My Futon Mattress Questions and Answers

Open Question: Need help to get pee stain out of futon mattress?

I let my daughter sleep on my futon and she peed the bed. I was thinking about renting a Rug Doctor (wet vac machince) to get the stain out on top and underneath. I was just wondering if anybody out there has advice on getting rid of a stain like this on top and underneath. more

Resolved Question: Are Japanese Futons Comfortable?

I'm outgrowing my bed and I need a new one... I think a Japanese style futon might be good (because my room is small and i would like to put it away for the day.) I heard that sleeping on a Japanese futon is good for your back. ARE futons good for everyday use? Should I get one? Thanks!!!! And I mean the mattress that Japanese people traditionally sleep on. NOT the couch/bed. more

Voting Question: Do you have to re-make a futon bed each night?

Im re-doing my room and would love a futon but it seems like such a hassle to put sheets on every night to remove them in the morning, no? :P Is it not possible to use the futon cover as a base sheet? Any info you can provide would be appreciated :D Also, I found an affordable futon but there are mixed reviews about its comfort. Obviously people will have different interpretations of comfort, but is 4" too thin? Can I put a mattress topper on it followed by a cover to make it thicker? more

Resolved Question: Experienced CAT people...help with cat peeing on my futon!!?

Hi, I've already researched the other answers on how to get your cat to stop peeing on the furniture, so please, I need different answers. My situation is a bit more complicated. First of all, my cat is already fixed (spayed). So that's not the issue. Here's the story: I have 2 female cats that get along wonderfully- both spayed. They are inside cats & we have a dog outside. One cat ran outside (my 3 year old left the screen door open too long) a couple days ago & my dog decided to rough her up. She's fine, but she did get a minor injury. I'm pretty sure my other cat is reacting to her friend not feeling well (by peeing on our futon). She's done it before when I've changed her food. Seems like she does it when she's upset, etc. Other than these few incidences, she's always used the litter box. As u can imagine, I've tried spraying the soiled areas with special spray (It's called Dumb Cat) and it's supposed to break up the enzymes, etc. I also put a waterproof mattress cover over the futon. So my question is, can anyone suggest any other products or sprays that work REALLY well? I need her to avoid the area. I've heard "feliway" is good. Should I thoroughly clean the area (again) with a better product & then spray the stuff that keeps cats OFF the area? Do you think she'll go find a new spot to pee on? I know, there's no way of knowing. I'd squirt her with the squirt bottle IF i was able to catch her doing it....I've only seen her do it once. I have 2 kids & I'm not always home, so it's kinda hard to stand around & watch her. Thank u in advance for suggestions!! Please, no rude comments from "dog people". I love dogs too. I also love my cats & want to fix the problem. Animals are not disposable. more

Resolved Question: My cat won't stop urinating and sometimes defecating in the house! what can i do?

He is a 9 year old cat who has never once answered nature's call outside his litter box up until about 8 months ago. I was living in a condo and my roomate got a kitten, a little after that he started to, what i believed was, marking his territory and only in my bedroom which the kitten was quite keen on sneaking into. I have now moved into a house with my boyfriend which he bought and we have no other animals, except ferrets that he has been around for years and never bothered him once. He pees on everything, clean clothes, carpets, blankets, bags and even on an expensive futon mattress. I took him to the vet and they did a urine analysis that concluded there was no medical issue and it was strictly behavioral. The house is very large and the cat is well fed, very healthy and gets an astounding amount of love and attention. I don't know whats wrong? What can i do to make him stop? more

Resolved Question: What should I do with the mattress on my futon?

My futon broke so now I'm throwing it out, but what should I do with the mattress? I don't think I could just throw it out. Any ideas of how to get rid of it? P.S I don't need to know how to fix the futon, it was getting old anyway, I just want to know about the mattress lol more

Voting Question: Help! Could this be bed bugs?

I've had bed bugs before but it was somewhere around 9 years ago. One day out of nowhere came a large bug bite. A couple of days later I noticed one more bite. I know that isn't very much but my dad mentioned that it could be from bed bugs. When I had it last time, I had many many bites. I have a futon mattress. We looked all over it and even inside where the filling is. I found nothing and so did he. We looked for probably 20 minutes. I have a really severe fear of bugs so I am freaking out. I am afraid to lay on the bed even though we found absolutely no signs of them. So, with just 2 bites in 3 days, do you think it could be bed bugs? Or more likely something else? Any help is appreciated because it is 11pm and I should be sleeping but I am afraid to lay down. My fear of bugs is irrational. So, help is very much appreciated. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Would this futon be comfortable to sleep/sit on?

