Homes For Rent Apartments Questions and Answers
Open Question: Is my brother a bully or some kind of mild sociopath?
My brother is now 29 and I am 25. I love him more than anything and since we were kids always stood up for him, was loving, giving, etc. If kids bothered him I put them in their place. Him on the other hand, although I am sure he loves me would let them push me around, make fun of me, and even join in sometimes. I don't know if he did this to fit in. He also had some behavior problems when he was younger, tried to fit in, then in college lied to my parents about having finished his degree and he had not, meanwhile they were paying tons of $$$. He finally finished though. As adults the relationship can be from seeming to others that we are best friends, because we go out with groups of friends, seem close, but he does things like bully me, if we have the slightest disagreement he throws me out of his apartment, is stingy, and says mean things in front of his fiancee to me to the point where I am embarassed even for him. My parents are letting him live rent free in their 2nd floor to help him save money but as soon as he gets a place they want to help me in the same way, being that the economic times are tough. He says that he wants to use that same apartment to collect rent for himself (something that would help my parents and me, with their retirement years my med school loans etc). When we told him that it is unfair and that both children should be treated equally he told me, "it's not my problem, you go on welfare if you can't make it in life." My parents send him to an expensive college, bought him his first car, helped him do construction on the apartment and he shows no appreciation. He just yells at us, leeches off of us, uses both our cars so he doesn't have to take his precious sports car and put miles on it, but does not help with the bills at home at all. We have to beg him. I want to know if their could be a problem or if he is just a bully? moreOpen Question: How much does it cost to live on your own in Sacramento, CA?
I need to move out when I turn 18 due to problems at home and with my family. How much would it cost, realistically, to live on my own in a studio apartment in sacramento, roseville, citrus heights, rocklin or the surrounding area? I mean the bare minimum cost, including car insurance, rent, food, medical insurance, etc. I would be paying for everything on my own. Thank you for the input! moreOpen Question: Should I disown my sister?
I am 27/m. my sister is 23. I am gay, and my sister and family know about it, and its not a big deal. My parents pay for her tuition and rent for an apartment where she attends college. Throughout our childhoods, my parents always had a double standard in dealing with us. For example. if she did something wrong, she would get yelled at a little and nothing more. If I did something wrong, i'd practically be screamed at for a half hour, grounded, or hit. Whenever me and my sister got into arguments. she would win by default because my dad would intervene and tell me stuff like "shut your stupid f'in mouth". "lower your dumb voice", etc.. etc.... meanwhile she would be yelling just as loud as me, but nothing said to her (well rarely). I got laid off from a good job a few months ago and i'm living at home, and she is home for the summer. I try daily to be nice to her and she just yells at me to leave her alone. she contributes nothing. she lays on the couch, controls the TV, doesnt even clean up her laundry in the bathroom, or her food garbage on the coffee table. and again, she's rude to me on top of it, in spite of my kindness efforts to her. I am beginning to lose my love for her. She is really good at exhausting it. getting back to the point i made in the beginning..we had a little argument (over her laziness), and seeing she had no other card to play, she played the gay card on me and said something about my orientation. I'm starting to see her as a spoiled ingrate and she is of no use to me in life, only an obstacle and a nuisance. she is dating this guy my age, and she doesnt dare talk to him the way she talks to me. my friends say i should get over it because she is my sister, but on that same token. arent I her brother? shouldnt she treat me with at least a c*** hair of respect? i really dont know that i want anything to do with her in the future. does anyone empathize with me? any non-cliche suggestions or advice?and for your information Ansolobo and bad girl. i got LAID OFF a few months ago, and i do pay bills...been paying them for a while too! so dont tell me to "start paying bills" I am looking for a job too. and are you telling me to get a boyfriend so i can get out of my house? I'm so happy that i am not a naive youngster who would take your advice, because you seem to give it bad. start reading into these questions more instead of jumping to ignorant conclusions. moreOpen Question: Will this be enough to support ourselves? i'm pregnant and going to college.?
I found out I am 2 months pregnant, which I am happy about and excited except for the fact I am in college and I have future university plans and I am not sure if we make enough to support ourselves or not. So I need your help. I am 20 and I have been with my boyfriend for 3 and a half years now and our family is completely happy for us just to fill you in some. I am in my 2nd year of community college and I will be due in march which is fine because I only have one month left of college anyways, but I wanted to go to university the next year because I can get my transfer credits and I would only have 2 years left and I will have my bachelor which will increase employment wages and chances of getting a job. Even thought I am pregnant I am not giving up on that dream of mine to get a good education. I have found out that you can take the bachelor online and thought distance learning so I am happy I can do that. I can get student loans for that I was going to have to anyways which is fine. What I am unsure about is that we live at home now and we can't live at home once that baby is born so I need to figure out if we have enough money to be able to rent an apartment or pay on a mortgage. My boyfriend makes 1600$/month and I have asked someone and baby bonuses are 400$/month so that is 2000.00$/month income we will have. Apartments in my area are about 650$/month everything included and than you have to pay cable, internet, and phone extra. Also we will need to buy needs for the baby like food diapers etc... and personal needs like toilet paper, laundry soap, FOOD, plus gas for our cars. I can work during the summers and I might be able to work while taking my courses online I dunno yet btu If I couldn't handle it could we still get by on that much income. We have family to help us if we ever got low on money to buy diapers and etc ... but they can't pay for too much right, so do you think 2000$/month is enough for rent and the other bills and needs? any advise or anything I don't know about getting money from the government for my baby? Thanks so much! moreResolved Question: One Day Eviction? ( can it happen? )?
i live in an apartment building our rent here is due on the 1st of every month, if it isnt paid by the 5th of the month they add a 100.00 late fee, well the situation is that i had asked a friend to pay my rent for me because i was out of town then come home to find out that she didnt pay the rent she spent my money ( long story short ) she is no longer but friend, but i still couldnt come up with my rent in the time needed.. $785.00 then today i get an eviction notice on the door that says.. pay the money or leave the property by 8/17/2010.. thats tomarrow, is a one day eviction legal? its impossible to move out of a place within 1 day? moreOpen Question: Can I break my lease?
I live in north carolina and have been renting a trailer for the past four months with my gf. We initially did a walk through and noticed slight mold in the bath room, kitchen and bedroom. We also noticed a few outlets in the kitchen were exposed and non functional .We noted this on the property management's damage inspection sheet. We were assured it would be looked into. Sounded good to us so we signed the lease. It is now 4 months later and they have finally started to fix the issue after the problem got worse and we wouldn't leave them alone about it. They have since found massive water leakss due to roof damage. This is the cause of the mold and the exposed sockets, the structure has serious issues. I came home from work to find the contractors trying to clean the wall with water/bleach mix, I ask them if they were certified to remove this mold, they were not. The mold covered the ENTIRE wall on the interior. I brought this up to the property management people and requested they get the mold tested to see if it was dangerous and to have itprofessionallyy removed. They flat out refused at 1st. I mentioned to them that if I had too I would cal the department of health and a building inspector. They now said the owner will have to approve ordisapprovee to get it tested and then get a professional mold remediation company to fix it. It's been a few days now, we aren't living in the apartment since there aremultiplee exposed walls with mold exposed and it is uninhabitable. well suprise, suprise the owner's don't want to pay for it. This has been going on for months and I'm just basically sick of it. I've been thinking of just taking the owners to court and suing for a full deposit and move out expenses so we can find a new place to live. Would this be feasible? They have offered to let us out of the lease if we submit a notice 30 days in advance and pay another month of rent and they may deduct from the security deposit. moreOpen Question: Website for holiday apartments?
Hi! A while ago I read about this website for apartments you could rent. It was like a listing site where regular people could list their home and rent it to somebody while they are on holiday themselves. The prices were low and you could rent apartments or houses almost anywhere in the world. Anybody know what site this is? Completely forgot the name! moreOpen Question: What would you do? Live with parents or get own place?
