already that knew i was lying. Everything was different. Today my life began. So would you want to read on??? What would you change?? Is it too descriptive/not descriptive enough??? How would i go about making it more interesting to read? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I have a six month old lab/pit mix and owned a boxer/pit mix. What a great dogs... I absolutely love them. The issue I'm having is that my puppy is lazy. I'm a big runner and outdoor person and when I take her out to play she just lays in the grass and plays with butterflies. I've tried all kinds of activities with her. I run with her in the mornings but only about a mile because I don't want to push her so young. She's alright with the running but doesn't LOVE it. I've tried getting her into the lake to swim but she's not into swimming, she just splashes around on the sides and will retrieve a stick only if it's shallow. She's not into playing fetch. She will run after it and then take the ball away and lay down and chew it. My pit/boxer mix was a lot like that too, just not much into the ball playing. She likes to go for hikes but it's SO hot here that I just feel cruel when I take her out into the desert heat. I don't mind at all that she's a porch lounger, in fact I like how subdued and chill she is. I just feel guilt if I'm not getting her out and getting her lots of exercise. My boxer/pit and I lived on a farm so he ran around with the other dogs all day and I didn't worry about it. I'm just trying to find an activity that she LOVES!! She does like doing tricks and things but gets bored so I'm not sure if agility would be a success. Also she's a big chewer. But any chew toy or rawhide she gets ahold of it's demolished. What toys do you recommend getting that will last and she'll like. She loves plastic water bottles and it's a real problem stopping her from getting into them and chewing them to bits... definitely do not encourage that one! Anything helps!! i had the weirdest dream last nighttt. first; it was like, the end of the world, and there ws a huge storm [its been storming where i live lately] and a bunch of random people were huddled inside our living room. there was my seniour friend, zach. he was wearing pink fuzzy socks and i kept touching them? and he only had four toenails too, which was quite odd. and then my best friend, kaylee, was there with her boyfriend in our living room ( it was the first time i ever met him). and then we were eating nachos on my stepdad's lounger chair. and we got cheese everywhere, hah. and then i got a little powerpuff girl bowl and was eating a comb? lol, idk why, but it was yummy :PP and then, i got kidnapped and drafted to this camp, in the middle of nowhere. our plane crashed into it, for some reason. at first, the lady working there said it was for fun, a military camp for two weeks. but then everything turned bad, and it was hell. we had no drinking water; there wad a dictator-like person; tiny little bunkbeds the size of a chair that we had to share and scrunch up to sleep in. and we couldn't leave. there was also a whole wall of our cameras, for some reason. and my friend leah was there, and there was a video of her trying to escape with her little sister. as a result, the dictator man exploded with anger and whatnot. so, when everyone was asleep, we decided to escape. there was also the lady from Holes, for some reason? we ran. there were guarddogs chasing us, but we soon grabbed their muzzles and they went away. so all of the evil people chased us and tried to get us, but we were just a tiny bit faster. we ran for our lives. Hi everyone, I am 5 foot 5 inches and I am at my heaviest weight ever, 220 pounds. My back constantly hurts, my knees hurt, I am always tired and I can never find cute clothes to wear. I am only 19 years old. I used to be active into sports in high school and was always exercising, after having my baby a year ago I gained alot of weight in my pregnancy and never lost much of it. I am steady gaining and I need to stop this. I am a stay at home mommy as long as my child is not in school, I will go when he goes. I want to be healthy, and lose about 75-80 pounds as soon as possible. I do not want to use diet pills or any expensive diets as we are on a strict budget at home. I want to do this so I will be at a healthier weight in about 1/2 a year to a whole year to have another baby and not gain this weight. I am so unhappy with myself and my husband is too I think, but he will not say. I am always depressed so I eat.