I am thinking of getting a futon for our livingroom, because the couch we have now is getting ripped & my boyfriend wants something that turns into a bed, we've looked for sofa beds but can't find any our only choice of a couch/bed is a futon so i am wondering if they are comfortable to sleep on every night and to sit on daily, of course. This is the one i am thinking of buying from my local canadian tire http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/3/HouseHome/Furniture/TablesChairs/PRDOVR~0681301P/Wooden%252BFuton.jsp?locale=en If you don't want to click the link here is the description "- This traditionally styled futon converts quickly and easily from sofa to full-sized sleeper bed - Features the beauty and durability of solid hardwood armrests - Features a 6" (15 cm) microfibre mattress in tan color with a quilted top - Some assembly required" Any help? it's only $229 on sale...and original price is $299 not including taxes. I am going shopping tomorrow or wednesday out of my town so i can maybe find a couch at a secondhand store but if i don't find any i will be buying this futon mentioned but i need help because i don't know if it'll be comfortable! Resolved Question: full mattress/queen futon frame?

Resolved Question: Where can i find cheap futons?

I am redoing my room and i have a loft bed that i want to put a futon underneath it. It seems like ive looked everywhere and the cheapest i found was one at target for $99. Then i read the reviews and it said it wasnt very good.So then i found one at Walmart for $119 and the reviews were better than the other one. Are there any cheap websites (under $115) for a futon frame and mattress? more

Resolved Question: What to put under a mattress and a box spring?

I don't wanna get a bed frame for my room, i plan on just sticking the box spring and mattress on the floor. My mom is worried because the house has wood floors and she doesn't what to scratch the floors. I have a futon now, and im planning on selling it because it flips easy. Is there something like a box spring or a box spring that won't scratch the floors? more

Resolved Question: want to know the style of a futon I will describe ?

OK i know the question is a bit vague, so I apologize. The particular style I am looking for is where the couch is actually two mattresses, one makes up the back rest and the other makes up the bench seat, and when you need it, it can be pulled out to form a single bed. Ive had several of the single mattress style and having to keep readjusting it is a pain so I am looking for one like my original one described above. Thanks ahead of time. more

Resolved Question: What should I do about my sore tailbone?

I have been having a sore tailbone for about a month now, and I do know why. I recently got a new futon mattress which is thicker than the last one, but it feels more airy. It's hard to explain. The point is, I can feel the bars through the mattress when i do anything on it...sleep, lay down, sit, stand, etc. and I think that that is why I am having this problem. I had no injury that would lead to it so it HAS to be this damn futon/futon mattress. The frame itself is about a year old but like I have said, this mattress is about a month old, same as my tailbone problem. I know what kind of things I can do to stop it like pain relievers and soaking, but why even try that when the pain is just going to come back from sleeping on it and using it everyday. There is no other way to replace the mattress and we don't have the financial means to buy a better futon or buy a bed, so what should I do? If I keep sleeping on it, will my tailbone become severly damaged or anything like that? My dad did buy the cheapest futon frame in the whole store too, so that can also be a contributing factor. Here's a picture of the frame...Thanks :)https://www.boscovs.com/wcsstore/boscovs/images/store/product/images/51679947654029.jpgAlso, I cannot return the mattress because neighbor had given it to me. I love futons and have a small room so if I get a bed then it will leave me no free space :( I also like the avalibility of having a couch in the day, and bed at night. I just think we should have invested into a couple hundred dollar futon because that's what I've read. https://www.boscovs.com/wcsstore/boscovs/images/store/product/images/51679947654029.jpg <--- correct picture more

Resolved Question: What kind of bed would be comfortable for us both and not have to spend a lot of money?

I love a soft bed. We had been sleeping on a sofa sleeper mattress on the floor with a 4 in. memory foam on top. It works but i've endured minor back pain/stiffness from it. So we put the thin mattress and memory foam topper on the futon sleeper and I slept more comfortable than I have in months! I felt great! But when told my boyfriend, he complained that he hadn't and that his chest hurts, that the bed is too soft. I don't want to get rid of the foam topper but I would like some suggestions of whats a good compromise for us both. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Why do you think my sister-in-law didn't want to stay at our place?