So me and my husband are having to down size our home and we were planning to get our own place just smaller and cheaper. Well my dad gave us an offer to move in with him, his girlfriend and her daughter who is 25 we are 24 and 22 with a 5 month old son. We will have to pay a small rent of 300 per month which is over 1000.00 cheaper than what we are paying for our house. Well that sounds so great but the problem that I'm having is we won't even have our own room my family will be in the basement with her daughter sharing a bathroom with her, my son however will have his own room but all three of us have to share one closet and his room is going to be about 8xmaybe 10-13(it's very small). In her basement there is one normal size room which my step-sister has who might I add doesn't pay rent or anything and then the little tiny room, a living room and a bathroom. Me and my husband will be sleeping in the living room and our walls will be sheets and we will have a tv with a couch for us to use. I really hate the fact that we have to live like that and pay rent when her daughter doesn't pay a dime gets a pretty good size room. The only thing my husbands is thinking about is money. I would rather pay the extra amount to get our own 2 bedroom apartment and not have to live by their rules(yes we have rules). So what do you think is more important being able to save a lot of money and get our own place in a year(which my husband wants to do) or getting our own place for our family and not have to stress about living with 3 other people?? Just want to see what everyone else thinks. Thanks!!I with both of you, my husband is the kind of person that is always thinking about ways to make extra money and once he found out about this he was all for it. moreOpen Question: Anyone know anything about boats?
I have an 88 bayliner capri. I bought it from a guy who knew nothing about it but got it from someone living at his apartment complex as collateral because they didnt pay their rent. I am 22 years old and just bought a boat, so I took it to the shop, they got it running and "tuned it up" and i went on my way and enjoyed my summer. It ran fine all summer, rarely had any problems starting, but at the end my lower unit went out. I replaced it myself for cheap, took it for a test drive, it did fine but it was the end of the summer so i took it to a mechanic and got it winterized. When i took it back at the beginning of this summer, all he did was hook up the hose and got it to run. It ran okay for a few minutes and he would have it full throttle until it bogged down and died. He did this repeatedly until it would bog down sooner and it eventually quit starting. Then he said it would cost me for him to take a look at it so i brought it home. I checked the oil and it looked like cappuccino pudding. Obviously I have a leak. My question is, could it have anything to do with the outdrive not being sealed correctly even though i used the appropriate gasket and cleaned it all, or did the mechanic fail to drain some part of my motor which froze over the winter and cracked? Keep in mind the oil I'm talking about that looks bad is in the engine on the inside of the boat, not my gear lube in the outdrive, it has no water. It either has a cracked block, head, intake manifold, or gasket somewhere, but could it be the outdrive gasket that connects to the gimbal housing causing water to get in my engine or is it a crack in my actual engine? Also, it won't run anymore so should I even bother trying to winterize it again this year or what because I cant run any antifreeze through it or fog the carb or any of that stuff. moreOpen Question: How to deal with my Autistic brother?
My brother obviously has Asperger's Syndrome, but has remained undiagnosed...my mother is convinced he has ADD, but no one I know with ADD (or ADHD, for that matter) acts like him. It only took a small amount of research on his behavior for it to click in my mind that he is in fact an Aspie. -He doesn't understand what makes something funny (he repeats awful puns my dad will make over and over for years) and laughs too hard and loudly at things that everyone else chuckles at. -He dominates conversations with topics only he would be interested in. He corners my friends/fiance and rambles about engineering when he should know they have no knowledge of the subject. At family functions yo have to pul him aside and instruct him repeatedly not to interrupt, shout-talk or rant about things. -He is obsessed with electronics and wants to become an electrical engineer, but it's been taking him 10 years to receive his bachelors degree. My mother explains that the math class he repeatedly fails is holding him back, but wouldn't somebody retain SOME of the things they'd learn in a class to pas it the second time around? I also suspect he's failing it on purpose to stay in college and keep my parents supporting him (He's always excelled in other math classes, it just seems suspicious). -My parents pay his rent, bills, parking tickets, and give him an allowance at the age of 28. They demand that I work while in school, but nothing is demanded of him. I ask why and it's explained to me that his major is so hard he wouldn't be able to manage work and school, but my fiance's dad went for the same degree and has told me it's not as hard as my parents make it out to be. -His hygiene is atrocious. He's morbidly obese and never washes enough, he leaves pee in the toilet for days, trashes any place he's in and his smell is so mindblowingly awful and unique, I can't even imagine whats causing it. -He cannot understand when he's not welcome or when it's a bad time to talk. -HE ONLY SPEAKS IN SHOUTING. He comes home constantly, even though he has an apartment my parents pay for, and recently he was supposed to come home for a week and has stayed for a month. He keeps insisting that he has bronchitis and can't drive the two hours back to his place, yet he drives around for hours in my hometown and has no problem going out at night. I can't take how loud he is, the godawful smell, how he eats everything in sight and the fact he corners me and fiance every time he see's us. I'd move out to avoid him all together, but I can't afford to. It's impossible for me to make any kind of criticism about him to my parents because they will attack me verbally in an incredibly defensive manner that kind of hints to me that they know what's up. If I point out his smell, my mom will jump me with how I smell like cigarettes. If I say he should go back to his place, they scream at me to leave. He's encouraged to snitch on me or criticize me, but trying to discuss my brother's obvious problems with my mom feels like a huge, obnoxious battle where she refuses to see his flaws. WHAT DO I DO? How do i get him to leave? How do I approach my parents about this while avoiding them lashing out at me? Don't bother with "Try to explain to him what's the matter" because it's pointless. To the person suggesting a instruction picture board, he's not low functioning...he doesn't need to be treated like a child, which is why i think it's strange he's treated as such by my parents. He goes out with friends and gets drunk, he has a drivers liscence...it's not so much that he can't remember washing steps, it's that he just doesn't give a shit. moreOpen Question: i need of advice from las vegas?

Be prepared for a long story.?
OK, so I've got a little money saved up and I've been thinking about this for a while. I chose to go to a college near me so that I could live at home rent free and commute to college. The on campus housing is too expensive anyways. My mom has not let me forget the fact that I'm living at her expense, and whenever I make the slightest complaint about how things are done around the house, she tells me that "I'm 18, I can move out anytime I please if I don't want her to tell me what to do anymore." If only it were that easy....she told me during the college application process that I had the choice of living here rent free and I was more than welcome to take it, so I thought that with me not having a lot of money this was the best option. I know she offered this because she's not ready to have me move out, my dad told me that shes said that she thought it would be like losing me. She is starting to do the same thing with my sister, what with my sister wanting to go away to school. Far away, and I totally get it. There are several people with apartments around my college that I could easily take the bus from to school and back every day, and I wouldn't have to drive. Especially considering that my mom might take my car away from me. OK I'm not trying to get ahead of myself here. Let me just say that my mom does not react well to change (she's currently medicated for bipolar and depression, and seasonal affective/anxiety disorder) and her emotions are on a constant hair trigger. So something like this, me saying I'm going to move out, would set my mom off, and my mom knows all the things to say to get me shouting at her too so it can escalate into a fight not even about the original issue. These fights always end with me apologizing and not wanting to bring up whatever we were fighting about for fear of another fight. It sucks, but this is totally something I need to do/confront her with. But yeah, if she senses she's on the losing side of a fight, she feels the need to let me know whose in charge. She will say, "I guess you don't need a car, living so close to campus". And she could totally take my car away too, considering it's in her name and she pays the gas, insurance, etc. Or she would say, "well if you're such a big shot you can pay for your own college". I'm not kidding. She would actually withhold my college fund. She always tells me to get another job if I need money. I'm already detailing at a Cadillac dealership up the road and working at Subway a total of 30 hours a week. They both pay shit and I've barely saved up enough for rent for a few houses I'm looking at. But my question is, how can I let my mom know it's time for me to go without her flipping out? Anyone with experience in this please tell me what to do. moreOpen Question: questions about lease, one of the girls is not on it?
