Resolved Question: Experienced CAT people...help with cat peeing on my futon!!?

Hi, I've already researched the other answers on how to get your cat to stop peeing on the furniture, so please, I need different answers. My situation is a bit more complicated. First of all, my cat is already fixed (spayed). So that's not the issue. Here's the story: I have 2 female cats that get along wonderfully- both spayed. They are inside cats & we have a dog outside. One cat ran outside (my 3 year old left the screen door open too long) a couple days ago & my dog decided to rough her up. She's fine, but she did get a minor injury. I'm pretty sure my other cat is reacting to her friend not feeling well (by peeing on our futon). She's done it before when I've changed her food. Seems like she does it when she's upset, etc. Other than these few incidences, she's always used the litter box. As u can imagine, I've tried spraying the soiled areas with special spray (It's called Dumb Cat) and it's supposed to break up the enzymes, etc. I also put a waterproof mattress cover over the futon. So my question is, can anyone suggest any other products or sprays that work REALLY well? I need her to avoid the area. I've heard "feliway" is good. Should I thoroughly clean the area (again) with a better product & then spray the stuff that keeps cats OFF the area? Do you think she'll go find a new spot to pee on? I know, there's no way of knowing. I'd squirt her with the squirt bottle IF i was able to catch her doing it....I've only seen her do it once. I have 2 kids & I'm not always home, so it's kinda hard to stand around & watch her. Thank u in advance for suggestions!! Please, no rude comments from "dog people". I love dogs too. I also love my cats & want to fix the problem. Animals are not disposable. more

Resolved Question: want to know the style of a futon I will describe ?

OK i know the question is a bit vague, so I apologize. The particular style I am looking for is where the couch is actually two mattresses, one makes up the back rest and the other makes up the bench seat, and when you need it, it can be pulled out to form a single bed. Ive had several of the single mattress style and having to keep readjusting it is a pain so I am looking for one like my original one described above. Thanks ahead of time. more

Resolved Question: What should I do about my sore tailbone?

I have been having a sore tailbone for about a month now, and I do know why. I recently got a new futon mattress which is thicker than the last one, but it feels more airy. It's hard to explain. The point is, I can feel the bars through the mattress when i do anything on it...sleep, lay down, sit, stand, etc. and I think that that is why I am having this problem. I had no injury that would lead to it so it HAS to be this damn futon/futon mattress. The frame itself is about a year old but like I have said, this mattress is about a month old, same as my tailbone problem. I know what kind of things I can do to stop it like pain relievers and soaking, but why even try that when the pain is just going to come back from sleeping on it and using it everyday. There is no other way to replace the mattress and we don't have the financial means to buy a better futon or buy a bed, so what should I do? If I keep sleeping on it, will my tailbone become severly damaged or anything like that? My dad did buy the cheapest futon frame in the whole store too, so that can also be a contributing factor. Here's a picture of the frame...Thanks :)https://www.boscovs.com/wcsstore/boscovs/images/store/product/images/51679947654029.jpgAlso, I cannot return the mattress because neighbor had given it to me. I love futons and have a small room so if I get a bed then it will leave me no free space :( I also like the avalibility of having a couch in the day, and bed at night. I just think we should have invested into a couple hundred dollar futon because that's what I've read. https://www.boscovs.com/wcsstore/boscovs/images/store/product/images/51679947654029.jpg <--- correct picture more

Resolved Question: How do you sleep in camp?