I told my sister-in-law that she could stay at our two bedroom apartment. Our second room doesn’t have a bed, but she could bring a blow up mattress. The second bathroom is attached to the second bathroom very convent. My sister-in-law, her husband and daughter decided to stay with my brother-in-law that lives in two bedroom duplex with one bathroom. My bother-in-law has a small cramping futon and his place is a mess. My sister-in-law said that are staying over at the bother-in-laws place is because it is closer to my mother-in-laws. My brother-in-law place is the same distance as our place. I think the reason they didn’t want to stay was because I am 16 weeks pregnant and my sister-in-law had two miscarriages this year. What do you think? more

Resolved Question: So, the bedframe is too big?

My fiancee and I recently moved in together and he had a futon. The futon worked for a while until it bent and was unusable. So we had to find a frame, boxspring, and matress all on a budget. And I mean B U D G E T. We are TIGHT on money... Im not going into details on that. So we got a 44 dollar universtal type frame from Value City. It says it can be a twin to a king frame. The thing is so cheap it didnt even come with instructions, just a diagram pitcture thing. There are three sizes. A twin/full. A twin/full/queen. And a king/cal king. The ONLY difference between the first two is the middle of the queen has a bar going down. The size for the frame though is the same for a twin, a double and a queen. We have a double bed, the same size as the futon we had. After we got the frame set up and put the boxspring and mattress on the bed, we realized something. The frame is a little further from the side of the bed. About three inches further. I assume its because it could also fit a queen? We got the matress and frame pushed up against the wall - where my fiancee sleeps - and so it hangs on the left side - where I sleep - and my fiancee is scared Im going to hurt myself waking up to pee or something in the morning cause Im short. We cant fit the bed to where its not hanging out on my end, cause then the matress is away from the wall and fiancee will probably roll off and hurt himself. What are we supposed to do? There is no possible way we could afford even the cheapest frame right now. We have to save the rest of what we have for rent and utilities and will be lucky if we have enough left. The twin/full notches are the same as the queen notches. I could take picture of the box if needed. Both the twin/full diagram and twin/full/queen diagram use Fig. B to show you exactly where the notches go. more

Resolved Question: How do you sleep in camp?

Most hunters I know can just throw down a tarp on the ground, throw down a nasty unwashed sleeping bag, and boom! Asleep. I could sleep anywhere at all when I was a child, until I was about 25, but now I have some issues. First of all, I have a phobia about sleeping bags. I feel trapped, like someone could attack me in my sleep, and I couldn't fight back, and they could kill me or torture me easily because I was trapped in my sleeping bag. I carry a sleeping bag in my pack hunting because I am afraid of getting lost and dying of exposure, but I REALLY don't like to be in a sleeping bag. I am very thin, and don't produce a lot of heat. Consequently, I will put on white thermal underwear, a pair of thin socks, a pair of thick socks, gloves, a sweatshirt, and a wool cap on when I go to sleep. If it is really cold, I will put on a pair of insulated underwear over that, in addition to insulated down booties. I will then sleep under two thick blankets. I will sleep in a small tent with a rain fly. I use an old futon mattress to lie on. I actually prefer to use an actual pillow. As I am a very small man, with little ability to fight, I keep a handgun with me when I sleep, usually a small semi automatic, with no round in the chamber, so I won't accidentally shoot myself. I have a lot of fears of sleeping alone in the woods. I fear robbers/killers/Blair Witch/UFO abductions/Strange Noise, etc. I dislike sounds in the night. My ideal solution, is whenever possible I try to persuade someone to sleep with me in the tent. When someone else is with me, I have no problems, and go right to sleep. I like being in the woods. But I really hate sleeping, particularly at night in the woods. This has practically destroyed the pleasure of hunting for me. I have a person who can tell me where to be opening day, but the stress of camping out the night before, really makes for an unpleasant and tired first day. Right now the only way I have of dealing with this, is I really suck up to my friends when I am about to go camping, and I beg, beg, beg one of them to come with me. Does anyone else have these issure about camping?Jeremy Deer eat the shoots of baby trees. Angeles national forest can only hold so many deer, or the forest will die off. 100 years ago, all the deer were killed by mountain lions. Now they are killed by hunters. Given a choice, I would rather be shot by a bullet than killed by a Mountain Lion. But that is just me.Guess Jeremy took off. more

Resolved Question: How much should i sell for my futon??please help?