My cousin, her friend, and I are moving into an apartment next week. My cousins friends mother owns the building, its right above her work, making her feel like she doesn't have to pay any rent. Well I have been throwing a fit about it since day one because I have to pay 300 a month along with my cousin also paying 300 and her friend lives there free. Finally her friend said she would pay the water and eletric bill, but when we got the lease to sign it her name is not on it. My cousin and I both believe that she needs to be on it since in the lease it says that we are to pay the water and eletric. We haven't signed the lease yet so we are not bound it anything yet. My cousin and I want to have her pay 100 of the rent and then the water..ect, we think its a little more fair. The girl doesnt know about this yet, but she text me yesterday saying that we should all chip in money for food and everything. I work 2 jobs, I am a nanny and a cashier and I go to school so i wont be home much and I eat at my jobs or at school. My cousin currently works one job, but is trying to pick up another. the other girl doesnt work and is starting school in late fall, so she is going to be there all the time. I dont want to sound like a b to her mother, so do you feel like we have every right to ask her to pay some of the rent and the water so we can get her on the lease so she cant just up and leave? I also dont feel like I need to buy food, if i wont be eating there. I am sure every now and then I will have a meal there and I have no problem paying for the food I eat, but getting stuff so she can sit around and eat it is just not right. What do you think? moreOpen Question: Any good advice? I am 20 weeks pregnant and I feel stuck in my relationship.?
When I found out I was pregnant my boyfriend and I moved in right away. He is 20 and I am 23. We got an apartment together two months ago. I love taking care of him. But it's gotten to the point where I take care of both of us all the time. I have a very giving heart but in this situation I have never felt so drained. I make more money than him but I also have a lot more bills than him. He works part time and he doesn't have very many bills. We split the rent. But that's it. I pay for Everything else. I didn't agree to pay for everything else in the beginning we both agreed to split and share everything. and if one needed help than the other pays. That's fine. But it's not working out that way, because I am paying for everything all the time. When I lived on my own I always had extra money and savings. I could budget. Now I am borrowing money from the bank every week. I am always broke. I can't do anything with my friends anymore or buy something I like. I am so stressed and I know its not good for my baby or me. I have no social life anymore. I have registration coming up and I am always prepared for it. Now I am screwed but that's just one of many bills that pop up that need to be paid. I don't have any control of my life. I am pretty much stuck here in an empty apartment being pregnant and lonely. And I just sleep to make time pass faster. I have told him that it's hard for me to keep buying all the food and things for both of us. And he says he's broke too. But I am forced to buy because I need all of these things to survive. I really feel like I don't want to live with him anymore. I don't want to leave him. But what do I do? I am pregnant. I am so broke and I feel like I am stuck paying for everything because I can't leave because I am pregnant and have a new responsibility to take care of. But in my situation it's like I have two responsibilities to take care of. We don't do anything together because we are broke. So he his always on xbox live. And I don't feel any sexual attraction to him anymore because I feel depressed and we don't even hang out together or talk really. Unless it's about buying groceries or paying a bill. What do I do? I used to go to the gym and run everyday on my free time. but now I don't because I get a cramp feeling in my tummy. Does anyone have some good advice for me. I am so sad everyday and lonely and broke and even bored. All I do is work and come home. And my boyfriend says I am too emotional. So I stopped talking to him about how I really feel. I feel stuck with him and I am not happy. I know this is a lot to read.I just really need someone to talk to and give me some good advice. I hope I explained the situation clear enough. moreOpen Question: Should we buy our first home or wait a while?
We've rented for the last 5 years and had either the god or bad luck to move quite a bit so we've lived in about 6 different properties. We would really like to own our home and settle down but is now the right time? We're currently in a really nice apartment only 5 mins from where we work paying £450 a month in rent. For a mortgage of a similar amount we would have to look at an old 2 bed terrace which to isn't going to be as nice or as big as where we are now. It's a big first step onto the housing ladder and hare to make it too soon or leave it too long. moreResolved Question: Canceling an Apartment Lease in PA?
i rented an apartment for college in may 2010 and its a 12 month lease. i have recently become very ill (i have crohn's disease) and i am not able to work as much which means i can't really pay my rent. i need to move home to my family in NJ to get better, but im not sure what to do. my lease contract states under "Release of Resident" "Unless allowed by this Lease Contract, or Pennsylvania Law, you won't be released from this Lease Contract for any reason--including but not limited to voluntary or involuntary school withdrawal or transfer, voluntary or involuntary job transfer, marriage, separation, divorce, reconciliation, loss of co-residents, loss of employment, bad health, or death." i guess i fall under bad health, but it says nowhere else in the contract anything about releasing a resident. can someone help me out with what i should do? moreResolved Question: Can my roommate keep my last month security deposit if she evicts me?
I answered an ad on Craigslist for an apartment (it was called a "sublet" but really it was a woman renting a room in her house.) The sublet was for a four month period. She requested first and last month's rent for security deposit. I have no signed rental agreement, just email exchanges. I gave her a check for $1300 for first months rent, and $1300 for last month's rent. We didn't get a long and she began to intimidate me to move out before the agreed time. When I didn't respond to her intimidation, she brought home 2 cats. This was in complete violation of our verbal agreement of no animals. The cats were rife with flees and I am very allergic to them (I have asthma). When I objected to her introducing cats, she told me to vacate. I told her that I could not vacate on such short notice, not without my last months security deposit in anycase. She agreed (and I have this in email). She said she would give it to me on the day I had my furniture out. So, that day came and I was ready to move out (keeping my end of the agreement), but she did not show up and she did not return my security deposit. I had to borrow money from a friend and it was very distressing and caused me to miss work as well. I did write her (email) and demanded she return my deposit or I would take her to small claims. She never did and never provided me with anything in writing stating why she was holding my deposit. Fortunately, I wrote on the check "for last month's security deposit." And I have that with her signature. My only concern is, she evicted me on May 3 and I moved out on May 12th. The final month of my four month rental was to be May 15 - June 15. But I only have email to corroborate my eviction...(and friends who would vouch for me because I stayed at their house.) But she is such a pathological liar and very deviant, I'm worried that she will say that *I* didn't give *her* 30 days notice. I mean can she pretend like I was the one who left without notice (even though she evicted me) and therefore that's why she's keeping my last month's rent? In hindsight, I suppose legally I could have refused to leave, but once she introduced the cats she created a hostile environment, or one that I couldn't stay in for health reasons. One of her cats also got into my room and clawed my airbed, basically destroying it (it completely deflated and I can't patch all the holes). So I am also suing her for the cost of that bed. Our court date is set for next week and I'm worried that she has something up her sleeve because why would anyone want to go through court? Why not just give me back my deposit as she promised? I have no doubt that she is capable of perjury. And since she is a very attractive woman, (and some sort of motivational speaker) she may have the upper hand with the judge. One last thing, when I made the final demand to return my deposit (I think I made 6 altogether), she strung me along some more. She sent me email saying, Where should I send it? I gave her the address to send it. Of course, she didn't send it, stiffed me again...(buying time I guess) just like she did when she was a no-show on my move out day. Would really appreciate any help or insight about what I can expect in court. Thank you! moreOpen Question: What do you think of my future plans after high school? Please be honest!?
