TJ has pissed on my futon (I'm using the words couch/futon interchangably through this post - - same piece of furniture) again. I'm getting EXTREMELY frustrated, almost to the point of wanting to rehome him! Here are the things I have tried: Veterinary exam and urinalysis -- Yes, he has a MILD UTI, and he did get an antibiotic injection for it. This was 2 days ago. I thought surely I'd see a little improvement by now. Besides, this recent jig of him peeing on the couch hasn't been the only time. He's done this I'd say every couple of weeks for the past 2-4 months. The past 2 days he's peed on the couch twice. He is neutered, and to my knowledge there are not any intact cats in the apartment complex. I've cleaned the couch with Nature's Miracle, hoping to remove any left-behind kitty smells. I will be changing the decorative cover on the futon AGAIN today. Previously, I had tried all sorts of dish soap/vinegar/baking soda/peroxide concoctions -- I'm surprised it didn't eat a hole through the futon mattress. In my 500 sq. ft apartment I have ONE cat and TWO litterboxes which are scooped EVERY day. The addition of the second litterbox just happened a couple of weeks ago after the LAST time he peed no the couch. One of the litterboxes is situated immediately next to the couch. It is a covered litterbox. The other litterbox is in an opposite corner, uncovered. I use Tidy Cats litter. I tried a feliway plug-in for about a month until the little oil canister ran out. I have not bothered to buy a refill, but I intend to go out today to get more feliway. (Should I get a diffuser refill or the feliway spray?) My veterinarian/boss has suggested possible behavioral medications -- i.e., buspirone or fluoxitine. I haven't done this yet but am seriously considering it. Short of opening the front door and throwing him out (no, I won't, despite the incredible urge), what else can I do?! He's an adorable, sweet, affectionate kitty and I love him to pieces, but I also love having the opportunity to sit down on a comfortable piece of furniture after a long day working at the hospital! *sigh* more

Im 13 btw...(people always ask lol) Here I am, High once again. Not really high, just enough for a bit of a buzz. I’m high in the one of the 2 places I could ever feel safe in. My room. My room with the gross water stained walls. They really need a new coat of paint. I have a desk covered with band stickers, pictures, and other crap that has accumulated over the years. There’s a small futon in the corner of my bedroom. The window is broken and glass still lies on my Grey shag carpet. I have a few punk band posters hanging on the bare walls. other than that, nothing’s really is in my room. But for some reason it is my own personal safe house. My name is Carmel, Carmel Williams. I’m 17 and live in downtown L.A*. I live with my mom and no one else. Life is hard but we find ways to get by. Finals are in a few weeks, but knowing myself, I won’t go. I have a queen sized futon frame and a very thick futon mattress, which every couple of days slips down the wooden frame. I've tried all kinds of non-slip pads that go between the futon frame and the futon itself and none of them seem to work. I am looking for a futon cover with cloth loops that actually AFFIX to the frame, which is made of wooden slats with gaps between them, so the loops could go over the top. My boyfriend wants us to send his parent's money. His mom had to take medical leave recently and, may not be able to scrape by to cover the cost of their bills. I feel bad for their situation but, We don't make alot of money and, we just moved into a place with just a futon, some boxes and, some dishes. I plan on going to school this winter too so, I was planning on saving up some money to get a laptop or, something but, this all is starting to seem not possible now that his parent's are in need of financial aid. We make together about $3000 a month and, spend about $1400 on bills. I feel almost like I'm going to have to give up my social life, not go out etc just because, all of this is happening now. I offered to get a second job to help but, he doesn't want me to as he feels that this would stress me out too much. I wanna help but, I'm trying to figure out how I can make this work. more