Resolved Question: Is it weird to use the second bedroom as a dining room?

We have a small, two bedroom condo. There's not enough room for a table in the living room, so we eat off the coffee table. Apparently, many people think it's wrong not to have a table. Anyway, we had been using the second bedroom to house our two computers and a giant futon, but I had the crazy idea to turn it into a dining room, with a small desk pushed up against the wall for my computer. I figure we can just get an air mattress, since it doesn't make sense to devote half the room for guests who are rarely around. Is it crazy to do this? The room is down the hallway (albeit a short hallway) and is a real room with carpet and a door. When not in use by fondue dinner parties (yes, they're awesome), it could be our nerd game table. Is this weird? Yes, I know what truly matters is if my boyfriend and I are happy, but clearly other interests matter since other people have pushed us to want a table (and he kinda wants one too--I'm the slob in the relationship). more

Voting Question: What are these maggot-like bugs that are black with orange horizontal line on their back?

I was cleaning out a storage closet that I keep dog food in and other things, and at the bottom of the closet is a futon mattress. On top of the mattress after taking everything out I saw the exoskeletons of these tiny wormy like bugs. I then lifted up the mattress and I saw some living ones. I am completely disgusted. I know that it might have something to do with some dog food crumbs I found. I always keep my house spotless I don't know how I could have gotten them. Can someone tell me what they are? more

Resolved Question: im 11 with back and neck pains what do i do?

Im 11, about a year ago I fell on a wooden floor really hard. Hard enough to pull up the board I fell on ever since then my back and neck always hurts. At first it hurt, but not as bad as it does now. I sleep on a futon(bed that turns into a couch) I can fill the bars through the mattress and I know that is making my back hurt even more. I mention to my parents that my back hurts all the time but they just say im to young to have back problems.I think they say this cause like I said im 11, and parents just don't understand. My back has been hurting really really bad here lately I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE! Resolved Question: How do I convince him that the couch is NOT the litterbox?

TJ has pissed on my futon (I'm using the words couch/futon interchangably through this post - - same piece of furniture) again. I'm getting EXTREMELY frustrated, almost to the point of wanting to rehome him! Here are the things I have tried: Veterinary exam and urinalysis -- Yes, he has a MILD UTI, and he did get an antibiotic injection for it. This was 2 days ago. I thought surely I'd see a little improvement by now. Besides, this recent jig of him peeing on the couch hasn't been the only time. He's done this I'd say every couple of weeks for the past 2-4 months. The past 2 days he's peed on the couch twice. He is neutered, and to my knowledge there are not any intact cats in the apartment complex. I've cleaned the couch with Nature's Miracle, hoping to remove any left-behind kitty smells. I will be changing the decorative cover on the futon AGAIN today. Previously, I had tried all sorts of dish soap/vinegar/baking soda/peroxide concoctions -- I'm surprised it didn't eat a hole through the futon mattress. In my 500 sq. ft apartment I have ONE cat and TWO litterboxes which are scooped EVERY day. The addition of the second litterbox just happened a couple of weeks ago after the LAST time he peed no the couch. One of the litterboxes is situated immediately next to the couch. It is a covered litterbox. The other litterbox is in an opposite corner, uncovered. I use Tidy Cats litter. I tried a feliway plug-in for about a month until the little oil canister ran out. I have not bothered to buy a refill, but I intend to go out today to get more feliway. (Should I get a diffuser refill or the feliway spray?) My veterinarian/boss has suggested possible behavioral medications -- i.e., buspirone or fluoxitine. I haven't done this yet but am seriously considering it. Short of opening the front door and throwing him out (no, I won't, despite the incredible urge), what else can I do?! He's an adorable, sweet, affectionate kitty and I love him to pieces, but I also love having the opportunity to sit down on a comfortable piece of furniture after a long day working at the hospital! *sigh* more

Resolved Question: Cheapest way to move a small amount of boxes and furniture from Windsor, Ontario to Calgary, Alberta?