Ok, well this is a very basic plan, and I am VERY ambitious. After I graduate high school I would like to get a job full time and stay at home for like 1-2 years(my parents will let me live at home for free to save money up) and work and save money. I would then like to transfer to Seattle and live there for a few years and such and establish residency and go to college to get instate tuition, either a university or community college then transfer to university. I currently live in central Minnesota. Ok this is the SIMPLE outline of my plan. I think this plan will work, first off what do YOU think of this outline plan? Now obviously there is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more too it, and im well aware of that too. I already know a lot of things, but there is A LOT I don't know. My ambition came from we were at a Japanese steakhouse earlier sitting around a grill with other people watching them grill steak and rice on it and entertaining us by doing things like twirling the utensils through the air and lighting the grill on fire. It was AWESOME! Im 18 and im going to be a senior and will be class of 2011. I was there with my older sister whos 23 and has worked at walmart since she graduated a couple years ago and a couple years ago moved out and currently does nothing but live in a basic apartment and works at walmart. They had these other people there at the steakhouse talking about what they do for a living, someone owns a limo company and has traveled a lot, another person works in a prison and they both said they recently went to San Diego, and the waitress said shes going to london later this month and she said she came from Indonesia. My sister told me that we have really boring lifes, and I have a lot of ambition to do exciting stuff like that, and obviously its going to take a lot of work, my mom told me that they had to work hard for all this stuff and it didn't just fall into their laps. I now have a ton of ambition to do something big and exciting, and thats why im planning now. Ok back to my plan. I would like to get a job at a basic retail store like Target or Best buy and work there for a few years living at home then transferring out there. Now I know NOTHING about transferring jobs. How exactly does it work? Also, will you go back to being paid a lower wage or will you keep your current wage? Also, is it the same for every store or does every story vary? If I can't get a job at a big box retail store with locations nationwide, I would work wherever I was able too and would keep on trying to get a retail job so I would be able to easily transfer. Now heres another thing, the cost of living difference. Im from Central Minnesota and a nice one bedroom apartment can be found easily under $550. Now Seattle isn't as expensive as San Francisco or New York City or Los Angeles, but its still really expensive especially where I am coming from. Thats why I would like to save up money for a few years. I DO know that Washington's minimum wage is one of the highest in the country, its $8.55 I believe(How many high school students know this?), which is cool. Now heres the thing about getting a basic apartment. I would just need a basic 1 bedroom or studio apartment. The apartments I have lived in have been terrible and I don't really mind them at all. I don't need french doors or stainless steel appliances or hardwood floors or a pool or fitness center or valet trash service. I also would be open to living anywhere in the Seattle area, even in a suburb thats still a little ways from Seattle. Now places like Redmond, WA are really cool, but also home to lots of high tech companies and the cost of living is ridiculous. Now, I would have lots of money saved up, but apartments generally want your income to be around 3 times your rent(Again! How many high school students know this?!?!) and would money in a bank account count towards getting an apartment or whatever? Also, can you have someone from out of state cosign? My dad would probably cosign for me if I have worked a few years livign at home and have tons saved up. Now heres another thing, I have never been to the city. I would need to go there to look at apartments and put an application and deposit down on one, and also get to know the area and check it out and see what its like. I may even need to make more then one trip there to check stuff out. This I am aware of and will definitely cost money. Will I fly or drive? This I don't know, I will have to figure out whats cheaper and such. I have a plan for when I get there as well! I want to go to college eventually out there. I will have to work for a couple years and establish residency so I can get in state tuition. I know you simply can't get in state tuition by moving there, I will have to look up the requirements for Washington and see what I need to do. It shouldn't be too hard, like register to vote and apply for a Washington Drivers License. What do I waContinued from above:What do I want to do? Again, I don't know this year I am definitely thinking about it and have ideas. Also, Seattle has tons of high tech companies and everything, some places I would love to work at. So I will have to work hard and study hard and do very well in college. Minnesota also has some of the highest community college tuition in the nation. As you can see Minneapolis Charges $151 for a credit for instate and Seattle charges $87. http://www.minneapolis.edu/prospectivestudents/knowingthecost/index.cfm http://www.seattlecolleges.edu/DISTRICT/prospectivestudents/tuitionfees.aspx SO what do you think of my rough plan? Please be honest. My parents want me to do more then they ever did and I want to too. They would love to see me move far away, though they want me to be ready and prepared and realistic and everything. If you took the time to read all this I REALLY REALLY appreciate it. I don't think this plan is all that ridiculous. Now if I was sayign I want tContinued from above:Now if I was sayign I want to move to Seattle as soon as I graduate and i was asking how I can get an apartment and a job before I graduate, NOW then I would be incredibly crazy and pretty stupid.I also have some previous questions about volunteering out of state. I wasnt serious with those. This question I am very, very serious. moreOpen Question: Is it okay to ask my Boyfriend for money?
I've been with.boyfriend for a year now.I am 24 and he is 22 years old.I live with in apartment with my 4 year old daughter. He currently libes in a house that his mother owns and pays absolutely nothing. He sleeps over everyday (except maybe like one day a week he'll go sleep at home) and he keeps some of his personal stuff at my place. He's never offered to help with the rent though. Should he? He brought in some groceries for my place the other day but typically he doesn't really help out. He does, however, usually pay for most of our dates. My rent is pretty high.I can manage but I just thought if he spends more time at my apartment than his own, shouldn't he offer to pay some part of it?What do you think?Should I ask him for money? moreOpen Question: what will/could happen if my husband wont sign the lease?
i live in Pennsylvania, and my husband and i rent an apartment with classic management. we signed a month to month lease. after living in the apartment for a month CM sent out letters stating they wanted to renavations and everyone has to move by july 31. that gave us 3 months to find a new place and move out or choose one of there other properties. we were having a hard time finding a new place and although we were pissed off with there treatment we settled and moved into one of cm's other buildings. The project manager gives me a new lease and entrust me to bring it home so my husban who works can sign it and i can return it back to her. i signed it and he refuses to sayin he doesnt trust them. But we are living in there building and i feel like on the rare chance that something leagle were to happen not having a new lease would go against us. and he said they have nothing either. And im like they can put us out. and hes like they can apparently do that weather we have a lease or not. So he is like being childish and stubborn because of what happened in the other building still i feel he needs to sign the lease. but i cant and dont know how to convince him that it is that big of a deal to sign it. moreVoting Question: i need help finding an apartment in chicago!?

Due to complications at home, I'm having to move back to the town my college is in early. Instead of renting an apartment for a crazy amount, my friend said I can live with her and her 3 other roommates and sleep on their couch. I seriously don't care, I'm fine with that. It's 1 month; I intend on buying my own food and I have a car. I also have a job there so I'll be out day to day either at work or at the beach. I will be using their: internet, utilities, couch (lol), small space for my crap, and the general inconvenience of an extra person. How much do you think I should pay? She said like $30 but that's wayyy low I feel. And I feel like it should be enough to where it cuts money for rent of a month for all 4 roommates. Thanks!**i'm not sure how much they're paying for rent each, but I was thinking maybe $120 for 4 weeks? and i'll help out a ton around their house. that way it takes 30$ off each person instead of just paying my friend- what do you think? moreVoting Question: Question about problems with apartment management- legal advise?