Most hunters I know can just throw down a tarp on the ground, throw down a nasty unwashed sleeping bag, and boom! Asleep. I could sleep anywhere at all when I was a child, until I was about 25, but now I have some issues. First of all, I have a phobia about sleeping bags. I feel trapped, like someone could attack me in my sleep, and I couldn't fight back, and they could kill me or torture me easily because I was trapped in my sleeping bag. I carry a sleeping bag in my pack hunting because I am afraid of getting lost and dying of exposure, but I REALLY don't like to be in a sleeping bag. I am very thin, and don't produce a lot of heat. Consequently, I will put on white thermal underwear, a pair of thin socks, a pair of thick socks, gloves, a sweatshirt, and a wool cap on when I go to sleep. If it is really cold, I will put on a pair of insulated underwear over that, in addition to insulated down booties. I will then sleep under two thick blankets. I will sleep in a small tent with a rain fly. I use an old futon mattress to lie on. I actually prefer to use an actual pillow. As I am a very small man, with little ability to fight, I keep a handgun with me when I sleep, usually a small semi automatic, with no round in the chamber, so I won't accidentally shoot myself. I have a lot of fears of sleeping alone in the woods. I fear robbers/killers/Blair Witch/UFO abductions/Strange Noise, etc. I dislike sounds in the night. My ideal solution, is whenever possible I try to persuade someone to sleep with me in the tent. When someone else is with me, I have no problems, and go right to sleep. I like being in the woods. But I really hate sleeping, particularly at night in the woods. This has practically destroyed the pleasure of hunting for me. I have a person who can tell me where to be opening day, but the stress of camping out the night before, really makes for an unpleasant and tired first day. Right now the only way I have of dealing with this, is I really suck up to my friends when I am about to go camping, and I beg, beg, beg one of them to come with me. Does anyone else have these issure about camping?Jeremy Deer eat the shoots of baby trees. Angeles national forest can only hold so many deer, or the forest will die off. 100 years ago, all the deer were killed by mountain lions. Now they are killed by hunters. Voting Question: What are these maggot-like bugs that are black with orange horizontal line on their back?

I was cleaning out a storage closet that I keep dog food in and other things, and at the bottom of the closet is a futon mattress. On top of the mattress after taking everything out I saw the exoskeletons of these tiny wormy like bugs. I then lifted up the mattress and I saw some living ones. I am completely disgusted. I know that it might have something to do with some dog food crumbs I found. I always keep my house spotless I don't know how I could have gotten them. Can someone tell me what they are? more

Voting Question: I'm 19 weeks pregnant and I'm having severe hip pain...?

So this past Monday I woke up early in the morning to this severe hip pain in my right hip. I flipped over to find that I also had pain in my left hip. Of course, I can't sleep on my back or my belly so my only options are my hips and, with both of them in pain, I decided to get up. When I got up I almost collapsed. I slowly sat down and put a heating pad on my right hip (where the pain was greatest) and eventually the pain went away. I had the same problem on Tuesday and the same thing happened. This happened again this morning but this time the pain never completely went away. The pain was extremely piercing this morning to the point where I couldn't find any comfort. As time passed, the pain softened but, today, it has not completely gone away. In fact, I've been limping around the house all day and I can't get any chores done. I feel like I'm about to tip over and, though both hips are in pain, the right one feels like there's a huge bruise on it that I just can't see. Both hips feel as if they are about to pop out. Now, this is my second pregnancy. I know there can be discomfort around this time when you are pregnant and I did feel that with my first but this pain is different. I have never experienced anything like this before and it has me worried. I have pregnancy pillows, memory foam pillows, down pillows, cotton pillows, a futon mattress and memory foam pad on top of my mattress so I know I'm doing everything right and, yes, I do keep my body pillow between my legs at night and additional pillows under my feet. All this week I've tried different ways to position the pillows and I've tried all of the different types of pillows and the pain continues to get worse. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any advice on how to get some comfort? Is this something I should be worried about? Thanks so much for your help in advance! more

Resolved Question: I "gave" my friend a mattress, could I ask for it back?