I have about 15 small boxes of my things....currently all able to fit in my bedroom closet... a futon mattress, a small dresser, a computer desk, two night stands, and a very small "one hand can lift me" bookshelf. Resolved Question: Where to find an inexpensive pull out sleeper sofa?

I'm moving into a studio apartment in two months and am looking for a sleeper sofa but am having trouble finding what I'm looking for and want to see if anyone else has found something suitable that can point me to the right company/brand/store. Here is what I need: I will be sleeping on this bed exclusively for two years while I'm in Grad school so I want one that pulls out (so I can put nice sheets on it and people wont be sitting on it all the time) I do not want one that folds flat like a futon. I'm looking for a full but will settle for any size if it's in my price range. Styling is unimportant My budget is $550.00 but I would really like something under 500. Ikea has one for 499, but it doesn't look to be very high quality and I just feel like there has to be one out there somewhere a little nicer I will no under any circumstances purchase a used sleeper sofa. So no craigslist. I am a very fastidious person who is appalled by the idea of sleeping on a used mattress from someone I don't know. In my mind it isn't clean and could have bed bugs or fleas in it, so I need something new. I know a lot of you out there live in studio apartments. How did you solve this problem? What did you buy to sleep on? more

Voting Question: Nostalgia/flashbacks of non-traumatic memories causing anxious/nervous feelings?

Sometimes smells, tastes, and sights make remind me of previous times in my life, and I immediately feel a little nervous/anxious like my stomach is fluttering. The memories aren't of any specific traumatic event, but rather just times in the past. For example: *I found a bottle of hairspray that was 2 years old, and when I sprayed it the smell of the hairspray immediately took me back to the last time I used it (2 years ago during my freshman year) and I had a quick panicy/anxious feeling. *Or, today, I took a deep breath, and all of a sudden the humidity in my apartment reminded me of 1 year ago when it was similarly humid and I just started living here. *Or, when I was packing, seeing the mattress of my futon reminded me of when I first moved into my old apartment and didn't have bedsheets at the time. Anyway, every time these memories come to me, I immediately get an anxious/nervous feeling in my gut and in my mind. Do other people feel like this too when they get nostalgic or a triggered? Do you know why I might feel like this? Thanks. more

Voting Question: I'm 19 weeks pregnant and I'm having severe hip pain...?

So this past Monday I woke up early in the morning to this severe hip pain in my right hip. I flipped over to find that I also had pain in my left hip. Of course, I can't sleep on my back or my belly so my only options are my hips and, with both of them in pain, I decided to get up. When I got up I almost collapsed. I slowly sat down and put a heating pad on my right hip (where the pain was greatest) and eventually the pain went away. I had the same problem on Tuesday and the same thing happened. This happened again this morning but this time the pain never completely went away. The pain was extremely piercing this morning to the point where I couldn't find any comfort. As time passed, the pain softened but, today, it has not completely gone away. In fact, I've been limping around the house all day and I can't get any chores done. I feel like I'm about to tip over and, though both hips are in pain, the right one feels like there's a huge bruise on it that I just can't see. Both hips feel as if they are about to pop out. Now, this is my second pregnancy. I know there can be discomfort around this time when you are pregnant and I did feel that with my first but this pain is different. I have never experienced anything like this before and it has me worried. I have pregnancy pillows, memory foam pillows, down pillows, cotton pillows, a futon mattress and memory foam pad on top of my mattress so I know I'm doing everything right and, yes, I do keep my body pillow between my legs at night and additional pillows under my feet. All this week I've tried different ways to position the pillows and I've tried all of the different types of pillows and the pain continues to get worse. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any advice on how to get some comfort? Is this something I should be worried about? Thanks so much for your help in advance! more

Resolved Question: Can you use just a memory foam to sleep on (no bed, no mattress) for a day or two?

Will it be painful or comfortable? I will be living in a small apartment. I need something in which my guests (say, a couple) can sleep on for a day or two. I need to be able to fold it to a very small size and put away. I do not have a lot of storage space so the folding beds are not an option. I might go for a futon but would prefer not buying a large furniture. Any suggestions? more

Resolved Question: What futon mattress is best for long term sleeping? And does it have a warrenty?

Resolved Question: Do I need a box-spring with a platform bed?