Okay, I have a question about what management is allowed to do an apartment they rented out. First off, can they do work on your patio (ground floor) without giving you notice? By work, I mean they showed up one morning, told me to empty my patio, and took a machine and broke all the cement on the patio, making it unusable. Isn't it some kind of violation of rights since they did this work without giving me notice, while I still reside and pay rent there, and should still be able to use the patio UNTIL I move out? Secondly, the morning following the destruction of the patio, my home became flooded because the messed up the drainage system and it stormed. My bedroom became flooded and with it, some of my things. (They said renter's insurance covers it, but is there any way to get some kind of compensation if I did not have this insurance?) All my things had to be moved to a different room, and my place is extremely small, so it is basically impossible to walk around and that is not acceptable for a living space. I always had issues with the management from day one, when they messed up my move-in date even though I specifically indicated that I needed to move prior to that date because of school. Even though the place was empty, they refused to admit fault and charged me a fee to move in the extra day early, like I requested in advance. Please let me know if there is anything I can do? Maybe get some sort of compensation? Thanks!Walama, actually they were obligated to let me in early because I specifically indicated on my application that date and they agreed. The month of my move in date, they somehow could not find this paper with the date. So, it was their fault. Clearly, I do not expect them to care about my class schedule, but I do expect them to adhere to the date that was indicated in the rental application, which wasn't filed properly by them. And this is the first time I am upset enough with the company to even consider some kind of action against them, so yeah.Walama, actually they were obligated to let me in early because I specifically indicated on my application that date and they agreed. I was in a year lease with my roommate. We were in a two bedroom apartment since December 2009. The rent is $520 for the apartment, not including utilities. We each pay $260 every month. From April '10 until July '10 I was out of state. We agreed she could have one of her friends stay in my room, and she would only pay half of the utilities. I was still paying $260 a month while I was away. When I got home, I found out from the friend that she was also giving my roommate $130 a month for those three months for rent, and paid half of utilities. My roommate tried to hide this from me until I confronted her and told her the money should go to me. She said she understood and was fine with that, but two days later she said she will just give the money her friend paid back to her friend so that we are back to square one. I did not agree with this, but she could not understand my side. My landlord let me off of the lease, and just a few days later my ex-roommate's friend was living in the apartment again. I unfortunately had to give up the security deposit that I paid in full when we moved-in in December. Consumers was in my name until I was let off of the lease. My ex-roommate and I had the agreement that her and her friend would take care of the consumers bills while I was not living there. The final bill was $140. I reminded her of this a couple of weeks ago and she gave me the impression she would pay it when the due date was closer. I asked her about it Thursday, Aug. 5th, and she never responded. The bill was due today, Aug. 9th, and I have not heard from her. I tried calling and left a message. If she refuses to pay the Consumers bill, I want to take her to small claims court. I would like to ask for the money her friend paid towards rent, the security deposit I paid, the final Consumers bill, and court fees. I do not have any of our agreements written down. I have proof that I was paying rent in the months I was gone, I have a text message from my roommate that proves her friend was paying some amount of rent, I have a statement taking myself off of the lease which was signed and dated by my landlord, and I hopefully have her honesty. Do I have a strong case? What are the chances I would get any of this money back?Consumers is the energy bill moreVoting Question: Rent: Is my mum being unreasonable?

my bf of 3 years lived with his mom awhile ago then we moved into our own place, we dont like this area (we both were raised at imperial beach and now live close to downtown) so were looking for a house not apartments in out old beach town. but now that we told his mom shes trying to give hints that she want to move in, and already offered to help pay rent. problem with that is.....his mom takes care of his younger sister whos 18 and his two brothers 25 and 22. one of them is schizophrenic the other ones really annoying! and the i dont like the little sister and dont want his moms asking me for favors that benifit her..(like do her hair, makeup, give her a ride here) and the little sis isnt all there supposably but i just think shes spoiled and wants to act like 12 yr old. plus i think that they want her bf of 2 weeks to move in too. now with all these people they are only offering like 800. the youngeest doesnt have a job and now the other sister whos 20 has two kids and is always moving in and out. i cant really tell my bf anything cause hes paying for everything and i know he feels bad for his mom who doesnt have much money but how will this work he said its good that way he can save for a house or whatever. im just scared they are just using him. why cant they just let him live on his own and be a man! she has six other kids who can help her out! why does it always have to be him....oh yeah and also she said she want his other brother to have a home when he gets out of jail next year.! and they want to just a rent a 2 bedroom! right now they all live in a motel room moreVoting Question: Psycho roommate/best friend...?
WARNING: LONG READ BUT THE ULTIMATE IN CRAZY My best friend and I have known each other for the last 12-13 years. We grew up like brothers. The only real difference between us is he's gay, I'm straight. And I've always accepted him for who he was. EARLY 20's When we were both in college, a bunch of our friends and us moved into a house. Since we all were so close, we shared everything without an issue. Everything was fairly amicable until one night he showed up in my room and begged me to fool around with him. I was shocked, spent 2 hours trying to let him down easy, and tried to be cool about it afterwards. For months he'd make little comments and try to push the issue, which finally caused us to fight about it, he ended up moving back home and we ended up not talking for a year. Eventually we started talking, he apologized, and I forgave him for not being accepting of me. I was just happy to have my bro back. MID 20's We both work in the same industry and he hooked me up with a job in his company. It was cool and proved to be a stepping stone for me to move on to a really amazing company. My career grew, I did really well, and I ended up moving into an apartment on my own. My best friend kept complaining about living with his parents, I felt bad for him, so we talked about getting an apartment together. We ended up moving in together with the agreement it would be for 2 years, as we both expected it to be a useful stepping stone to save up for the future. The problem was he would always complain about not having money, and not moving ahead. So I got him a job with my company. I was at a higher level, but it was a much better oppurtunity for him. BAD IDEA. LATE 20's Fast forward to 3 years later. I intended to move out a year earlier, but didn't because he told me he was having an issue saving up because of some bills. He makes as much as me, we have the same amount of debt, yet I was always throwing down more. Buying groceries, buying household products, etc. I would say something to him and he would buy it, but then slip back into the habit of trying to get me to pay for everything. Keep in mind, for the last 10 years I've spent thousands helping this kid out. Covering him when he was short on rent, or covering him when we were all out partying. He would always play the "I'm poor" card, and since I don't think money matters much I didn't really care. It was only when I noticed I had brought all the groceries for 3 months straight did I confront him and tell him that wasn't right. He admitted he did have money and he used it to party, shmooze with people, etc. I was POed because here I was thinking he needed help and he was using me. We argued and he promised to be better. Even still though, he would help himself to all the booze and beer I buy without even offering to buy any, replace it, throw down or get any himself. I've dealt with him talking trash behind my back with my co-workers and friends (they tell me), I've dealt with him telling people secrets I rather not become public, of him being jealous I am at a higher level, of him being a cheapskate, etc. Because when our lease was up, I'd move back out on my own. Why make a big deal about it? Well now he started flipping out as our move out date nears. It's a month away now and for the last 4 months he's been extremely insecure and passive aggressive. He would pick fights with me, try to bait me into arguments, would complain and accuse me of ignoring him (I'd be busy at work or living my life?), just spiralled downward into a mess. I tried talking to him but he'd lock himself in his room, come out only to drink my beer or eat my food, then hide in his room again. I finally asked him to start throwing down on the beer and booze he was packing away and he had the gall to act indignent like I was just supposed to buy him everything. NOW He acted out at work, tried to get his boss (and another friend of mine) fired because he thought it would open up more chances for him because there was a "big conspiracy" to keep him down. They had to move him to a corner position away from his old team because they were disgusted with the way he was acting. He would start snapping at me when I ask simple questions or do innocent things. I finally got so annoyed that I just stopped trying to talk to him and focused on my own life. I started seeing a girl that I liked and going out more, hanging out with other friends. He snapped even more. Started getting jealous of what I was doing and who I was with. He'd never come out when invited, but always make up some conspiracy over why I'm an evil person. He started making assumptions about me and talking to anyone who would here. He even tweets it, there is an actual rolling updates on how much he hates me and how he is going to bring me dowdown, which he shares with everyone I know. "I think you're a joke"... "Liar, liar, liar"... "Even my doctor laughed at you". He called one of my oldest friends to try and convince him that I am evil. My other friend incidentally thinks he's lost it and reamed him out. We both suspect he either still has feelings for me, thought I would live with him til he was 80, or can't deal with his miserable life. The problem is he's crazy AND vindictive. He called the girl I was hanging out with and freaked her out to the point where she stopped talking to me. At home he locks himself in his room and blares music/TV at maximum volume. He blares music till 4AM. He loops gay porn over and over and blares it loudly. Keep in mind, a family with little kids lives across the hall. He's finally had "enough" of me and my unwillingness to deal with his crazy and is moving out next week. I will have the apartment to myself for a month before I have to move myself. moreVoting Question: Child visitation of two month old with non custodial parent?
