I'm a 33 y/o gay professional. I make about 100k per year. I am debt free and want to ditch my car (read: I need to be close to the T). I don't have a job yet (moving in November) but I anticipate working IN Boston. I need a 2 bedroom (or a 1 bedroom with an office - I telecommute often). I enjoy a vibrant city life (lived in NYC for a long time) so don't want to live in the 'burbs... My last visit I spent a lot of time in Copley Sq. and really liked the vibe and also Harvard Square was nice, too. I like to be close to shopping as well as close to bars/restaurants... I anticipate my rental budget to be about $1800 after all is said and done. So I ask, with this budget, and my lifestyle, what areas do you recommend? I don't really need to make a ton of friends IN my neighborhood - I have friends scattered all over the city so that's not really super important. Thanks! moreResolved Question: How many rental apartments are there in Boston?

I'm looking for an apartment in the Boston area (I'm looking mostly around Fenway, Back Bay, and Cambridge) and I was wondering about average utilities prices in the area. My problem is that I've found some apartments that are in my price range at $1200 per month, but utilities are not included. I've glanced briefly at apartments that are more expensive ($1300-1400) and it seems that they mostly include utilities. I don't have much rental experience, so my question is, would utilities cost $100 or more? Because if they do, it would just make sense to get the more expensive and nicer apartment with the utilities included. Any insight here is helpful! moreVoting Question: Early termination for a rental agreement in MA....?
I live in a high rise in Boston, MA I signed the lease in May, and a month later I started getting a cough and had trouble breathing, I went to the doctor and found out that the lack of fresh air (windows don't open) and the fact that we have a HVAC unit (heating and ac) which is super dusty and only get cleaned by management once a year. I ideally would like to live in Manhattan - even if I have to live in the UES or UWS under the 115's...