My friend was moving into an apartment, so I told him he could use my futon since he didn't have a mattress and bed. He has since moved to another apartment and has bought a new full size bed. I can't recall if I said he could have it or if I offered to let him use it. I didn't expect to need it back, so I guess we were both under the impression that he could keep it for a long time? Since I am moving places soon, I asked him if I could use the futon for a couple of weeks before I secure an actual bed. I plan on asking another friend to help me transport it to my new place. The thing is my friend wants the futon back after I get an actual bed because he wants to use it for couch surfers (though he has an actual couch). It sort of irked me the way he phrased his response, "Sure, I use it for couch surfers so I would like it back." I guess I still assume that I am the rightful owner even though he is in possession of it. And he obviously thinks the futon is his. I guess my question boils down to whether or not I am being an Indian giver? And am I responsible for transporting the futon back to him after I am done using it? more

Resolved Question: Any ideas on how to keep my futon mattress from folding?

I have a futon and the mattress keeps on folding. At the part of the mattress that is sitting up the corners keep on folding down revealing the frame. I was thinking Velcro could help, but maybe someone with a similar problem has a better solution? Just to clarify, it isn't slipping off the frame, the mattress is folding over. Thank you :) more

Resolved Question: Moving to my first apartment! (small efficiency) Futon, Mattress or Sofa Bed?

Been renting rooms for years, and now I'm finally ready to get my own little place. I'm trying to save space and money basically. I'd like for there to be a comfortable place for people to sit when they visit. I'd prefer not to have a mattress and frame as that would require a lot of space and its not very versatile and cant be moved much. I also dont want something really uncomfortable. I've slept on air beds and floors for years, but I'm not trying to go that route. I only have a bedroom, kitchen, and small bathroom. My bedroom would have to double as a living room basically. Whats the best option for me? Pros, Cons? I'd like to keep it simple and spend no more than $500 on all my furniture. Thanks more

Resolved Question: If you were me, would you be angry in this situation? Do I have a right to be PISSED!?

I'm FIRE angry! Earlier, I went to do my normal monthly grocery shopping. Unexpectedly, this religious hypocrite stalker neighbor of mine was moving out. I'm thinking, "YES! I'm THANKFUL she's leaving." She harassed & stalked me the entire 2 yrs. I've lived here. So, she was putting her furniture on the curb & advertised it for free for anyone to get. She knows & is aware of my OCD, anxiety, depression, & Tourette's disorders but doesn't care. She offered me her furniture since she knows all I have is a flat mattress from 2 yrs. ago from my futon that broke because of me being overweight (I lost a lot of weight since 2007). I accepted her free furniture offer out of fear of her embarrassing me in front of her friends about my mental disability, in which she ended up doing anyway. She asked me to help. So, I caught on to the fact that she made an *** out of me by giving me something "free" just for an excuse to enslave & embarrass me in front of her friends. Before I knew it, she was asking me to help her move this & move that. Take out the trash. When she said that, I was like, "No. My OCD." Then, she went off on me, saying I was using my disorder as an excuse. & she threw in my face about the furniture she gave me, while wearing the EXPENSIVE Nike shoes I gave her PLUS lots of music CD's, we both cooked for each other throughout the 2 yrs., & we had our ups & downs. I tried to have patience & take her s hit! & be nice. She used my disability against me & also the fact that I don't believe in Christianity. But she KEPT trying to stay on my @$$ all the time. She treats me like a child that's WAY below her, & we're not even 2 full yrs. apart. She was angry & used me to take her anger out on me. She broke her lease, which the landlord doesn't allow, & got mad because the woman who was supposed to take over didn't show up. Why me? She COMPLETELY humiliated me, & she kept telling me things to provoke me to outburst even more, & I wanted to leave, & she tried to say, "Little girls leave. Women stay." I felt obligated to stay there & help, while being treated like horse manure. So, she said my cursing was disturbing & that I was using my disorder as an excuse. @ 1st, her friends were understanding of my explanation of my disorders. & I had 2 strokes @ age 5. So, me & her got into a heated argument, & her friend switched gears on me & started taking her side & saying to me, "Yeah, she knows because she studied this. You are using your Tourette's as an excuse." So, I told her, "Don't listen to her. I have to suffer through this every day & live with this condition." She continued to agree with the neighbor & tried to play a psych game on me by saying, "You're invading my space & putting me in defense mode." I'm like, "Now, it's REALLY time to go! & I just have to be a little girl." & the religious stalker neighbor was like, "Yeah, I did this study on this guy, & he was jerking & cursing"... & whatever, whatever. & she said, "He cannot help it. You can help it. I've seen you for 2 yrs. Yes you can control it. You're using it as an excuse." I grew angrier & angrier. Now, HER furniture is in my apt., & I can't get it out. I don't want her s hit! I don't want to be reminded of her nor her friends! We have efficiency apts. So, her friend who said I put her in defense mode, was an idiot because the apartment is ALREADY enclosed! Duh! The apt. is structured where you have to take the hinges off the door to even put your BIKE in there! So tiny. I see a neurologist for my TS, & the stalker neighbor thinks GOD will take away my disability. I don't believe in him. I believe in a higher power by another name. I told my friends about it, & they're pissed & want to hurt those girls. I'm 26, my friends are 30, & the neighbor & her friends are like my age & 28. 1 of my friends said that if the neighbor was a TRUE believer of God, then she'd have patience with my disability & not treat me like she does. This isn't the entire story, but I can't think straight right now, & space is limited. more