Hi everyone, I am looking for some feedback, advice and or personal experiences. I have a two month old son who lives with me. His father and I broke up before I even found out I was pregnant. I did the honest thing and told him about the pregnancy. For the first few months I didn't want him around because he was trying to pressure me into getting back together. Towards the second half of the pregnancy I offered to let hik come to docs appts and the baby shower and help in setting up the nursery. He never came. He was there for the birth but wouldn't sign the birth certificate because he wanted a paternity test. Even still, because he lives 4 hours away in another state, I allowed him to stay at my apartment every weekend all weekend. He was only paying 300 a month in child support. He has a good job and makes plenty of money. The baby is on my insurance which is 500 bucks a month and daycare is 665. He is still in college and attends in another state where he doesn't even have a place to live. He stays at his friends houses on their couches while he attends school. His parents live close by but don't have room for him. Neither him nor his family has bought anything for the baby. My family and I bought everything from the crib to the changing table to the far seat and stroller. He is now pushing for overnight visitation for full weekends back home which is 4 hours away. Because I am not allowing it, he has refused to continue to pay child support and has told me he will take me to court to get his way. He has no clue what he's doing, I have come home from work to find him sleeping on the couch with the baby on his side face first into my ex's side, he doesn't know what size diapers he wears, what kind of formula he drinks, or how much he takes in his bottle. He doesn't have a crib for the baby to sleep in or a place to stay. He bailed on me last minute last weekend when he was supposed to come for the weekend to watch the baby while I worked my second job and told me he wasn't coming unless I let him take the baby back with hik for the rest of the weekend. I said no so he told me to fond a sitter and when I told him without his child support I wouldn't be able to pay rent, he told me to get a loan or a credit card and get a cash advance. My question is do you think there is any way the judge would grant overnights for weekends if he did find a familys place to stay at for the weekends? I really need some help! This is what happend. My mom and dad's home is under foreclosure, and is about to get taken back by the bank. They both were laid off last winter. Well at the beginning of the month of July, they moved into a apartment, and Have moved very little of the furniture out of the house. Well, one of my parents old neighbors called the Police because they saw the yard was looking crappy. So the Police then contacted the bank, and the bank sent landscapers out to the house to clean up the yard and stuff. Well, as the landscapers were there , the same neighbors who called the police said he saw them enter my parents house threw the back door, really late one night, so he called the cops, well the cops show up, and they denied being in the home, i guess went around the back door out front to talk to em. And they showed the police a permit saying they had a contract to do the yard, so the cops took their names, and basically left. Well the guys went back, to work. So the next day my mom and i go to the house, and discover the house has literally been emptied out. They took my dads 60 inch plasma, about 8 or 9 flat screens ( My parents were doing really well before being laid off) Stole the movie theater seats, My moms jewelry chest. So we call the cops, who come finger print, and they call us and tell us the prints match the guys who were there as landscapers. So my moms lawyer called the Bank, and talked to someone. And today, that person called my mom and said this to her " Im not saying i know our guys did this, but what would it take for this to stay out of court, what do you and your husband want". So my question is, being that the guys stole about 60k worth of Jewelry and electronics , Electronics and stuff. Should They sue the company? Or settle outside of court? BTW, the Reason the stuff was still in the house, is because they were waiting on me and my brother to come down from Chicago, to Ga , and rent a Truck to move it for em, their literally that broke. moreResolved Question: Carpet in the house I'm renting...am I responsible?
My landlord put down this cheap carpet throughout my house before we moved in. It's the type you would normally see in an office, available at nominal cost at Lowe's or Home Depot. To make it worse, he put it down himself, so it isn't installed properly. He didn't tuck it under the mouldings, nor did he tack it down, he just layed it on the floor and cut it and called it a day. Then, by my bedroom door, he must've cut too short and just cut a small piece and stapled it to the floor, but only that small piece is stapled. Well, when I vacuum, my vacuum grabs a string and zoom.....it's gone.....there are places now that have no actual carpet left, just the netting from the underneath part. I do my best to look before I vacuum and cut any strings I see, so that the vacuum doesn't suck them up, but now it's happening where there are no hanging strings at all! I've even tried putting clear nail polish in places that look worn, but that's not helping either. I've advised him of the problem and he told me it's no big deal, he'll just take it out of my security. That upset me a little. I've been renting for 11 years, and I've never lost my security deposit. We treat our apartments/houses as if they are our own. We maintain a clean and well kept home, both inside and out, and our rent is paid a week early every month. I don't feel as though I should be held responsible for this, as there is nothing I could have done to prevent it, other than to not vacuum! Had he hired a professional to install decent carpet, there wouldn't be an issue. The other issue I have is that he also put down indoor/outdoor carpet in my kitchen, prior to us moving in. The kitchen is no place for carpet! When you cook, spills happen. Well, a few months back I was taking ziti out of the oven and my wrist locked up (I have terrible carpal tunnel) and I dropped the pan on the floor. I cleaned it up right away, pre treated it and even rented a machine to steam the carpet. Well, it stained. He came by the other day because there is a leak in the ceiling in my living room, and he saw the stain in the kitchen and was really upset. He told my husband that we need to get the stain out or pay to replace the carpet. That's just crazy! It's a kitchen! That's why kitchen's are supposed to have tile or lenoleum! In your opinion, should I be held responsible for this? If I must, I will replace ALL the carpet before we move out, but I really feel this is unfair. I understand where he's coming from, but there's nothing I could've done to prevent any of this!I kinda figured since I didn't write anything on my lease I'd be held responsible. That was my plan....go to Lowe's and buy the same crap carpet and throw it down. We're not moving out yet, we're in the process of attempting to buy our own home, but I thought I'd ask.I'm so stupid....we didn't do a final walk thru because we moved here from out of state. He left the keys under the mat and we moved in the next day. We signed our lease while still in NJ and mailed it to him. That's what I get for trying to make things easy. I try so hard to be a good tenant, and always end up getting kicked in the gut.I do have pictures of the carpet from when we first moved in....especially that one piece by my door, I was smart enough to at least take dated pictures of that, lol! There were holes in the wall and I took pictures of those as well, and he allowed me to add to my lease that we not be held responsible for the holes in the wall, as they were there previously. Not that it matters because my husband filled the holes in and we repainted anyway! I'm too darn nice!He claims he paid $400 for all the carpet, which I know is not true. My husband and I took measurements and went to Lowe's, found the EXACT same carpet and priced it out, it didn't even cost him $200. My security was $637.50 (1 1/2 months rent). I'm not gonna let him keep my entire security deposit for $200 in carpet! He likes my husband to do work for him, calls him all the time for his other properties. I'm gonna just have my husband tell him hey, we're gonna replace the carpet, real casually...he already signed and notarized a release of responsibility w my husband that if something should go wrong or break while my hubby is working for him, my husband won't be held responsible. Cover our butts! lol I can't wait to have my own house and be done with this crap!I have no time or energy to fight with him about it. I have 3 kids, i'm starting school this month and we're buying a house, lol. It's easier for me to just replace it and call it a day. moreResolved Question: TWO months after Bankruptcy 7 Filings, does it break the residential apartment lease? Chapter 7 was granted in?