I have a platform bed. The bed has slates, not all one flat surface -- the slates are wide wooden pieces, with spaces in between them. For about a year now, I've just had a futon mattress on top of it, but it's not the most comfortable thing in the world (the mattress, that is), so I am going to replace it. My question is, when I buy a regular mattress for the platform bed, do I need to use a box-spring with it? more

Resolved Question: I "gave" my friend a mattress, could I ask for it back?

My friend was moving into an apartment, so I told him he could use my futon since he didn't have a mattress and bed. He has since moved to another apartment and has bought a new full size bed. I can't recall if I said he could have it or if I offered to let him use it. I didn't expect to need it back, so I guess we were both under the impression that he could keep it for a long time? Since I am moving places soon, I asked him if I could use the futon for a couple of weeks before I secure an actual bed. I plan on asking another friend to help me transport it to my new place. The thing is my friend wants the futon back after I get an actual bed because he wants to use it for couch surfers (though he has an actual couch). It sort of irked me the way he phrased his response, "Sure, I use it for couch surfers so I would like it back." I guess I still assume that I am the rightful owner even though he is in possession of it. And he obviously thinks the futon is his. I guess my question boils down to whether or not I am being an Indian giver? And am I responsible for transporting the futon back to him after I am done using it? more

Voting Question: Should I toss a Futon that is around 8 years old? (or just buy a new slip cover)?

2 of the metal hinges underneath the futon mattress are broken but I suppose some strong glue like substance could fix that. It is a bit creaky but nether-the-less not unbearable (at least to me) I've never slept on anything better in my life than a cheap mattress and I am young so... What should I do? And if money were no object I wouldn't even bother asking this... I just want an opinion or two. more

Resolved Question: Any ideas on how to keep my futon mattress from folding?

I have a futon and the mattress keeps on folding. At the part of the mattress that is sitting up the corners keep on folding down revealing the frame. I was thinking Velcro could help, but maybe someone with a similar problem has a better solution? Just to clarify, it isn't slipping off the frame, the mattress is folding over. Thank you :) more

Resolved Question: is it safe to sleep on the top bunk if the futon on the bottom isn't on the bed?

i have a bunk/futon bed, and the futon mattress is being used on the living room floor for my moms friend, now the top bunk is REALLY wobbly, is it still safe to use? more

Resolved Question: do you think that if i get a spring futon mattress, it will be almost as good for your back as a normal bed?

first off, i am used to using a traditional spring bed, i am not into those fancy space age beds. the mattress i am getting is more expensive than the typical futon mattress. i used to sleep on a bed but decided to get a futon. my concern is that just because it feels comfortable when i tried it at the store , how will it be in the long run? i will get it in a couple of days and there is a 30 day return policy. i also picked the less expensive futon frame with the more expensive mattress, so i dont know if the cheap bed frame will cause discomfort. more

Resolved Question: Moving to my first apartment! (small efficiency) Futon, Mattress or Sofa Bed?

Been renting rooms for years, and now I'm finally ready to get my own little place. I'm trying to save space and money basically. I'd like for there to be a comfortable place for people to sit when they visit. I'd prefer not to have a mattress and frame as that would require a lot of space and its not very versatile and cant be moved much. I also dont want something really uncomfortable. I've slept on air beds and floors for years, but I'm not trying to go that route. I only have a bedroom, kitchen, and small bathroom. My bedroom would have to double as a living room basically. Whats the best option for me? Pros, Cons? I'd like to keep it simple and spend no more than $500 on all my furniture. Thanks more

Resolved Question: What type of bed can you suggest for a small box room?

Hi I'm an average size adult on a budget, having to move last moment. I'm going to be staying in a friend's spare box room for up to 7 months, we were going to put an old bunk bed in there but it's warped with age and unusable, so I need a new bed. The room is fairly petite (200cm by 165cm). If lain on the floor it can fit a single mattress. I was thinking of getting either a high/mid sleeper or a futon. Trouble is a lot of them seem to be 200cm+, or else not designed for everyday use, My budget is around £150 but TBH since I'm not going to be there very long I'd like to spend as little as possible. more

Resolved Question: getting vomit out of a black sofa futon mattress?