My grandmother came to visit and we had no furniture, literally one futon and some covers. She went crazy and decided the I HAD to buy furniture (she is a very forceful person) SO we bought the furniture, she cosigned and said it would be a good way for me to build some credit. It was a 6 mt deferred payment plan. She told me that she was going to pay for half and I would pay for the other half. At that time she was also receiving an SSI check for my brother (because he was under 18 and in H.s) she would send off part of it and helped me pay half of the rent, but this help only lasted 6 months. To say the least my family is all screwed up! Anyway, she stopped sending money and I had to start paying for the rent and utilities on my own which ended up being ALOT of money. I dont have to mention that she never helped pay on the furniture (which I still owe on) So after talking to a "friend" he was telling me that he's in realestate and that he could help me get on my feet while improving my credit score, so when I graduate from college I would qualify for things! So I was to purchase a house and receive 6000 at closing 2000 of which would be invested in order to pay off the taxes for the year. I wasn't planning on living in the house for two more years, until I graduated from college. I used the 4000 to pay my rent in my apt for the rest of the year and that made my bills a lot more manageable for the time being, that was until I found out that the "management company" was not collecting the rent. Although I had been receiving NOTICES and receipts for payment! From what I understand the house went into foreclosure, I never even had a set of keys! I had known this guy since i was a little girl and I can't believe he scammed me. He's a close family friend! After reading up on the situation, Iearned that I was in the wrong for saying that I was going to live in the house when I wasn't planning to. Now I have a foreclosure and debt because of the furniture . I was just trying to make life normal for my little brother and I, but I ended up ruining mine! I don't know what to do, where to go, who to turn to! I dont have the financial stability to hire a lawyer and at this point I am being sued by HSBC for the furniture, but I have no way to pay them, nothing to pay them. I can't even settle because I don't have the money. I live in Michigan and finding a job is virtually impossible, literally I have applied everywhere from department stores to office buildings and no one wants me because of my lack of FULL TIME job experience (I have been a student and worked 35 hr/wk for the last 4 years) . Please help me! 2 days ago - 6 days left to answer. Additional Details If I don't file for bankruptcy, how long will this foreclosure loom over me and what are my responsibilities concerning the foreclosure? How will the taxes pay out? I don't even know who to contact on this HSBC has already served a summons, how can I handle it from here. I got a laptop at Best Buy, the screen has a crack in it because it fell and hit a corner on my futon, so now there is a crack and the screen is apparently frozen. Resolved Question: How do I stop my dog from eating my couch?

I have an old futon that I cover with a sheet to make it less ugly. I had to wash the sheet a few weeks ago and leave the futon uncovered for a day. I'm using a foam pad to bulk up the cushion and make it more comfortable and while it was exposed, my dog became obsessed with trying to chew and eat it. Now that it's covered again, I figured that "out of sight, out of mind" would mean she would forget about it and leave it alone. However, it's been weeks and she is constantly digging at the cushions and pulling the sheet off so she can chew the foam. I'm not sure how to deter her from doing this. Simple scolding works for about 5 minutes, then she's back at it. I've tried Bitter Apple on the pad, pepper, spraying her with water...nothing is really working. Anyone have any suggestions to stop this? more

Resolved Question: Any tips on how to get my cat to quit laying on my clean laundry?

I fold my clothes on the futon in the den when I take it out of the dryer. When I'm doing multiple loads, I will leave them there until all the laundry is done and then put them all away. Okay, I admit, sometimes I leave them there for a day or two . . . or three. :) But then my cat lays on them and gets them all covered in cat hair and I have to wash the ones on top again. What can I do? I don't want to hit him because he won't really know what he has done wrong. I know that squirting him with water won't work because I do that when he gets on the table and the only thing that has ever accomplished is getting him to get off the table when he hears me coming. I don't want him to just get off the laundry when he hears me coming. I want him not to get on it ever again. I've looked at some of that cat repellant spray that they have for training cats, but it stains clothes. So I can't very well spray it on my laundry, or my futon. Anyone have any suggestions? more

My cat pees in his litter box half the time, and on my (WHITE!) futon the other half of the time. He does this even if his litterbox is perfectly clean. I don't know what to do. He's been doing this nearly every day now, and every day I scrub and try to get the stains off. The futon is ruined but I'm afraid to get a new one because the same thing will happen! His litter is covered because we live in a very small apartment in NYC. The futon is pretty close to it but I have no options in terms of moving it because of how the apartment is set up. Any suggestions? I really can't afford the vet (last time we were charged $450 because the cat had diarrhea. Absolutely ridiculous) and I don't think he has a UTI. Help! He pees there when we are there and when we're not - no preference.Also, my cat has a covered litter box, and he has stop covering his poop- I have no idea why.Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm definitely going to try Feliway and maybe an open box. He IS neutered, and he has used his closed box for a long time (3-4 months before he started this). Not sure why he's starting this now. Also, he is actually peeing, not spraying when he does this. Hope this helps with further suggestions.. more

Resolved Question: Pet odor/ Cleaning Futon?

How do I get the stink of dog out of my futon and sofa? I can't wash these things, but the odor is embarrassing. Febreeze only works so long and slip covers won't do the trick. Also, my dog has chewed rawbone on the futon so now there is a sticky white substance all over it. It won't merely wipe off and scrubbing it with a sponge isn't working well either. How do I take back my furniture? more

I don't have a lot of furniture - pretty much the basics. All my furniture is miss-matched - especially in the living & dinning rooms. All my furniture is hand-me-down & antique store finds, they are great solid pieces but all have different finishes and styles. I would love to be able to buy new furniture, but I simply cannot afford it at all. My walls are currently white and I have wood floors and lots of great wood trim. I am seriously thinking of painting all my furniture a shade of white & adding white slip covers for my futon(aka the "sofa") and recliner. I am also thinking about painting the walls a nice soft green or soft blue. I have great art and accessories to work with - just really missed-matched furniture. I'm just not sure if this look will improve what I have to work with or if it will look worse than before. I am an artist and I want my home to reflect who I am. Do you all think it's worth the risk? Any help with suggestions would be great. more