Chapter 7 was granted in March. I lived at the apartment until July '10 but lease is over in August '10. I paid rent up until July by borrowing money from families. Now, the landlord is threatening me he will sue me if I don't pay August rent. (1100/month) And he says it will cost him $1200 dollars to fix the unit up and sent me an invoice from Home Depot. From what I researched, by default or trustee's decisions upon filing for bankruptcy 7 filings, it breaks the lease. Can anyone shed some lights on this?Location: Chicago, IllinoisNo, I am not living there in August. I already told him that I can't pay August rent and moving out in July.Yes he already mentioned millions of things why the security deposit is his now. moreResolved Question: Apartments or homes for rent in Colorado springs, co that allow pit bulls?
My husband and I love the American Staffordshire Terrier! We are currently looking for a house or apartment for rent that allow these dogs. I think it's awful how these dogs have such bad names! Yes their are dogs that do attack people all kinds of breeds, but it's not the breed it's the owner. It's like blaming a gun for killing someone when solely it's the person in possession of the gun is at fault! Anyways I know their will be some controversy on this question, but I would really like some useful answers, and I ignore completely of any negative answers. Thanks! moreVoting Question: Can my sister throw my stuff out of the house, if Im paying rent but not on the lease?
Around 3 months ago, I moved into a 3 bedroom apartment with my older sister ( I'm 18, shes 21 ). However, I decided not to sign the lease ( but the landlord DOES know and gave me permission to be there ), to give myself a little bit of flexibility because I had plans to move to California in the near future. However, due to a recent argument she wants to kick me out. I pay half of the rent and half of the utilities and she is technically subletting the room to me. A few days later ( after returning home from a vacation ) she confronted me and told me to immediately grab some of my stuff and get out. After a long argument ( a continuation of the initial argument ), I left with a few of my things, planning to return the next day with a trailer to pickup the rest of my belongings. However, within 30 minutes after I left ( and in her rage ), my sister called me back and told me that I had to come get my stuff within 20 minutes or it would all be out on the front lawn and, low and behold my stuff did show up on the front lawn after 20 minutes ( she even sent me a picture of it with her cellphone ). I had no access to the trailer at the time, so I had no means to move my stuff off the lawn or out of the apartment. Soon after, her boyfriend ( who pays NO rent ) texts me to inform me that if I dont remove my belonging from the front lawn that he would dispose of them within 2 hours. I decided not to go and try to attain my belongings because of the high probability of a confrontation, instead allowing things to cool down for a while. Earlier, both of them also threatened to change the lock on the doors and deny me entrance to my place of residency. However, a few hours later I receive a text from my sister claiming she had thrown away all my belongings. Can she legally do this? Technically she is subletting the room in the apartment to me and acts as my landlord. However, the law in Utah states that you must give a 30 day eviction notice. She removed my belongings off the property, throwing it away ( apparently ) without my permission, this is THEFT. I did some research , and with the amount of things she threw out and/or apparently destroyed ( ~ 7k worth of things ) she and her boyfriend are looking at a second degree felony. Can I legally press charges? Has she broken the law? To clarify: - I pay half the rent. - I pay half the utilities. - The landlord knows I am a resident of the apartment, but wished not to sign the lease. Thanks moreResolved Question: Does anyone know where I can buy cheap furniture?

The items can be used or new. So please help this is my first real time living on my own Im only 19. moreVoting Question: Someone please help me understand my ex...?
I was with my (now) ex for six years. We lived together, bought a dog earlier this year... the whole thing. It ended a couple of months ago with him leaving me for a woman he currently works with. She was also in another relationship (engaged actually) and called it off because she was unhappy while she began pursuing my ex. He claims he has been "unhappy" for a long time, and that is why he left. He also claims that he "really" happy with his new relationship. He will often compare us openly, and will tell me unnecessary information about his feelings towards her. On the other hand, he makes a point to contact me on a regular basis. When ever we see each other (mostly because we still split the rent/bills/etc) he even CRIES because he claims this change is so difficult and that he misses our dog. Yet, he has still said that even if his new girl ends it with him, he would still prefer to be single rather than get back together. My cousins came over yesterday, and posted a bunch of pictures of us doing goofy things in my apartment with my dog. My ex messaged me today and said that he saw the pictures on facebook, and it made him sad to see our apartment and dog. He said sometimes it "downright kills me." And then during the rest of our conversation, he was very "sweet" and used a lot of terminology we used while we were together. I am going away for a wedding out of state, and he offered months ago to watch my (our old) dog during that time. The thing is, he moved back home with his parents after he moved out of our apartment, so he has to make sure his mom is okay with it first. I told him a few months ago that if she was not okay with watching her, that he could stay at my place while I'm gone. He agreed, and said he would enjoy that. Today, I asked him if there was any news about him watching the dog, and he said that he would email his mom to ask what she thinks. (Since he'll be at work, she would be the one at home with the dog most of the day). He said that he told her he would enjoy watching her and that he missed "his" dog. Then, I told him that the offer was still on the table if he wanted to vacation at my place while I was gone to watch the dog, and he said, "I don't think I would be very comfortable with that. Hehe, sorry." Ooookay???? The thing is, even if I had the chance, I would not get back together with him... but I'm still interested to know what the heck is going on inside the head of his? I feel like he's a little misleading... one minute saying this, the next that... Again, I don't want him back, but he was apart of my life for six years, and I'm still curious to understand how he is feeling. Can any of you interpret his man speak? moreResolved Question: Where can I advertise my apartment for rent during the Ryder Cup for free?
The Ryder cup is near my town in September and a lot of people are renting out their homes to people needing a place to stay for the event. Where else can I advertise for free, specifically for people going to the event? moreResolved Question: Is Manhattan too expensive?
I've been thinking about moving there from Paulus Hook (on the Hudson across from WTC in NJ) but it would cost at least $3000 a month to get as good of an apartment as I have now. I can rent a 3 BR beachfront home in Oahu for that. I checked out the supermarkets in the area I like (Gristedes) and everything is outrageously expensive. For anyone in Manhattan with this type of rent, how much do you need to be making every month to make it work? 10k? 15? moreResolved Question: How much would a plane ride from Kentucky to Australia cost?
I'm a junior in high school and my girlfriend and I are planning on taking time off after senior year to spend a year in Australia. My parents aren't exactly all for it, so we were planning on paying for the trip ourselves. I was wondering how much it would cost to get down there and also rent an apartment to live in. Since we're going to be there for a whole year we decided it would be necessary to both get jobs to pay for everything while we're down there, so I don't need a list of all living expenses, just the plane tickets mostly. I apologize for this being so long :) And please no comments about how we should stay home and not take a year off, our decision is final. Thanks in advance :) moreResolved Question: My roommate wants to sue me because I told her I wouldn't pay rent any longer.?