Resolved Question: redoing my room for a cheap price?

I live in Minnesota and I want to re -do my room. I'm 13 year old girl and my room is really small so I was thinking of getting a convertible sofa. I thought that would be easier than a futon, since you don't have to buy the mattress and frame separately. I want to know where to get the cheapest one. I'm thinking about having a zebra theme, with maybe a zebra cover for the convertible sofa and a zebra lamp or chair. My carpet is a whitish- color, so i don't feel the need to replace that. but my walls are in need of a paint job and it's one of the things i need to do to re - do my room, so i want lime green walls, then 3 stripes going around all of the walls. the colors of the stripes would be blue, pink, and orange.I need a new lamp too. I have a window on one side of the room, and on the wall next to that there is a big desk that used to be attached to my bunk bed thing. I'm thinking of getting rid of that.I have a hot pink furry rug that I don't know what to do with, and two mattresses laying on the floor right now. but i'm getting rid of those. In my closet is this entertainment stand sort of thing where i keep most of my stuff. my room is really small so I want a convertible sofa to make more room . I wanted to know if anybody has some ideas for it and the biggest thing, WHERE CAN I GET ALL OF THIS FOR A CHEAP PRICE? more

Resolved Question: Which type of mattress is best for me?

I'm 14, and I have a hard time sleeping. I toss and turn a lot before I fall asleep, and it usually takes me a while to fall asleep. I feel sore, groggy, exhausted- basically, still half asleep when I wake up. I have MINOR scoliosis (so it's not that serious, YET), so I have back pains sometimes. So, I need a mattress to help me with all this stuff. And I kind of prefer something that's on the firm side. So should I get a mattress that's memory foam, latex, gel, spring (though I really hate spring mattresses), a futon, tempurpedic, intellibed, sleepnumber? I was considering an ikea mattress with a tempurpedic topper, but I'm not sure which ikea mattress? Keep in mind, I'm about to start hardcore marching band soon, AND I'll be walking around school for 8 hours. I need a mattress that will give me a REALLY good night's sleep. Resolved Question: Dog keeps licking our New futon (The mattress) how to get her to stop?

We are constantly getting onto her about it. We tell her ugh ugh and make her get down whenever we catch her but the next day we catch her doing it again. Now I know it can taste that good.....and I know it starts by her grooming her paws and then she starts licking at it. Why on earth would she do this and how can we make her stop. (yes the dogs are allowed on the furniture and always have been since they were puppies) But no one wants to sit where a dog has made a big wet spot.... Resolved Question: Urine soaked futon mattress!! OMG! Help!?