Okay my son got sick and throw up on my black futon sofa last night. I saw post about using baking soda and vinger as well as other stuff. But my sofa is black that would bring out the color. There is no stain showing since it is black but he was drinking OJ before bedtime and his tummy didnt want him to have it. It smells like Spoiled OJ in my living room now. I have cleaned it the best i can but I know it soaked throw. I cant find a replacement mattress so how can i clean it until i do find one? I already did the water with towel thingy... I vaccum it hoping to bring some of it back out. I sprayed it with Air Wick since I prefer that over frebreeze. more

Voting Question: Buying a new bed: Do you think futons or memory foam is more comfortable?

I slept on a futon while preggo with one of my kids, and it was heavenly. I slept so well and had no aches and pains, so I want one again. My boyfriend says that memory foam mattresses are more comfortable though. I thought about just getting a memory foam topper and putting it on my current mattress, but that's a $200 waste of money if I don't like it and decide to buy a futon instead. Any opinions?Oh and the bed is not something we'll be buying together- we don't live together so it's pretty much up to me. more

Resolved Question: How do you STOP a cat from peeing on a futon?

I have had absolutely NO problems with my cat since we got him as a kitty 2 1/2 years ago. He always used the litter box and we clean that about every to every other day. He is neutered and never sprayed in his entire life. We recently got two Golden Retriever puppies a month ago and he is adjusting quite well to the change. Once, we brought the puppies down to the basement and shut the door to the cat's litter so they wouldn't go in there and eat the poo.... of course my husband then FORGOT to re-open the door and we found that the cat had peed and pooped on the new futon. Yes, it was completely our fault and we felt really bad about it. However, now he won't stop urinating on the futon. We have cleaned the futon MANY times and even sprayed the mattress itself with a non-ammonia cleaner. Fortunately, he still uses his litter box to go the bathroom but he seems to feel the need to mark his territory by peeing (and yes peeing not spraying) on the futon every time we clean it. Is there any way to break a cat of this habit without buying a new futon?? I appreciate any help I can get! Thanks more

Voting Question: Looking for suggestions for a portable, easy to move guest bed.?

I live in a resort area and am thinking of renting my condo during peak season so that I can make some extra money. I have a small 2nd bedroom that doubles as my office and art studio. I'd like to get a bed that can easily be moved in and out of my storage unit when I have guests or renters. I would like a full-size bed so there is room for 2 to sleep. I don't want a traditional mattress-boxspring combination. I don't want a futon either, or an air mattress. I already have those. I don't want a murphy bed either. I want something that is comfortable, but that I can move without too much trouble (I am a small person). Does something like this exist or is this wishful thinking? more

Resolved Question: Whats a reasonable price to ask for this futon?

I have this futon in my basement, its very nice and its out of the way so nobody ever sits/lays on it, its a metal futon and one bar underneath is bent, but other than that its like new, i have a picture of a futon exactly like it because i was unable to take a pic, http://www.focusfurnishing.co.uk/images/Atlanta%20Futon.jpg the only difference in the picture is that mine has a different pattern on the mattress, mine is red and gold diamons all the way across with a black bottom, i am thinking about selling it but i need a reasonable price to ask for on it, any help?? more

Resolved Question: After all that, and my back still hurts?

Okay. My back has been hurting these last few nights which has lead me to take my mattress pad off, fold it in half and camp on my floor for the rest of the night, that of corse after a fistful of pills. It works enough that I sleep until its time for classes. So yesterday, I disassembled my bed, which was a futon frame, it was starting to fold in the middle causing me to taco in the middle. Which I assumed was the problem. Now bed on floor, bed is actually a curiously heavy futon mattress. With a foam mattress pad. It still curves slightly in the middle, but after the big move and disassemble, I had an amazing nap on it. It seems this back pain only happens at night. Its seldom in my lower back but is in my upper back across my shoulders and down. Also, the dog could be assisting in funny sleep positions, he seems to think that the bed is his. How do I make this better? I would really like to sleep.Thank you for the suggestions - but the option to get a bed is minimal. Unless a) one is donated (aka free) b) its delivered... highly unlikely. I fall under the happy to have a roof over my head, and eat once a day for an expensive college education. I will look into yoga, my mom raves about it. I also do riding, which causes me to fall into a state of unconsciousness after.. which is nice. (breaking in a young horse, lots of up and down. Haven't been thrown yet though) more