Ok..long story semi-short: I got an apartment with a friend 2 hours away from home. I decided after two months that the job there wasn't good for me and the place i was working at at home was much better for my future. So i moved back home, still going to pay for my half of the rent. I even left her everything in the kitchen that was ALL MINE (pots, pans, plates, glasses, utensils, everything). I was just trying to be nice. So then, i've only been gone a week and i hear that she's having 8 people come and visit her in our two bedroom apartment, which there obviously isn't room for. I don't know any of these people or how they are so i text her, asking her to not let anyone in my room. I still had stuff in there that i didn't have room to take with me when i initially moved out. Regardless, i still pay for that space, so i have every right to not want people in there. So she ok, she would do that. The more i kept thinking about it, the worse i felt about the situation. The living room is only big enough for MAX 6 people to sleep. And the only other place for people to go is in my room. So. I drove 2 hours that night and didn't tell her. When i got there she was soo surprised. The first thing she said to me was..."uh they just put the baby pin in your room". I was like uhh...ok. Then i actually went into my room and people stuff was EVERYWHERE! dirty clothes on the floor, pillows and blankets on my bed, baby bottles all over my desk, diaper bag on my chair, purse in the middle of the floor, my room was actually rearranged to make room for the baby pin, clothes were hanging in my closet and it was pretty obvious that not only had people been in there, but they were planning on staying in there. So i confronted my roommate about it and she claimed to have no idea that anything was in there one second and then the next she was saying that she saw all of it and tried to clean it up...BULL. and then she had the audacity to say that once i moved out, i lost all control over what happens to my room and bathroom. which is obviously BS because i still pay rent for a room that's being used as a f'ing hotel room. so, i turned off the electricity since it was in my name, yet another thing i did not to inconvenience her, and i'm refusing to pay rent. a few people have advised me different things but i need some non-biased advice. she's already talked to her mom's lawyer and is threatening me with crap. i might get a lawyer but if she does sue me, it will be in small claims court, so a lawyer is kinda pointless... help me please! should i pay rent? or should i not pay rent? do i have a decent case if she were to sue me? Both of our names are on the lease. I feel like if she thinks she "controls" the apartment, then she can pay for the WHOLE apartment. I don't pay my part of the rent to have MY bedroom used as a hotel room. When I had guests and she was out of town, I respected her space and didn't let anyone in there. Is it possible that i could let someone rent my room out from me? If so, I'm pretty sure I would have to ask the apartment, right? And would the roommate whose name's on the lease with me have to approve?? 7 minutes ago I am currently 2 hours away but I know everyone is still there. Is there anyway that I can call the police where she is, have them go to the apartment, just to cover my butt incase she does sue me, there would be documentation that I didn't want those people there? moreResolved Question: I told my ex-roomate i'm not paying rent anymore and now she's going to sue me?

I'm 20 yrs old and recently moved in with my 31yr old boyfriend of 3yrs! I was having problems at home I was trying to resolve & the best idea was for me to move out, So I started apartment searching,a few months later his sister offers to rent me a a room that's attached to the back of their house & ofcourse its his room. Him and I talked about it and agreed so then I moved in may2010. At first things were going great and for a month he's been very distant And I understand he's never lived with anybody and I'm invading his personal space. But 2weeks ago we had a talk and he put it out there that he's not ready for this yet! He said he feels trapped and some-what annoyed,(he's not used to anybody telling him what to do & I think I ws being a little pushy) he still not over the "going out with his friends" thing. I tried my hardest after tht to keep my mouth shut but I usually can't keep my feelings in. This past weekend he finally broke up with me and told me he loves me but up to a month ago he doesn't feel he's in love with me. So I played it strong and took it until he walked out the door, then from then til now myheart feels broken and my mind feels confused. I love him so much and I think that its the adjustment of living together that's killing him. I want to move out,but I have no where to go & with my income I can't afford my car payment and rent. Moving out is probably the best way to go about it so he can get his space and see if he misses me. So for now he's slept in the living room &i ve stayed in our bedroom,up to lastnight he slept in here but on the floor and this morning he made a comment of sleeping on my bed tonight. What should I do with our living situation and these strong feelings that I keep trying to hide. Please someone reply & help me out. moreResolved Question: Apartments/Homes for rent in Twentynine Palms, CA?
My husband is about to come home from a six month tour in Afghan. and we need to find a place to rent in Twentynine Palms, Ca. We would prefer to have a furnished house but anything will do at this point in time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. moreVoting Question: outrageous move out charges. what can I do now?
I just moved out my old apartment complex owned by "empirian property management" and I've to say by far this is the worse company I ever rented an apt with. I moved in this apt on 12/2008 when I moved in I paid a pet fee but I didn't paid any deposit(because my credit is decent). The office in the place is a mess, they try to trick me when I renewed my lease for 7 months, they put my move out date for the 22 July/10 but I caught that and requested that they changed to 31st but the lady trick me anyway, she changed me move-in reservation for the 31 but on my lease paperwork she left was it was. This new manager called me on the 23 to say that I should move-out but I wasn't at home at the moment when I got home nobody was left at the office. It's 10:30 AM the office is supposed to be open daily from 8am to 6pm. I stayed the whole day at home that day and nobody came back. It was Friday, so on the following Monday, I explained the whole situation and the manager was very harsh to me saying that I would have to move out, so I replied on the same level saying that they charged me for the whole month anyway and that I would stay there because me move-in-reservation said so. Making a longer story shorter, I'd no problem staying there until the 30th(the day that I was going to move out anyway). On the same monday that I spoke with manager, I made my self clear that I would move out on Friday and that I expected somebody to be in the office on that day, she confirmed that she would be. When I got my Uhaul all packed, guess what nobody was at the OFFICE. They even have a sister community and they didn't have anybody there as welll. It as 2:30pm. So, I left a note for them to mail me the bill. I just got my bill today and they want to charge me $756 for my moving-out fee. The biggest fee is for the carpet replacement due CAT and DOG URINE. My cat and dog never URINES in the carpet. I paid a $300 pet fee when I move in and they not even considering it. Also, I paid $9 for 19 months for pet rent. I understand a 87.50 for cleaning & dmg to the apt. But, 658 for carpet in a one bedroom apt. I can't really have a conversation with them they are very rude and never help me out. Any idea how to defend myself? thx for u time. moreResolved Question: Nursing home charged me $8000 for mother's stay... Can I fight this?
My mother has been in a nursing home since November. During her stay there, I was under the assumption that her medical insurance was covering her costs. Long story short, it wasn't, and now I'm stuck with an $8000 bill because I signed to be financially responsible for her during her admission in November. However, my issue with the situation is this... I didn't find out I was being billed until July!!! My mother was receiving social security disability while living at her apartment. While in the nursing home, she continued to receive it, and it was used for her monthly rent and bills. Last month, I found that it hadn't been deposited in her account, and that the nursing home had taken it to pay for her stay there. So I go into the office, and I find out that they had been mailing out bills since November!!! Well, my mother's mail was getting forwarded to my place, but apparently, the nursing home bills could not be forwarded by the post office. So, the nursing home just kept sending them out, even though they would just get them back each month. And this went on for 8 months!!! I mean how hard is it to walk your lazy ass down to the other end of the building and find either mom, or find her emergency contact list, and call me to let me know I'm being charged??? Needless to say but I was furious!!! Anyways, If I would have known that I was being billed, then my mother's social security disability money would have gone to the nursing home, instead of being used to maintain her apartment. So what can I do in this situation??? I mean if it gets to the point where I want to fight this, do I have any case at all in arguing that the nursing home did not make an adequate attempt to contact me? Or can they pretty much bend me over because I signed the admission papers back in November?aaaaaaaaaaaaa@Senor Snarky... I was in control of her bank account. I paid her rent, her life insurance bills, etc... However, had I known the nursing home was charging me, I would have made the decision to give up her apartment and use her social security money to pay the nursing home. But I was never given a chance to make that decision. Yes, she does receive Medicaid. Her SSD is around $1000 per month, which typically would not be enough to cover her stay, but this nursing home changes the rates they charge based upon the insurance/income of their resident. It's a county run nursing home if that makes any difference. moreVoting Question: I want to live on my own.?

I'm a single guy who lives at home For now, due to economical crisis, I cannot afford to leave. I am finishing college with hopes of entering the bail bondsman business. My family has a shore house which has an apartment beneath it. The plan is, after the house we live in now gets sold, the family is gonna move down there and at that time, hopefully I'll be working in that field and clearing enough money weekly to move out. The thing is, I will be moving downstairs in the apartment at the shore house which is the same bu idling but completely different living spaces. Instead of me going to some random apartment paying some other land lord, I'd rather pay my mom the rent to help her out. So I'll be out on my own but not far away from family.