My sister had tripletts, they are around 11 months of age now. She came for a visit and I got out our new "company" futon for sleeping. We pushed it against walls and added rails to keep the sweeties safe. This futon was purchased new about 3 months ago - warranty just expired. Blah! I think in all the rush and excitement to get unpacked and visit, our elderly aunt put the girls to bed in just PJs with no diapers. We just assumed they would be ok with her as she is very intelligent and independent. Guess senior moments can hit even the best of intentions! :-) The next day when the babies got up it was pretty late, nearly 9 a.m. as they were tired from the long traveling day before. They had totally soaked the mattress. The pediatrician says it is not uncommon for little ones around that age to urinate 4 or 5+ times a night. They still have a diet full of liquids at that age. We scrubbed the spot with towels and followed with Folex, but it had soaked nearly all the way through. You may know that futon mattresses are very thick - the good ones about 6" thick - but are stuffed with cotton. And cotton is very absorbant. There is a big brownish ring (the mattress is a dark green) where the urine has dried so far that won't budge even with gentle shampoo and lots of rinsing. The mattress smells to high heaven. Is there any way to clean it thoroughly and is there something akin to Scotchguard that can be sprayed on it (assuming we can really get it cleaned) to prevent it from being so bad in the future? IF the little ones sleep on it with no undies again? :-) I laugh because the babies are precious. But I cry because we had to save up for a while for that particular futon. We wanted something nice and comfy for guests. I'll best some of you can give me the answers I am looking for to 1) How to deep clean the mattress. Esp. with home products. And 2) How to protect the mattress for future baby dates. Thanks so much!I think the question was not read all the way through. There was no question about potty training babies. And our elderly great aunt did the honors of changing the girls for bed. (Please read that part again as it explains that). It was an impromptu visit and we are miles away from any large stores. We used an old quillt, assuming it would be enough with the addition of diapers and jammies. Of course, we had diapers on hand. Please thoroughly read the question before you give an unnecessary and not thought out at all response. That comment goes directly to Drip. But can be a plea to all as well. Where ever I go, I am constantly seeing answers to other people by persons who obviously not read the question. Ridiculous. Please do not bother to comment if you are not going to read the question. It is a waste of everyone's time. Thank you! more

Resolved Question: Replacing a futon frame but keeping the old futon mattress, what size frame do I need?

Hey guys, We had the Martha Stewart futon set and the frame went out on us. We don't want the same futon frame. We want to purchase a new one. The only info I can get from the website (including the mattress) is 83" W, 36"Dx 34"H and 54"D in sleeping position. There is no seperate info for the mattress, so I'm not sure if we should go with a "full" frame. Thanks in advance! :) more

Resolved Question: will a futon work for two? for only 6 months?

HI I've been looking for options to use as a bedding. I'm on a very tight budget and i was looking to but a futon in big lots for 199 plus a 20% discount the problem is that is the display futon and is been out there for 6 months the guy in best buy told me it wouldn't last for two people but when i sat down on it, it felt very solid. he told me that it wouldnt last after he found out that it was 160 and he said for me to wait till he put it on clearance so if it breaks they can give me a new one which would mean that i would pay 199 not 160 and i would have to sleep on the floor for maybe two days should i believe him or just go ahead and buy that one at 160 since its cheaper for me and my boyfriend. do keep in mind that is for daily use of six months? oh yeah and mattresses are too expensive for me....... or should i just buy a cheap one from walmart? plz help me ive heard sooo many bad reviews from people that bought futons in walmart or other places and it seems like if u dont put it together right it breaks... Voting Question: Should I be more high maintenance?

High maintenance means setting up standards and not being able to compromise your own standards for low values. Quite a few of my asian girlfriends have standards in finding bfs. Am I putting up with alot or overreacting? This is my list: 1. Must be educated past a high school diploma, or in college but not starting college at age 30-40 (he says it's priority but he's not ready so he's filing for unemployment or working across the street and not to mention he's dealing drugs) 2. Must always keep up appearance around women, girls especially on dates (no pizza stained t-shirts and sweaty attire, I get this all the time) 3. intelligent, funny, gentleman (never yell or criticize a girl no matter how much you disagree with her, he did yesterday because I was listening to Nightwish) 4. Being able to keep promises and stay true to one's word (This one has been broken a lot and I usually get yelled at because he doesn't think it's a big deal that he offered to pick me up or get me medicine, but later he said something came up and I can't) 5. Surprise her once in a while with something small or pick her up when you say you're not going to be there.) (I got lots of last minute phone calls with I'm going to be late or I can't pick you up, come over to my house... later it's lets fuck) 6. NO smoking or alcoholism out of pure habit. Social gatherings is fine, but daily is not good. (I'm at least tolerant compared to lots of people I know in this, but it's not enough to him and he thinks I'm being completely unfair that I'm judging this relationship by this) 7. Must value my opinions and feelings: says he cares but I can't expect him to change, because I'm only hurting his feelings whenever I say so. 8. Must show respect for hygiene: (his room is disgusting, got a mattress on the floor as a bed. First things I spotted yesterday coming over: underwear and pants on the floor, 3 bowls with grease from food the night before, cluttered laundry, the smell of stale smoke, greasy napkin paper near his keyboard, broken futon, and him saying fuck everytime he wants to discuss politics with me)  more

Resolved Question: How to stop my trained shih tzu from peeing on my sofa?

I have had my male shih tzu for 3 years with no problems. All of a sudden this past summer he started pooping and peeing on my futon when he was out of my eyesight and would then go hide in his cage. Once I caught him in the act and he ran. I corrected his behavior. It got to the point where I replaced the futon mattress because the smell wouldn't go away. Everything was okay, then he started the same habit on this futon. He won't poop or pee anywhere else in the house. A few times when I corrected/ scolded him, he tried to bite me. I have his cage fixed now, but I discoverd he was letting himself out of the cage when I was sleep or away. I corrected this behavior. He's very loved, sweet, smart, and calm. I just don't understand. He knows that this is wrong, so why does he keep doing this? He use to roam free when I wasn't home and/or sleep pretty much all of the time. Now it's at the point where I put him in the cage if I'm gone for 10 mins.I have got a new sofa and loveseat. I definitely don't want to give up on him, but I'm worried he might try this on my new furniture. I really love my dog, but I'm running out of patience. Help!Let me add a few more details. I got my dog as a puppy and I have had him for 3 years with no problem. He is trained to urinate, etc outside. He won't do it on paper/ training pads, so when the weather is bad I still take him out. He isn't neutered. Will that help? He gets plenty of attention I walk him everyday and reward him with a treat for good behavior. He's my little shadow. However when I broke up with an ex-boyfriend (who is a dog lover too ) in May I noticed a slight change. We remain friends and he came to visit me for the first time in months last week. My dog was very excited and started wimpering when he left. When friends and family come over they show him lots of love. Recently he started barking at one of my best friends but not her kids. He's extremely loving. If he's in his cage when people come over, he wimpers if h can't come out to play. I don't give in to his wimpers. He's lonely when I'm gone to work, but he has plenty of toys. more

Resolved Question: How do I keep the cotton from shifting in my futon mattress from shifting making it hammock like when slept on?

It makes a deep body impression from the cotton shifting. I have put several quilts folded up under the mattress pad to lessened the deep hole. I also noticed the mattress pokes through and puffs in between the wooden rungs on the bottom. Has nothing to do with the weight of the person, does this for everyone more

Resolved Question: Opinion on cosleeping with 10 month old baby?

I'm looking for opinions on cosleeping with our baby. Please no judgement calls from anyone on how cosleeping is not safe, etc. For the last month, our baby goes down at night and when she wakes up we just take her out of the crib and sleep with her. We have a futon mattress on the floor in her room, up against the wall. I or my husband, whoever has the "night shift" will lay down next to her and she sleeps SOUNDLY until the morning. Trust me, we have tried everything and being sleep deprived, this is what we have resorted to and it works great -we all get good sleep! But my question is, is it better to keep her in her own room on the mattress or would it be alright to bring her in bed with us? I thought that perhaps keeping her in her own room would keep her in her own environment but let's face it, the futon mattress isn't all too comfy for me or my hubby! She's great during the day with naps - sleeps in her crib fine, it's only at night. What would you do - her room or bring her in bed with you? P.S. - we never thought we would cosleep but again, this is something that we just started doing recently but with trying EVERYTHING and even having our pediatrician telling us she's out of ideas, this is what we resorted to and honestly, I LOVE IT! I love waking up next to her and hearing her every little breath during the night - it's such a wonderful sound. I'm just wondering if it's ok to bring her in bed or to keep her in her room to make the transition of her sleeping alone (eventually) easier since she'll still be in her own room. Opinions welcome, but again, please no judgement calls on cosleeping. Every parent has a choice to do their own thing and yes, there are concerns with cosleeping which is why we are VERY careful with it. Thank you to everyone! more

Resolved Question: HELP! I need design advice for my home office

Okay, so i have a really boring cluttered home office and i really need help. It has white walls (blech) and a lot of black and dark cherry wood furniture. I really would like to keep with the cherry wood. Unfortunately i have a bland, uncomfortable futon (blue "mattress" with black "supports") that i can't get rid of. I also cannot get rid of the large map of town and the large high school class pictures displayed on the wall. (though i would appreciate some help on how to display them, right now its pretty much one, then below, another...) Anyone have any ideas for wall color ( i REALLY need help with that) and what i can do about the futon and what i should do about the wall displays and etc? Right now my home office is very cold, bland and unattractive-looking. I really want to soften it up while keeping the pieces i already have (2 end tables, 2 desks, a book shelf, all in dark cherry wood. Also the futon, though it seriously needs help). Any advice is appreciated. Thank you! more

Resolved Question: how do you keep afuton matteress from slipping down with no ties.?

Resolved Question: I need an idea on how to keep my futon mattress from slipping?

The futon frame is steel. The mattress is covered in a cotton cover, probably completely typical to all futons. But, I keep it in the upright position and use it as my sofa. For some reason, and it drives me crazy, when someone sits on it the mattress starts slipping down. So, the top of the futon framework becomes visible and looks awful. I try to fluff it up again, but then it slips again. The seating part (the bottom) is not angled down, in fact, it is angled inward. But still, the mattress slips down and probably eventually wants to make its way to the floor. Drives me nuts, and I can't afford a new one or a sofa. Help? more

Resolved Question: has anyone ever cut a regular mattress in half to use on a futon?

I have a futon, and I want to get a better mattress thna the foam one it came with, the high end futon mattresses are expensive, like 7 or 8 hundred dollars. I want to know if anyone has ever sawed a regular mattress half way in the middle (keeping the two halves attached) so it will bend when the futon is in couch mode, but still be like a normal mattress when it is laid flat. Could this be crazy enough to work, or am I just overly tired and should sleep before sawing my mattress in half? by the way, I'm completely serious. If anyone has ever done that, please let me know how it all worked out ;) more

Resolved Question: Metal Futon Frame Assembly Question?

I have a futon from Walmart the 108 dollar one with the metal frame and 6 inch mattress, well I got it together fine and dandy and when I was almost finished I was putting on 3 hooks to the center of the frame that I think are supposed to keep the futon from trying to fold up when you sit directly on the center so I put them on and it doesn't work, when I sit in the center it indents a little bit what have I done wrong? more

Resolved Question: Futon matress sliding off? Replacement handles needed.?

We bought a futon a couple years ago from Walmart. At some point, we lost the handles that you use to lift up on to fold it into a bed. Apparently, those handles also keep the mattress from sliding down when its in the "couch" position. Obviously, Walmart doesn't have any ideas on where to get replacement parts. Any ideas? more

Resolved Question: My bedroom has a musky smell?

I have recently noticed in the mornings my bedroom has a musty, dark odor. A friend of mine had the same smell and i hated it! I know he had different bedding than me so i don't think that is it. I want to get rid of it but not sure where it is coming from. I sleep on the floor on a thick futon mattress with a thin Korean style futon mattress on top of that for extra cushion. The Korean futon, sheets, and pillow cases are silk and I wash them once a month. I have thought about putting the futon in the sun to see if that helped and I air out the room daily. I am not sure if it is me, the mattress, sweat or what! I do keep the door and window closed but have forever and it is only recently the smell started. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have also used fabreeze at nasaum! I just don't know what it is.The sheets can't be cleaned more than once a month because they are pure 100% silk. I have consulted many designers, fabric fabricators and such and they all recommend to keep the silk in good condition to not wash it more than once a month or it will fall apart. The baking soda idea and vaccum are great totally slipped my mind! more

Resolved Question: Can roaches live inside a futon mattres?

I keep seeing baby roaches in the same corner of my apartment and on my futon. I dont know where they are coming from but friends ask if they are inside the mattress. I dont know how to tell and am afraid to take the cover off and look. They may also be coming from baseboards. I dont know how to tell. I have had the apartment exterminated twice and still have this roach problem. I can't sleep because every time I lie down I see a baby roach crawling by my face. It's not cute. Questions: Should I buy a vinyl mattress cover for my futon? Can an egg have hatched inside there? (It's on an iron frame, just as an FYI) Would the roaches eat bed bugs if maybe I had those in the mattress and didn't know it? I IZ S0 SLEEPY.... PLZ H3LP MEE??? more

Resolved Question: Is my cat sick? Weird fluids!!?

So I come home from school the other day to find a big wet spot on the futon mattress in my spare bedroom where I keep my cat while I am gone. I am pretty sure it is NOT urine because it does not smell like anything. As gross as it sounds I even smelled a clump of the urine in her litter box to compare. Her urine is pretty dang strong and smells kind of like amonia. I cleaned the wet spot up as best I could, let it air dry out side even. Today I came back from school and found another wet spot with no odor!!! FYI: There is nothing in the room that could have been spilled, even her water dish is on the other side of the room and was still pretty full of water. She is almost a year old and spade. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!Well if it IS drool then that is a LOT of drool. I wonder if it is vomit, but if that is the case how come there are no food chunks or any thing? It appears to have the consistancy, coloring and smell of WATER. more

Resolved Question: How can I fix my futon mattress?

I've been using my cheap, metal futon only as a sofa since I bought my bed a few months ago, but it's becoming less and less comfortable. The mattress is slipping through the crack between the back of the futon and the seat, and no matter which way I turn it, it keeps doing so. This makes sitting in it more painful than relaxing and I often find myself sitting on the floor instead. Is there any way to fix my mattress? more

Resolved Question: dog peeing on bed?

Ok, so I just brought my maltese to a new apt. She is not used to being alone all day. I left today for only 45 minutes, and she peed on my bed. I have to keep her in my room because of my roommate situation..and i only have a futon mattress on the floor because I cannot afford a higher bed. I'm leaving the radio on, the fan on, her toys, bed, and one of those bones filled with peanut butter. I know this is separation anxiety, but I cannot afford to be cleaning my bedsheets everyday! Do you think she will get used to this situation over time? I have no choice but to leave her home because I am going to start working soon. I hate to leave her..but then again, I know she used to sleep all day when she was living in my parents house. I might just have to send her home again, which will be very hard for me... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.my dog is spayed. she is 2 years old and for the most part she is potty trained..but for some reason she has issues being alone and has to pee on the bed.. more
